4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Many configuration options that are well organized within a clean UI. The configuration wizards are also pretty good for common tasks like allowing connections to a web server.

Cons: The throughput of this device is less than expected. Even with all of the UTM features disabled, I see sustained throughput at closer to 40Mbps.

Other Thoughts: It seems like some of the problems this device may have had early on have been fixed by updated software. I've had no problems with the wireless.

1 out of 5 eggsTZ series wireless issue

Pros: Response to wireless issue.

Cons: Response to wireless issue.

Other Thoughts: I also had the packet loss issue (WLAN/LAN), but I had it with the TZ180. It has something to do with WPA-PSK encryption. Shouldn't happen under WEP if you can stomach it.

3 out of 5 eggsNot ready for prime time

Pros: Wireless b,g & n, is a nice concept for an all in one firewall. Comes with Sonicwall enhanced OS pre installed. Wizard driven interface is easy to manage even for the noob. No brainier to setup out of the box, just go thought the setup wizard and the appliance is ready to go. The configurable Xx interfaces enable great versatility for vlans. But!!!

Cons: The TZ200w firmware is not ready for use. Once setup, I could not connect to the TZ 200's wireless in any mode. Upgrading to newest firmware allowed for a connection to wireless. But very sketchy. Ping time from weired to wireless range from 40-1023 ms. My linksys home router wireless is less the 1ms. The connection speed fluxuates from 1- 100 mbps over wifi n. Similar results on wifi g. I also have a TZ 180w, it works great no problems. I have an open case with Sonicwall, they say the wireless connectivity "is a known issue" I was given a firmware patch for the problem, but it did not work. Then the rep told me to remove the left antenna, when that did not work i was told "they are working on the problem and i would be notified when its is fixed."
Now forced to use the wired network we are experiencing trouble with it also. Periodic loss of connection for no traceable reason. One minute no internet then its back. the TZ200w has effectively rendered our voip system useless.

Other Thoughts: Continued from Cons: but again all is well when using the tz180w. Voip is crisp over the TZ180w using both wired and wifi phones.
Other thoughts: I like Sonicwall and we are a Sonicwall preferred IT company. I think they will work out the issues, But and its a big but - the TZ200w is not ready to use with the current firmware.
One last thing - Remove the antenna? really? are you kidding? what kind of sloppy workaround is that???
