5 out of 5 eggsWorks great as a gateway router card

Pros: Able to simultaneously saturate a fiber connection (150+ MB/S up and down) using the server as a router (one NIC as Internet connection, other NIC as local connection)
Two Realtek chips
Cable connections far enough apart for easy connecting and labeling

Cons: Didn't make the server able to do 150 FPS while gaming :-)

Other Thoughts: Using with Linux (derivative of Ubuntu server 14.04.01) - works out of the box with no issues.

DIdn't try it in Windows or with any kind of connection teaming.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat NIC Card

Pros: -Great value on Newegg Shell Shocker deal
-Drivers easy to install, available online
-Nice to have 2 NICs in 1 for complex network setups, etc.

Cons: -Not a product con, but Newegg should take note:
Your Shell Shocker deal on this product says 'While Supplies Last'; meanwhile, you revert back to retail pricing when the Shell Shocker deal expires at the end of day, not when you run out of stock.

4 out of 5 eggsWorked great for 5 months

Pros: -Dual Port
-Navigated traffic well
-Allowed me to have a full gigabit network
I got this on a Shell Shocker deal and was really impressed with how well it worked It exceeded My expectations, Until it didnt.

Cons: It Plugged and It played for 5 months, then it was detected but wouldn't pass any traffic. Spent a week diagnosing it switched motherboards operating systems etc. Dead as a doornail

Other Thoughts: I'm not sure if I'm the only one who got a lemon or if this is a more telling problem but I will try to run the warranty, but if they want me to pay for shipping to RMA I will drop this like a hot potato (why these days do we have to pay for a company to fix their mistakes is a mystery)And pick up an intel chipset card

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for PfSense

Pros: -10/100/1000
-2 ports
-reliable (for my network load at least)
-cheap
-working Realtek drivers for PfSense
I kinda took a gamble with this card to save some money when i was building my router about 6 or 7 months ago and it has worked great so far. This card is running 24/7 with up to 30 simultaneous connections to other computers, phones, laptops and what ever other things i can hook up to it.

Cons: It could have more ports i guess. An intel chipset and wake on lan would be nice too.

Other Thoughts: If you are thinking of building a PfSense box, dont go with the SYBA SY-PEX24028 or the Rosewill RNG-407. They are the same card and they seem to have some issues that this card does not have.

1 out of 5 eggsDissapointing

Pros: None

Cons: DOA. It plugged n played, even got link lights, even auto-negotiated, one NIC managed to pass some erroneous traffic, the other never a single packet. Tested in two motherboards, multiple cables, spent hours diagnosing layer 3 when all along it was layer 1. Huge disappointment, RMA'ing and going Intel.

Other Thoughts: Would have been a great deal if it worked. Thanks newegg guarantee.

5 out of 5 eggsexcellent

Cons: none, it does what it is supposed to.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks!

Pros: Works! Plug and play.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Packing can be better. It arrived in a non-standard, non-static, bulk packing with no foam or air cushion.

4 out of 5 eggsGood for replacement, okay for labs, NOT for production environments

Pros: They work as intended

Cons: None so far, throughput isn't as high as I would like but that's likely not the part's fault

Other Thoughts: If you need a replacement for your home computer or need some extra functionality to put in your home computer to connect to a NAS or iSCSI storage, then this is a good product and on par with Intel NICs in terms of price.

If you're going to use this in an ESXi environment, there are some important things to note. ESXi 5.5 does NOT support Realtek chipsets any longer. There is a workaround to this, in that you need to install/overwrite the E1000 drivers with ones from ESXi 5.1 which contain the appropriate drivers in order for ESXi 5.5 to see these NICs.

DO NOT use these NICs in production servers. Choose Intel based chipsets.

3 out of 5 eggsNo Native Drivers

Pros: Cheap got it for 17.99.
Recorded speeds of 85MB/s+
PCI-e 1x

Cons: No native windows drivers for 2008r2, Use windows 7 Drivers from their site for 2008r2.
Card is SFF but no SFF bracket.
So I have it in a SFF server with no bracket.

Other Thoughts: My review may be harsh because my other dual card is an Intel server dual port network teaming PCI-E 4x that transfers at 120MB/s. but that card is a $250 vs this $17.99.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We are sorry to hear about the issues you have had when using this device.

While we do try to supply drivers for all of our devices it's not always possible to provide drivers for every operating system.

We do hope that those available will work in compatibility with other systems.

This card does not include a low profile bracket however some of our other models do.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card!

Pros: I needed two network interfaces on my Linux workstation (Ubuntu 13.10) so I could selectively access my home network and my work network. I had originally planned to install a second NIC in the box (one PCIe and one PCI slot open). However, the on-board NIC has known issues running under Linux. I had recently purchased this card and decided to give it a try: It. Just . Works.

I'm able to up/down either of the interfaces and route my traffic as wanted. The performance of the card is good and I no lost-packet issues. I just can't say enough good things about this card, I'm ordering a second to keep handy.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I'm not on Windows, so I haven't tried the teaming software.
