ASUS

Plus, the stylish external magnetized antenna base gives you more flexibility in adjusting antenna placement to get the best signal reception quality possible.

ASUS ASUS

Fastest Wi-Fi standard: 802.11ac

The PCE-AC68 uses Broadcom’s new 5th generation Wi-Fi 802.11ac chipset to reach speeds of up to 1.3Gbit/s through the 5GHz band, which is three times faster than 802.11n Wi-Fi. At the same time, it maintains full backward compatibility with all previous Wi-Fi protocols, providing high performance two-way transmission while ensuring a smooth transition to 802.11ac and seamless interconnection with existing devices.

ASUS ASUS

Next-generation Wi-Fi on both bands!

Broadcom TurboQAM™ hardware integrated on the PCE-AC68 brings the speed benefits of next-generation 802.11ac Wi-Fi to both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. At 600Mbit/s and 1.3Gbit/s respectively, they turn the PCE-AC68 into a formidable AC1900 wireless adapter, providing speeds that cannot be bettered by generic wireless adapters. Connect the PCE-AC68 to ASUS networks to attain the very highest possible Wi-Fi speeds.

ASUS

ASUS

Extend and strengthen your wireless connection

ASUS AiRadar intelligently strengthens wireless device connectivity using precise directional signal amplification for extended coverage, increased data-throughput speed, and enhanced stability. Wi-Fi-connection strength varies based on your environment, so the PCE-AC68 intelligently detects wireless router locations and ‘shapes’ data transmissions using three external antennas and high-powered beam-packing — assuring the fastest stable connection.

ASUS

ASUS

No more dead zones with 150% the coverage!

Powerful two-way transmission and a signal-boosting high-gain design give the PCE-AC66 improved two-way transmission that extends Wi-Fi range and coverage by up to 150% compared to generic client devices. This extended reach means the elimination of dead spots at any location, offering fast and uninterrupted HD streaming and smooth multiplayer gaming wherever you may be

ASUS

Flexible extended antenna placement

ASUS

The three detachable antennas of the PCE-AC68 can be placed remotely via bundled extension cables. A magnetized stand also comes in the box, which can easily attach to various surfaces for more placement options. By making the antennas mobile, the design offers more flexibility in choosing locations for better signal reception and quality.

ASUS

Stylish aluminum heatsink handles heat for extra stability

The added heatsink uses highly-conductive aluminum to remove heat from the chipset, ensuring greater reliability for non-stop operation. Lower temperatures translate into a more stable device in all climate conditions, even during hot summers, and greater stability means more consistent connectivity and longer product lifespan. Plus, the heatsink has been crafted for a stylish look, once more showing ASUS always goes beyond the spec.

5 out of 5 eggsUnbelievable Range & Performance

Pros: No need for external antenna within 20ft of Wireless Router
Can see & connect to neighbors WiFi 150-170 feet away with the external antenna attached (tested with their permission & advised them of how to secure their WiFi afterwards)
Gets double the signal strength through 3 walls into the back bedroom Vs the Intel Wireless AC-7260 card in my laptop.
Wireless transfer of movies, music, & photos from PC to Laptop now averages 65-70MB per second (SSD to SSD)

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Purchased in September, have had zero problems. This card went into a half-height case which was no problem with the included half-height bracket. PC is in the back bedroom which is about 45 feet from the wireless router, but passes through 3 wooden (not drywall) walls. Average connection speed is around 520 - 580Mbps with the antenna attached, about 12-20Mbps without the antenna attached.

Price may seem high, but with the results I'm getting, well worth the investment... as long as you need high speed transfers within your home network.

5 out of 5 eggsOh !@#$

Pros: Had slow Wifi speeds so purchased new modem, router and adapter. Replacing my USB dongle adapter with this alone increased my speed to the 120 mbps I was paying for.

Install was a breeze.

Can't comment on stability yet but so far so good.

Cons: Price (But if you have the money it's well worth 2x the price of a cheap dongle that can't match this pcie solution.)

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: External antennas
Decent speed

Cons: Not nearly as fast or reliable as the RT-N66U router I was using as a wireless bridge prior to this.
Using this adapter my speed will occasionally drop off leaving me with 500 ping and 5Mb/s downloads, requiring a connection reset.

Other Thoughts: For the price, I would honestly pick up another router to use for your desktop wireless needs.

1 out of 5 eggsSo far Nothing but trouble

Pros: Antenna look nice

Cons: Installing this card on a ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 / Windows 7 using the original install disk. I am getting Code 10 "This device cannot start". Uninstall driver and software, went to Asus website to download most recent driver and the same result. Uninstall software and just tried to install the driver, same result. Tried all 5 PCI-e ports and still same result.

So far, nothing but headache.

Other Thoughts: Reading others review, it seems like this is a very faulty device. So far, I cannot reccomned this to others. WIll update if fixed.

4 out of 5 eggsGood hardware, bad software

Pros: Seeing high speeds and good connectivity all day, all the time.

Cons: ASUS software is horrible. The software is not compatible with Windows 2012 r2 (and possibly not 8.1 from the other reviews).

I also needed to completely expunge power from the motherboard during install by pulling the powerplug and holding the powerbutton for 10 seconds. The motherboard did not register the card until I did that.

Other Thoughts: The drivers are not available by themselves for installation. So to get around this, you need to install the included software. Then copy the drivers folder out of the ASUS installation directory to another folder. uninstall the asus software. reboot and manually install the drivers you copied earlier.

This allows windows wireless to manage your card instead of the buggy ASUS software.

This process works for both Windows 2012 r2 and Win 8.1

5 out of 5 eggsBest WIFI

Pros: This was a very easy install.
Looks

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I was able to install this on two computers in less than 30 mins. Worked out great even with my WIFI modem on the second floor and my desktops on the first floor I am still seeing 50mb speeds.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Adapter

Pros: Does what it was suppose to do.

Cons: Random ping spikes at

Other Thoughts: For people who are planning to buy this adapter or have this adapter DO NOT turn on beamforming, turboQAM, and interference mitigation on this adapter. I have a Asus AC68U placed 10 feet from me and had pings spikes to 50-1100ms with these features enabled, when you disable these features you will not see these spikes anymore.

*This is also with the latest firmware and drivers for both devices.

5 out of 5 eggsUp to Expectations (so far)

Pros: Install was easy and smooth; no issues at all, software worked fine right from the start on my Windows 7 machine.

Speed is terrific so far. I have a fairly busy home network (2 overlapping SSIDs in my house plus several from the neighbors, probably 10-15 wifi devices on my networks) and I get an excellent signal in the room adjacent to the one the router sits in. Got 1Gbps connection speed right away, and it seems to bounce between 1Gbps and 867Mbps.

I really like the magnetic triangle base for the antennas; I have it stuck to the side of my PC tower. I think it definitely helps to have the antennas away from the back of the PC in terms of reception.

Cons: None so far; obviously this card is a bit more expensive than other options out there, but it's also one of the fastest cards available right now.

Other Thoughts: I do a fair amount of streaming movies over my home network, and occasionally moving around big files. I've noticed that movie streaming is much improved and have no problem watching 1080p movies over the wifi. A while ago I upgraded my router and switch to 10/100/1000 speed, and I finally figured it was time to get the wifi up to the same speeds. (Side note, also had to buy an appropriate AC router to take full advantage of this card, obviously.)

1 out of 5 eggsDecent when it works

Pros: Fast.

Cons: Intermittent connection issues.

Other Thoughts: I am now on my second card after an RMA and can not do anything useful with this card. It constantly drops connection. WIndows still thinks that it is connected. Forces me to manually disconnect and reconnect in order to work again. This second card lasted less than a week.

ASUS support requires that you pay to ship the card to them, adding more cost to an already expensive card, and it still doesn't work.
