5 out of 5 eggsFaster - Better Wireless Coverage

Pros: -Generally simple to setup using an apple iPhone or Android Phone
- designed for the non geek to easily setup and configure, just fill in the blanks
-coverage is more dynamic and self adjusting
-high end wireless router with great speed and range
-also makes a great access point for expanded coverage in a large house and/or office.
- the app gives you the ability to monitor overall bandwidth for your network and by individual devices to see what device and what time that device needs priority over others - ie, streaming TV, Gaming System.
- also using the app, you can specify what device has priority over the internet and for how long, this way you can optimize the device for priority over all other to get better internet speed to a specific device. (sorry if I lost you here)
- also allows you can to do a speed test and record the results within the device. (great to see when your isp is lacking)
- a truly smart device, keeps itself updated without interruption and will monitor the surrounding interference to optimize it's own coverage and signal.

Cons: - Must have an iPhone or Android phone you can download the app on to setup
- does not have the ability to use a computer for setup
- poor documentation for the tech geek in all of us
- only one internal port, if this is your main router and you need extra ports - you will need a switch for expansion - I recommend purchasing a gigabyte switch (don't go cheap and use an older hub, 5 port gigabyte switch is around $49)

Other Thoughts: - most review were written by people expecting something other than what this device was designed for
- I don't have either an iPhone or an android phone, but several android tablet - setup would only work on one of the tablets - but after the apps worked on all.
- this device is mostly design for home networks (can be used for work) - does not give you the option for port forwarding or adjustment of any kind. So, if you are looking for a device to act as a high end firewall with pass through for servers, camera, etc. you are out of luck.

1 out of 5 eggsCool idea but does not work like implied or advertised

Pros: Aesthetically pleasing
Application is a neat idea
Easy Setup

Cons: No way to manually set channel
Noise Mitigation does NOT work

I have a Gigabit internet connection and it cannot manage the bandwidth despite having a gigabyte switch (1 port) on the device and the uplink port it does not seem to have the potency to manage that type of connection.

It also is supposed to see other networks and avoid that channel to improve performance but even though a nearby network is on the exact same channel and with a similar signal strength, it does not change channels - even after restarting it or reconfiguring. There is also no way to simply manually set the channel, which would likely solve nearly all my issues....

No clue why the device is as user friendly as it is but completely neutered and unable to perform as it is described?

Unless you cannot setup a router and live in the country, I would not recommend purchasing this device.

5 out of 5 eggsnon-power user pleased with product!

Pros: Setup was very easy. I have an android phone and the onhub connected to the phone/app using it's internal speaker. IOS is evidently a manual process- I didn't test this. Range is far better than my previous router, an old WRT54G. I really like how the app shows connected devices and their current/history usage (wifi connected only for usage). The device names showing in the app was sometimes wonky, but usually enough info to track down the device by mac address. The device names in the list can be edited to something more useful than "android device-xxxxx." In-app speed test seems handy. The thing is certainly much more attractive than most others. I haven't test guest mode, but the internally described on.here website was available via wifi.

Cons: You currently don't have the option to not broadcast your SSID. This put me off somewhat, but since sharing the wifi password is easier with the app, I'll just strengthen our password.

Other Thoughts: I've seen a lot of discussions about "unknown" devices in various threads but didn't really drill down to the issue. It turns out- in my case anyway- that the "unknowns" listed in app is the data usage by devices wired to the cheap switch I have connected to the one LAN port. I count this as information that would be nice, but not a deal breaker for me. I'm not going to test channels or whatever because I don't care- I don't want to manage specific devices. The app will let you see ip address/band/etc when you select specific devices- I can see that my daughter's ancient NABI is connected on the 5ghz band, so that's important, right?

I like it, because I don't have to micromanage it. YMMV.

2 out of 5 eggsPerforms well but management interface lacking

Pros: Compact, high performance antennas

Cons: Very limited management interface

Other Thoughts: Ended up returning it. Having a smartphone app (with very limited functionality) to set it up initially is fine, not having a web interface for in depth configuration is not.

5 out of 5 eggsSimple Setup, Better Signal Strength

Pros: Quick setup, Great Control through App, Single Device Priority, Good signal strength.

Cons: It only comes with one ethernet cable about six feet long, thin cable though. The wave control is way to simplified, basically you can only set one device through the app and then when you wave something slowly over the base unit, it gets priority for the time you have set, and each subsequent wave resets that timer (1, 2, 4 hours). That by itself is not worth the additional money so hopefully the ASUS quality will make the cost difference worth it.

Other Thoughts: It's smaller than it looks. I don't like how the cables are so high in the back, would be better to have them as low to the bottom of the unit as possible horizontally instead. The glowing teal light at the base intensity is configurable. Yes, it only has one output but you can buy simple 8 port Gig E switches for $20. The setup actually can pair using sounds for first time setup, took two tries so I had to flip my phone over and hold it directly above the unit (there was minor background sounds). Why can't I find any reviews of this anywhere yet? and why can't we find information about how wave control for prioritization works before we buy it. Hopefully this helps a little.
