ASUS 802.11ac Dual-band Wireless-AC1900 PCI-E Adapter

  • 5th generation 802.11ac chipset gives you dual-band,2.4GHz/5GHz for up to super-fast 1.30Gbps
  • Flexible extended antenna placement helps you pinpoint the best reception in your environment.
  • Instant Wi-Fi upgrade for your desktop: no more messy Ethernet cables needed.
  • High-power design clears up dead zones with 150% greater coverage
  • Custom heatsink dissipates heat for more stable and reliable non-stop operation

The ASUS PCE-AC68 is a new 802.11ac Wi-Fi PCI Express adapter which upgrades your desktop from tangle-some Ethernet cables to carefree industry-leading 802.11ac at up to 1.3Gbps. Plus, the stylish external magnetized antenna base gives you more flexibility in adjusting antenna placement to get the best signal reception quality possible.

Fastest Wi-Fi standard: 802.11ac

The PCE-AC68 uses Broadcom’s new 5th generation Wi-Fi 802.11ac chipset to reach speeds of up to 1.3Gbit/s through the 5GHz band, which is three times faster than 802.11n Wi-Fi. At the same time, it maintains full backward compatibility with all previous Wi-Fi protocols, providing high performance two-way transmission while ensuring a smooth transition to 802.11ac and seamless interconnection with existing devices.

Next-generation Wi-Fi on both bands!

Broadcom TurboQAM™ hardware integrated on the PCE-AC68 brings the speed benefits of next-generation 802.11ac Wi-Fi to both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. At 600Mbit/s and 1.3Gbit/s respectively, they turn the PCE-AC68 into a formidable AC1900 wireless adapter, providing speeds that cannot be bettered by generic wireless adapters. Connect the PCE-AC68 to ASUS networks to attain the very highest possible Wi-Fi speeds.

Extend and strengthen your wireless connection

ASUS AiRadar intelligently strengthens wireless device connectivity using precise directional signal amplification for extended coverage, increased data-throughput speed, and enhanced stability. Wi-Fi-connection strength varies based on your environment, so the PCE-AC68 intelligently detects wireless router locations and ‘shapes’ data transmissions using three external antennas and high-powered beam-packing — assuring the fastest stable connection.

No more dead zones with 150% the coverage!

Powerful two-way transmission and a signal-boosting high-gain design give the PCE-AC66 improved two-way transmission that extends Wi-Fi range and coverage by up to 150% compared to generic client devices. This extended reach means the elimination of dead spots at any location, offering fast and uninterrupted HD streaming and smooth multiplayer gaming wherever you may be

Flexible extended antenna placement

The three detachable antennas of the PCE-AC68 can be placed remotely via bundled extension cables. A magnetized stand also comes in the box, which can easily attach to various surfaces for more placement options. By making the antennas mobile, the design offers more flexibility in choosing locations for better signal reception and quality.

Stylish aluminum heatsink handles heat for extra stability

The added heatsink uses highly-conductive aluminum to remove heat from the chipset, ensuring greater reliability for non-stop operation. Lower temperatures translate into a more stable device in all climate conditions, even during hot summers, and greater stability means more consistent connectivity and longer product lifespan. Plus, the heatsink has been crafted for a stylish look, once more showing ASUS always goes beyond the spec.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks good once you get correct drives installed

Pros: The fastest wireless card on the market. Over 1 gbps speed with correct drivers installed.

Cons: Taking off 1 egg because the drivers are a pain to install on Win 10. Had to install / uninstall many drivers before I found the one that worked. If you have Windows 10 the cd they ship you won't work at all. You have to go to Asus site and download them, however DO NOT download the Win Beta drivers they do not work, low 2.4ghz speed along with 5ghz not working at all if you install the beta driver. When I installed the non beta Windows 10 drivers the card then worked fine.

Other Thoughts: Really need a good AC router to take advantage of this card.

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY

Pros: Looks great with the red heatsink
When it works, it works well

Works great under 2.4ghz, but your speed is obviously limited.

Cons: I just moved and we finally have a 5ghz router. Of course now is when I discover the issues with my wi-fi card that it always had, I just didn't discover until now.

5ghz does not work properly, do NOT spend over $100 on this. I am mad that I did.

I can't stay connected to 5ghz, so I'm limited to 25% of my internet speed on 2.4ghz, or I have to use 5ghz and be disconnected every 10 minutes - 8 hours.

I am past my warranty period and didn't discover this issue until now because as I said I was using 2.4ghz prior. This problem persists on all the machines i tried this card in. The card is the problem. I called my ISP several times and they were clueless on how to help, because in reality it was this faulty asus product that's causing the issues.

Now I'm out $150 I spent on this thing and have to either use it in 2.4ghz or use my motherboards wi-fi. I can now buy another one or look for something else. I dont plan on doing either.

I had to restart my internet again before posting this.

Other Thoughts: Do not buy this for 5ghz, and it isn't worth it for 2.4ghz

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works very well on 2.4ghz when there isn't interference.

Cons: I have an Asus RT-AC68P running both 2.4 and 5 ghz networks. This adapter "connects" to the 5ghz, but only with limited connectivity. It seems to receive an IP, but is unable to access the router homepage ( I had a tiny USB adapter that could connect to the 5ghz, while this one at more than twice the cost, can't connect to its own branded router.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Jeremy,

Thank you for your time on posting this review, we are sorry to hear your experience with the ASUS wireless adapter. I know that you are disappointed with the adapters performance. Please allow me to assist you.

For a try please follow the steps below to try to fix the adapters problem.

* Place your router in an open and strategic area since this device uses radio waves to communicate.
* Do not place your wireless device or computer right next to the router because the 18-inch radius around the router is a wireless dead zone.
* Ensure that the distance between the router and the wireless device is three (3) meters apart as this is the area with the best signal strength.
* Try different port on the computer or power cycle the computer
* Uninstall and reinstall the driver with its support disk then power cycle the computer;
* or, download and install the latest network adapter driver then power cycle the computer
* Use different computer for comparison and follow again the steps above.

5 out of 5 eggswow

Pros: Wow. I mean i don't take time to write any reviews at all, but this product deserves one. I paired this wireless adapter to my Nighthawk X4 and I'm amaze of how fast my download speed is. I get about 500Mbps download and 300Mbps Upload. I highly recommend this card if you need a fast pcie wifi adapter.

Cons: Price? I guess..
I hate the red color pcb and heatsink, but i knew that before i purchased the item. Maybe asus should make one in BLACK so it doesn't throw off the color scheme.

5 out of 5 eggsFast !

Pros: Works great with Windows 10. When paired with Asus RT-ac68P router, I'm maxing out my cable speeds (110mb down/10mb down). With my previous Netgear N300 router, I got 50mb/8mb. For reference, my desktop is located one floor directly below the router, a linear distance of about 20 feet.

Cons: You need a pretty fast (ac) router to get max speeds

5 out of 5 eggsASUS NIC

Pros: Moving from a standard USB dongle to this beast was one of few great decisions I have made. This card is not only very small and discrete, but also fast and reliable.

Cons: Being its just a dual band NIC, it is a little on the high end when it comes to price. Aside from that the external antenna mount is a little atrocious to look at. But if you have 2-3 monitors, shouldn't be an issue!

Other Thoughts: I didn't really care for the color of the device, not really an issue, but a red card in a black/blue/white build looks odd. READ THIS: If you have pre-Win10, install the drivers / utilities FROM ASUS' WEBSITE. If you have Win10, DON'T INSTALL THE DRIVERS Win10 will automatically recognize it as a NIC!!!

5 out of 5 eggsNo problems on Windows 10 for me

Pros: Used on my first build. No complaints or problems at all! Running windows 10 and drivers installed properly and wifi works as it should. Noticeably faster than my old pc for sure! And the red color matched my build.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsVery fast wireless

Pros: I have had it over a year now. I did not want to go wireless but it didn't make sense to run cable to certain rooms. Get a fast router with beamforming and thins thing will give you fast wifi speeds -- enough to max out good residential cable.

I'm in a challenging area for signal and this thing never drops either.

Cons: Cost. I just didn't have a choice though. ABout the same price as when I bought it a year ago.

Other Thoughts: Invest a good AC router, with beamforming.

5 out of 5 eggsasus PCE-AC68

Pros: This wireless adaptor is just what I needed!! It worked just as advertised! I went from 2 bars of signal to warp speed(full signal)!!! I would definitely recommend this card to anyone that has wireless problems. My problem was only 10-15ft away. Thank you ASUS!!

Cons: none at all!!

Other Thoughts: The only suggestion I have is to download the drivers off there site. that's what I did after reading all the forums.
