3 out of 5 eggsCan't go halfway

Pros: Looks cool; has PoE injector; high bandwidth

Cons: There does not seem to be anyplace that mentions this: SONICWALL FIREWALL APPLIANCE REQUIRED!!! You can't go halfway and test the waters with Sonicwall. You either dive in and risk everything, or you don't do it at all. We're opting not to do it at all. Sending back.

ALSO: SonicWall firewalls also require an annual subscription. We went this route with WatchGuard once. It was not fun, and it was not cheap.

Cisco isn't cheap either, but at least we can mix and match it with a different firewall vendor. That and Cisco licences are permanent.

Other Thoughts: If I buy a device, I shouldn't have to keep paying to have it keep working.

5 out of 5 eggsSweet if you have a SonicWALL firewall.

Pros: Configure just one of them and then tell the firewall to replicate that config to the others with a couple of clicks. One firewall to rule them all.

_Does_ include a POE injector.

Top notch security.

When you deploy these just go ahead make the tech support call. They will remote into your computer and config it for you.

Cons: Even though it uses (requires I think) VLANs my installations so far have required a physically seperate port into the firewall. That was the way the SonicWALL tech told me to hook it up. I used the included POE injectors.

Other Thoughts: NOTE: if you buy the multi-pack of 4 or 8 units they do _not_ include the POE injectors. But, they're also cheaper per unit.

Also, you may have a compliance or other reason to need dual Radios. That is a different model. This one is dual Band, not dual Radio.

5 out of 5 eggsGood enterprise wireless solution

Pros: This is the SonicPoint Ne.

- Range is pretty good, even through brick/concrete.
- Nice options for power - PoE from a switch, PoE from an injector (sold separately), or just an AC adapter.
- Nice built-in management features on a TZ/NSA firewall.

Cons: - Pouring hot candle wax in your eyes is more fun than setting these things up with Virtual Access Point. Took a couple of support calls and LOTS of head scratching to get them working.
- PoE injectors are pricey for what they do, although this part number (01-SSC-8577) is supposed to include a

Other Thoughts: We have an NSA 4500 running 14 SonicPoints (12 N/Ne's, 2 G's).

Also, based on this part number (01-SSC-8577) I *think* the WAP is supposed to come bundled with a PoE injector but the description does not say.
