5 out of 5 eggsWorks great on Linux

Pros: Utilizing Bluez5 with no issues. I stream Internet radio from my computer at work to my lg bluetooth headset and have no issues. Now my phone can keep its battery while I listen to music all day.

Cons: none

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I'm very satisfied! It's small, convenient PnP. I already connected multiple devices to my PC w/ this adapter including: my PS4 controller, my smartphone, and my laptop.

Cons: I'm not crazy about the Bluetooth Assistant. I think I'll give it a little more time to grow on me.

Other Thoughts: Decent transfer speed from my smartphone to my PC. So far, a good purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Bluetooth (BT) dongle under $20

Pros: I purchased this over 2 years ago and it's still working great. No issues on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1. Windows detected the Bluetooth dongle and installed the generic Microsoft drivers for it, (which works great with this), no need for me to use the included disc.

No issues after more than 2 years of use (6+ hours per day) with BT keyboards, BT mice, BT game controllers, BT wireless headsets, audio streaming to BT speakers, BT tethering to a WiFi hotspot, and Windows Bluetooth File Transfer all at the same time. Highly recommended.

Cons: None after 2 years of use.

4 out of 5 eggsIt works.

Pros: Works exactly as advertised.

Cons: A bit slow, but that's the tech that it uses... (Bluetooth 2.1 has a maximum speed of 3mbps)

Does require a little bit of fiddling to make it work.

Requires software from the manufacturer to make it work.

Other Thoughts: This will let you connect Bluetooth devices, but it will be the slowest connection speed you will ever use in modern times. (not an issue for Bluetooth keyboards or mice, or for most non-lossless audio transmission)

2 out of 5 eggsSmall and it works, kinda....

Pros: Small, inexpensive

Works with most BT devices (see cons)

Cons: Cover came off on the first removal from the USB port, had to glue it back in its place.

Does not work well (at all?) with my cellphone

Intrusive software, looks like a from a gone by era

The adaptor occasionally fails to wake up properly from a sleep condition (when the computer it is attached to wakes up from a sleep state).I have to disable and re-enable it when that happens, a major inconvenience when I am only using a BT mouse.

Other Thoughts: Not worth an RMA at my purchase price, otherwise I would have returned it because it doesn't detect all the smartphone services my phone is capable off, the one it detects does not work (audio), Works fine so far with other simpler BT devices like a mouse and a handsfree headset. I uninstalled the Toshiba software after I found my smart phone did not work and I am using the Windows BT stack which is a lot less intrusive and simpler to deal with. I would have liked to try BTD-v401 from AZIO which comes with the CSR stack, which unfortunately can not be used with BTD-v201 even though the chipset used in this device is from CSR. I haven't verified the range claimed by AZIO but that aspect isn't important to me as all my BT devicesI will be in the close proximity of the receiver.

3 out of 5 eggsoverpriced, but they work

Pros: small (but now that's standard), pairs reasonably quickly

Cons: over priced at $12.99

Other Thoughts: It does what it needs to do. I had no problem pairing from a 15 foot range. Just wish the price was more reasonable.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Sound, Relatively Inexpensive

Pros: small, Inexpensive, It works, includes mini setup software disk, small.

Cons: EZ set up instructions included, but it did not work like the instructions said.

Other Thoughts: loaded software without adapter plugged in, and it would not work. So, I plugged the adapter in and installed the software afterwards, then it recognized the adapter. Had to right click on Windows Media Player, then audio, and select the paired device in order to hear the feed. Took me a while (no instructions about that).

5 out of 5 eggsHandy

Pros: Decent range. Using a keyboard, I got results out to about 35 feet without obstructions.

Just does the job, and the price is good.

Cons: I found the software utility that comes with this device to be annoying. Little dialogs that fly across the screen? Please.

It could easily be much simpler and more user-friendly.

But it does work, and I found it possible (though not simple enough) to turn off the annoyances. So no eggs deducted.

Other Thoughts: The specs list this dongle as BT 2.0, Class 1 with a 100 meter range.

Buyers should realize that range spec applies only if the paired device is also Class 1.

100 meters is a nice long ways. That might have some useful possibilities for networking where speed and security aren't major concerns. (BT 2.1 is more secure).

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent BT device

Pros: Size
Sound Quality

Pretty good for the price, happy with the experience while paired with my Sony XB950BT and Koss BT540i headphones.

Cons: Well, it isn't as clean and clear as the higher end BT dongles, Sennheiser made one that is better, but it is now discontinued I believe and retailed for $89 or so.

The software took a long time to install, and I've a beast of a pc with a solid state hard drive. Thought it froze, but it was just taking forever.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Bluetooth fot the Money

Pros: Installed software first, then put adapter into USB port and it worked great. No dropouts, reasonable range. Great stereo music streaming via A2DP.

Cons: Forget about 100M range. Pretty much like most other Bluetooth devices. Not a big problem.

Other Thoughts: For $13 you can't go wrong.
