4 out of 5 eggsFigured out security

Pros: Here is the routers page to set it up and change the security settings. After an evening of research I found it and it works. The user name is admin and the password is admin also. Log in and change the network name and change the KEY to your password and it will restart. And Wa La a secured setting

Cons: Instructions are poor

Other Thoughts: Now that I have the router log in page, it is a pretty cool device.

1 out of 5 eggsA good product turned into junk by poor software.

Pros: Nice flashing lights to keep your dog mesmerized and attract moths.

Cons: Like others, trying to configure this "device" using the supplied instructions is this side of useless. When I got the user interface to come up, following the instructions for AP mode, it's says select "wireless settings" then "AP Client"... there is no such item listed, so there appears to be no way to setup security.

If having an open/unsecured network access point doesn't bother you, then you're in business as it does work fine.

Other Thoughts: Not sure what I'll do with this thing... maybe when there's nothing good on TV or I'm in the mood to bang my head against the wall, I'll try messing with it somemore to get some sembalance of a secure connection defined.

1 out of 5 eggsPowerlink Pt-ap2403

Pros: Small, and portable

Cons: It sucks, it doesn't work, I've been able to get to the setup page and every time I try to set it up it freezes. Biggest waste of money.

Other Thoughts: Some support would be nice

3 out of 5 eggsMany issues

Pros: Like some reviews say, using it as an AP is simple and straight forward. It is small and light making it easy to carry along when traveling.

Cons: I have the same problems as the review titled 'Avoid'. I cannot get to the router's web server to configure it. I will try the solution provided by the post placed by Egerio.

Other Thoughts: I guess this is an example of 'you get what you pay for'.

2 out of 5 eggsGood Price - Decent Hardware - Abysmal Software

Pros: From the hardware this looks like the Swiss Pocket Knife of Wireless:
Accesspoint, Extender and Client (i.e. WiFi-Ethernet bridge). I bought it
for the third purpose, connecting a Sony Blu-Ray Player without the need to
buy the overpriced Sony Dongle. For this the tiny size is perfect and pricing is excellent.

Cons: Alas the good specification and decent-looking hardware is tainted by what
must be one of the worst user interfaces I have seen. Configuration is by
connecting the device via Ethernet to the computer and opening a web client.
However the client is slow, unresponsive and on some browsers (Safari,
Chrome) does not seem to do anything (you think you configured it, but it
just ignores it. The manual is terse and for another version of the
software. Furthermore tons of expert options you probably will not need
(such as buffer sizes) are interspersed, and some technical terms (e.g.
`Site Survey' lists the available networks) use a nonstandard translation. I
spent over an hour on what should have been 10 minutes.

Other Thoughts: If you have patience and value your time at less than $10 per hour this
device will do its purpose. If you want something your mother could use,
don't even think about it.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as a wifi client - but don't use Google Chrome

Pros: Will work as a wifi client for Xbox 360

Cons: Setup is not well-documented, and simply will NOT work if you use Google Chrome as a browser.

Other Thoughts: The only thing I wanted this to do was to act as a wifi client for the Xbox, and it does. Here's how: use Firefox on a computer to go to 192.168.16.254 and ignore the "quick setup" wizard. Expand the "Wireless Settings" list and click "Site Survey." Select your wifi router and click "Add Profile." Enter the password and click "Apply." Now go up to "Profile" under the "Wireless Settings" and select the router setting you just created. Click "Activate" and you should be good to go. Move the PT-AP2403 to your Xbox, connect the USB and ethernet and it should work. On your wifi router, make sure UDP ports 26941 and 45808 are open and directed to the Xbox.

5 out of 5 eggseasy to use

Pros: No set up necessary for using as AP.

Cons: Advanced settings still required reading the manual for users with little background of knowledge or experience.

Other Thoughts: when there is problem, reset by pressing the bottom for 5 seconds will usually solve it.

2 out of 5 eggsfrustrated, so far

Pros: small
great specs
seems to allow wifi on channel 14

Cons: frustrating set up
inadequate user guide
still haven't gotten it to work properly
no link to firmware update - manufacturer seems to be Premiertek

Other Thoughts: I've gotten to the unit's web server.
1. Disconnect your PC's ethernet cable
2. Plug the mini-router into your PC's USB port
3. Select MP01 as your wireless network
4. Open a browser and enter the web server's IP address
5. Still can't get the device to update properly, but it's a start.

1 out of 5 eggsAVOID

Pros: Works as a router BUT...(see CONS)

Cons: ...I canNOT connect to the Powerlink server to configure it (pinging the server over the past 2 days also results in failure - does this server really exist?) and so I canNOT secure the router. So I have a wide open wireless link open to hackers. email to Powerlink (so-called) Tech Support has produced NO RESPONSE. Unless you plan to have a link wide open to hackers or just want to offer a free service to all and sundry I would STAY AWAY from this product!

Other Thoughts: NO SECURITY, NO SUPPORT.
