5 out of 5 eggsFast and cheap!

Pros: Fast ethernet speeds, faster than integrated ethernet ports. USB 3.0 is a huge plus, drivers install automatically and no problem with them!

Cons: none so far!

1 out of 5 eggsno name product

Pros: MAC address is a reasonable font size.

Cons: SYBA is not even proud enough to put their name on this product.
The installation instructions conflict with the order of operations.
2.1 states connect the hardware.
2.2 states do NOT connect the hardware until the software is installed.

Other Thoughts: There are several other manufactures who are proud enough to put their name on the product. I should have invested in one of those.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great with MacOSX 10.9

Pros: Works great with OSX Mavericks 10.9.2 using the AX88179 USB driver which you can download from the manufacturer's website.

Cons: It's a simple device, just USB<->1G Ethernet. I wish the link-status lights were more informative (just tells you link and traffic, not the speed). Still, some blinky lights are better than none.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: I'm using this adapter on an optiplex 920 dell with an i7 and usb 3.0. It's being used as a second nic for a homeserver and has stayed 100% stable.

This server is running debian stable so the drivers for the adapter are included in at least kernel 3.2.0-4, hoewver they might be included in older kernels as well.

I've been consistently seeing around 70-80 mB/s through this adapter.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsworks on win8 out of box

Pros: did not need to install drivers for win 8
build quality seems good
connects to USB by cable so it is not rigid one piece setup
ran speed test to provider clocking at 50 M and file transfer (100bm switch) at ~11MB/s for 13 GB file

Cons: none
need gigabit switch to run at gigabit speed :-)

Other Thoughts: needed it for my WiFi only hybrid Sony DUO laptop. now i can take it to clients without WiFi :-)

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: USB3
Gigabit
Simple install

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: My network got hit by lightning and took out the network adapter in my laptop. So I got this to keep me up an running till I can get a new laptop. My laptop doesn't have USB3 but I wanted the Gigabit over 100Mb because I can get slightly faster speeds. I have a gigabit network so I'm limited by the USB2 in my laptop not the 100Mb of the adapter. Only slightly faster but every little bit helps. As well as future proofed.

5 out of 5 eggsNice and reliable

Pros: It simply works. I use it for my laptop, so I connect/disconnect it a lot - always restores connection, no problems so far.

Cons: It doesn't work without drivers. I have another ethernet adapter - it doesn't require drivers, but it's 100 Mbit. So when a friend brought his laptop to me - I was unable to connect it to internet because I lost the drivers. It's very minor con though.

Other Thoughts: When I downloaded files from my laptop to my PC the speed was 25 megabytes per second, I think the bottleneck was the laptop and software ( I used ftp ). Anyways it's very good peace of hardware and worth its money.

5 out of 5 eggsanother winner

Pros: Good price and great performance. Follow the installation instructions and you won't have any problems. You'll need to know if your USB port is 3.0 or 2.0 in order to select the correct driver.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsJUST GET IT!

Pros: Gigabit Ethernet Adapter,
Self powered (via USB)
3.0 USB so you get full 1000Mbps (not 480Mbps as in the case of 2.0 Gigabit Ethernet Adapters)
Power and Activity LEDs.
Does NOT get hot! It stays pretty cool.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Just wondering how long it will last. The same chipset is in another brand "S_ _ _" that sells for $7.00 more than this model and they give the same performance and are in identical housings. Save your money and get this one.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks fine on MacOS X 10.8

Pros: Works just fine on MacOS X 10.8 ("Mountain Lion") once you download the drivers from the ASIX website (ASIX being the company that makes the USB-Ethernet chipset used in this device). Only using it on USB 2 at the moment, but speeds are what I would expect and connections are much more reliable than over WiFi.

Cons: Had to do a little searching to find and download the driver from the chipset maker's site. SYBA seems to have decided that they don't support MacOS X on this adapter, but the chipset does definitely work.
