4 out of 5 eggsBullet Proof secure VPN, requiring littlt or no user software.

Pros: Fool proof operation, very reliable, and faster than the unit it is replacing. I bought this unit to replace a Sonicwall VPN200 ( which is obsolete) that is in an astronomical observatory. I would have purchased the SRA 1200 but that unit is nearing (or at) end of life for support.
The SRA1600 has more security features than the VPN200 which is nice, however some of these features require you to buy extra licenses.

Cons: The unit is too pricey for my needs, as I do not need to support a lot of login users simultaneously. I would only purchase this unit at the discount price of $895. This unit is almost 10 times larger than the unit I replaced and it is heavy. The fans are too loud for an office environment.

The real problem with this unit is that firmware and software updates is only available for 6 months, while the hardware warranty is good for a year. As with a lot of these products Dell wants to force you to sign up for additional services and licenses annually at too high a cost, considering the value of of the unit. At the cost of the initial purchase, warranty and software updates should be good for 1-2 years. A 3 year support contract costs over $300

Other Thoughts: I guess that there is not enough profit in making/supporting units the size of the old VPN200. Unfortunately there are not a lot of other options available for this size of unit.
