5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Cheap & works great for pairing Wiimotes & wireless headsets.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: I don't use it a whole lot so I can't really speak to the durability, but if it does break, you're out less than a tenner.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks out of the box

Pros: Worked out of the box. Installed software from CD and plugged in when asked. Seems to have acceptable range. I could get reception on my bluetooth headset one room over. Good enough.

Cons: Can't predict the reliability yet. Replaced an older version Asus BT adapter which failed after few months of use. Although I had that one for a while, the actual usage wasn't more than several months. Considering the other reviewers, I don't have too high hopes on this adapter. On the other hand, can't complain for five bucks after MIR.

Other Thoughts: The documentation asks you to uninstall all previous BT software before beginning the install. I didn't have any, but something others might want to do to avoid performance issues.

1 out of 5 eggsDoesn't hold connection.

Pros: Small.

Cons: Doesn't work with windows 8. Loses connection.

Other Thoughts: I've tried every possible solution. I've tried so many drivers. I've turned off all power management. Basically, I connect a keyboard and it works for a moment, but then goes offline. I can't put the keyboard down and come back to it, because it will be offline. I finally had to go back to an IOGEAR 2.0 bluetooth dongle. Oh my spirit. This is supposed to be 4.0 technology, but it is unreliable.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I can achieve a stable audio connection at about 35 feet away from my computer through 4 walls

Cons: Working with Bluetooth on windows 8 and 10 is a pain.
I don't know if it's a problem with my Bluetooth devices or the adapter but sending dual audio to one device doesn't work very well.

1 out of 5 eggsNot worth the money

Pros: None.

Cons: Died after five uses. Asus never replied to emails. Cheaper to buy another model than return. Bought one at half the price and it works very, very well.

Other Thoughts: Have had several Asus products and the last three were duds (2 tablets and the bluetooth dongle). Used to think they were great, loved their mobos, but no more.

1 out of 5 eggsIntermittent

Pros: works

Cons: doesn not work well as audio transmitter

Other Thoughts: at first i thought these were working fine, and that my USB ports were busted because i would get a random disconnection from all USB ports at any given time. that being said, i upgraded my USB ports and no other devices are messsing up/deatching but the sound on my jaybirds cut in and out several times a minute for split seconds.

reasons i know it is the device (BT400) and not my USB port:

bluetooth headphones work perfectly when synced to phone
phone syncs nicely with car bluetooth
two separate albeit same model headphones do not work with this bluetooth dongle as it is still intermittent

4 out of 5 eggsThumbnail BT4.0 USB 2.0

Pros: Works great with Raspberry Pi. That is the only reason I got it.

Cons: Only giving 4 stars because I have not used it with a normal PC, which is what most people will use it for.

2 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: easy to install and works

Cons: dont try and go more than 2 or 3 feet... it just wont happen.

Other Thoughts: purchased to connect a PS4 controller and headset to my windows 7 64bit PC. it is fine as long is I'm not more than 3 feet from my computer. for me this is not so bad as my computer directly next to my work area, however if i move just 2 feet (and that putting me a literal distance of 4 to 5 feet away from the device) the performance drops to that of a 1999 nokia brick phone. latency is sometimes 15-75ms and if you game or care about sound quality that just wont do.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Corey,
