5 out of 5 eggsGreat product

This review is from: ASUS RT-AC68U Wireless-AC1900 Dual Band Gigabit Router IEEE 802.11ac, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n

Pros: I bought this router to replace old (still working with no issues) Linksys WRT54. it was a great router but could not keep up with simultaneous video streaming anymore. Since Linksys become Belkin this brand went down in reliability so I decided to try Asus. So far it was only good experience - setup took an about 5-10 minutes, no CD required. UI is intuitive and offers even more than I need. I recently upgraded firmware to most recent one and it was only tome when I was required to reboot the router. Speed test - at maximum ISP speed wired and very good wireless. I have 4500 sq f house and range is excellent w/o any range extenders. We have 2 desktops, 4 laptops, 3 iPads, 3 iPhones, 2 Chromecasts and all this is handled with no issues. I had it for about a month, so can't tell regarding long term reliability. I will update review if i will find any issues.

Cons: none so far

Note: If you got $$$ to burn then go ahead buy the RT-AC87U-AC2400 it's currently the top dog.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent AC Router!

This review is from: ASUS RT-AC68U Wireless-AC1900 Dual Band Gigabit Router IEEE 802.11ac, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n

Pros: Easy Installation, excellent wireless coverage, fast speed when paired with AC wireless card.

Cons: Price

Other Thoughts: Bought this to replace a low quality belkin router that I had for a year and it has not failed me yet in the year that I have had it. Installation is simple and booted up with no issues. Customization is easy with the browser UI. No connection drops within the year I've had it so far.

4 out of 5 eggsAsus RT AC68U

This review is from: ASUS RT-AC68U Wireless-AC1900 Dual Band Gigabit Router IEEE 802.11ac, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n

Pros: Loaded deluxe package this router has more stuff than most people will ever use,

Cons: For a router that supports all the latest standards it is sorely lacking in 3G/ 4G usb modem support, For a cutting edge router it lacks support for current 4G air card support.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to use with my wireless air card and come to find out it will not work with my air card / modem. It's an expensive paper weight right now until either they decide to update their modem support or until my area gets some other options for broadband internet.

5 out of 5 eggsExactly as expected

This review is from: ASUS RT-AC68U Wireless-AC1900 Dual Band Gigabit Router IEEE 802.11ac, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n

Pros: Excellent throughput, amazing range.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I bought this router to replace my Linksys E3200, which claimed to have a 300/300 throughput. Wired I was getting 94 mbs, wireless 32. Upon purchasing this router I was getting 94 mbs wired, and 40 mbs wireless. Decided to replace my wireless cards to dual band, I went with the TP-Link N900. Also a D-Link DWA-171 USB AC wireless adapter for my laptop. My laptop in my bedroom is reporting at 124 mbs (one floor directly above the router) and my desktop in the basement is reporting 121 mbs (run Comcast speed test along with Ookla). I'm paying for 105 mbs. Comcast is juicing my signal to account for data loss but none of my neighbors (Philadelphia) are on 5gz or AC. I was also surprised to learn that my brand new laptops Ethernet port was limited to 94 mbs. I chose this router from many reviews including the CNET review and have not been let down. I have put this router to the test (running 2 ps3s, a ps4, three laptops downloading and a desktop on SC2.. yes my roommates and I need the bandwidth) and have not experienced any interruptions, lag or problems with range. I live in a 2400 sq/ft house and have full bars everywhere in my house, and actually 3 houses away in the cul de sac. A+ recommended product.

1 out of 5 eggsNot so good

This review is from: ASUS RT-AC68U Wireless-AC1900 Dual Band Gigabit Router IEEE 802.11ac, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n

Pros: Fast (when working), nice UI and advanced options.

Cons: WLAN speeds will reduce from 53Mbps to 1Mbps (@2.4 GHz) randomly and require a reboot. This router costs to much money for me to have to reboot it randomly. Will return and keep shopping. This router has tons of reviews that described similar problems. Dont waste your time or money.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We want to thank you for your time posting this review and I understand that you have problem with the speed on the router and I want to help you with it. 5 out of 5 eggsASUS RT-AC68

This review is from: ASUS RT-AC68U Wireless-AC1900 Dual Band Gigabit Router IEEE 802.11ac, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n

Pros: Faster then a speeding gigabyte per second
More powerful then a single core processor
Able to manage all of your wireless devices with a single interface

Cons: Is not actually called SUPERROUTER

Other Thoughts: Purchased this along side the ASUS PCE-AC68U, and they make a great pair. On top of that, upgrading to a 5GHz band on our smart phones and laptops provide a much better speed then our 2.4GHz band.

3 out of 5 eggsTerrible English

This review is from: ASUS RT-AC68U Wireless-AC1900 Dual Band Gigabit Router IEEE 802.11ac, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n

Pros: Lots of features you probably won't use.

Cons: For $200 a pop, they should be able to fire their translator and hire someone who actually speaks English. Some of the text is a slap in the face. Not a premium product at all.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Router on the Market

This review is from: ASUS RT-AC68U Wireless-AC1900 Dual Band Gigabit Router IEEE 802.11ac, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n

Pros: What makes a great router? First, I just want to plug in all the cables, turn it on, and go and start using it. Maybe ask me what password I want for my wireless router, and what encryption type I want to use, defaulting to the best type, and that's about it. I don't want to install any bloatware of any type and I want it to be as PnP as a wireless router can possibly be. Secondly, when I do want to venture into the admin console, I want a simple interface, and I want to be able to see what's connected, update firmware simply, and adjust settings easily. Lastly, of course, I want it to handle all my 17+ wireless devices at varying ranges and standards and be very fast while handling all of that load. This router does all of this without batting an eye, and as such, I think Asus has produced the undisputed king of AC routers. I wouldn't buy anything but this.

Cons: Pricey, but worth every dime.

Other Thoughts: This is the first router that I bought that wasn't Linksys. They've seem to gone down hill at a very fast rate. Also, this router automatically handles downloading and updating the firmware, though you do have to start the process, whereas you had to navigate to Linksys' site, find your router, check if there was a firmware update, etc. I also love not having a CD crammed down my throat that I MUST use to start my router. NO! I plugged you in, WORK! That's all I want! I know a wireless router can never be like that, but Asus is now WAY closer to PnP than Linksys in its madness could ever be.

5 out of 5 eggsCan watch honey boo boo in my bedroom

This review is from: ASUS RT-AC68U Wireless-AC1900 Dual Band Gigabit Router IEEE 802.11ac, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n

Pros: I have had this router for a few weeks and so far I have been able to watch anything I have been wanting to watch in my bedroom. For a very long time I have been trying out many routers because my apartment walls are solid concrete and there is a lot of interference but this router's range has been able to get through all those issues, this router is the real MVP.

Cons: watching Honey Boo Boo in my bedroom.
