5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Speeds

This review is from: NETIS WF2190 AC1200 Wireless High Gain USB 3.0 Adapter with Dual 5dBi Antenna & USB Cradle Extension Compatible with Windows MAC Linux OS

Pros: My download speeds increased about 10 fold when coming from an old Alfa 2.4Ghz adapter, so I'm really pleased. The product seems durable and the antennas seem high quality. No dropped connections or any stability issues so far.

Cons: N/A

5 out of 5 eggsAwsome product

This review is from: NETIS WF2190 AC1200 Wireless High Gain USB 3.0 Adapter with Dual 5dBi Antenna & USB Cradle Extension Compatible with Windows MAC Linux OS

Pros: It was easy to put together and it works flawless. It is a max of 10 feet from my router. I dont play games so I cant comment on that. Streaming works perfect. Once connected I haven't had a single problem. I have it on 5.0 gig band. The cord is plenty long I do have the hole thing hidden behind my 19in monitor and I can see the green blinking when I wake up my PC. So its not to big

Cons: I did have to install the drivers for it to accept my wifi password. Running win 10 it wouldn't connect without them. I also had to reset the router and put it all in a 2nd time for it to connect. not a plug and play on windows 10

Other Thoughts: Iam a fan of wireless cards over a usb any day but it saved me from the card and a extended range antenna. I wish I had a usb 3.0 so it would run faster.

5 out of 5 eggsStraight upgrade with solid reliability

This review is from: NETIS WF2190 AC1200 Wireless High Gain USB 3.0 Adapter with Dual 5dBi Antenna & USB Cradle Extension Compatible with Windows MAC Linux OS

Pros: I purchased this adapter to replace an old TP Link adapter that had started to fail and drop connections, and even BSOD my computer. This adapter arrived in a rather old and dusty box, but the contents were unharmed. Install took no more than 10 minutes. I immediately noticed not only the stable connection I was missing, but the higher data transfer rate. With the distance and number of walls between my desktop and the wireless router, the second antenna clearly makes a big difference.

I've owned the adapter for a little while now, and all seems to be good. I've not had a single drop out, and the transfer speed averages about 150Mbp/s. I'm happy with that, and hope that I get the same sort of mileage out of this adapter as I did the last one.

Cons: With the two antennas, the adapter is pretty tall and is best mounted on the included stand. Forget trying to plug it directly into your computer. Some people might not like this, or have the space for the stand. I just have mine sat on my tower.

The install CD does not give an option to install only the driver. You get the driver and some included software. The software hasn't interfered with Windows' default interface, but it is a little irritating to have software I don't need packaged with a driver that I do need.

Other Thoughts: Keeping my Win 7 desktop online. I don't know about compatibility for more recent OSes, but given how standard the software and driver both are, there should not be any issue.

Would be nice if the stand had rubber feet or a sticky base. I can see some people accidentally knocking theirs off their desks.

1 out of 5 eggsHe is an awful seller. So rude to customers

This review is from: NETIS WF2190 AC1200 Wireless High Gain USB 3.0 Adapter with Dual 5dBi Antenna & USB Cradle Extension Compatible with Windows MAC Linux OS

Pros: I contacted this seller and he was so rude to me. he used so many awkward words in his email communication and I would not buy from him again and do not recommend him to others. I hope New egg removes him from here.

Cons: I placed my order on Tuesday but seller shipped my item with delay and I have to wait the weekend and hope to get my parcel middle of next week. No tracking number was provided for me on Neweggs website. I won't buy from this seller again in the future. I hope at least his item quality is fine at least and not a piece of junk.

1 out of 5 eggsAwesome product, while it lasted.

This review is from: NETIS WF2190 AC1200 Wireless High Gain USB 3.0 Adapter with Dual 5dBi Antenna & USB Cradle Extension Compatible with Windows MAC Linux OS

Pros: After installing drivers, worked like a charm on my new build. Highly recommend it.

Cons: see other below

Other Thoughts: Update 02/13/16. Unit died. Cannot get it to work. Computer detects it when i plug it in to the USB. No power or activity light. Lasted less than 7 months.

2 out of 5 eggsDon't bother if you need this on Linux

This review is from: NETIS WF2190 AC1200 Wireless High Gain USB 3.0 Adapter with Dual 5dBi Antenna & USB Cradle Extension Compatible with Windows MAC Linux OS

Pros: Install was pretty straightforward on Windows and OS X. Very good speeds, decent range, doesn't drop signal as often as a lot of others

Cons: Completely outdated Linux drivers. With a lot of compiling and manual configuration, you may or may not get it installed. Got it running as of Ubuntu 14.04, but not sure if it still works on the newer versions.

Hasn't worked on Fedora since Fedora 21.

Other Thoughts: I would have given this 4 eggs, but the main reason I bought it was for it's alleged compatibility with OS X and Linux...and it falls flat on it's face on Linux. Even when it was running on Linux, it was noticeably slower than on Windows...do not buy if this is for a Linux machine. Otherwise, pretty solid for it's price

5 out of 5 eggsEffective for Double Duty: Desktop or Laptop

This review is from: NETIS WF2190 AC1200 Wireless High Gain USB 3.0 Adapter with Dual 5dBi Antenna & USB Cradle Extension Compatible with Windows MAC Linux OS

Pros: This adapter has been good for double duty: with the extension & stand for a work-station during the day and without the stand & antennae for a laptop in the evening. So far it's worked well for a 5G wireless network for both.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: This hasn't been used with a USB 3.0 ready system, but is up to both jobs with both computers via USB 2.0.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat for a usb adapter

This review is from: NETIS WF2190 AC1200 Wireless High Gain USB 3.0 Adapter with Dual 5dBi Antenna & USB Cradle Extension Compatible with Windows MAC Linux OS

Pros: cheap, fast, easy to install. it was plug and play for me. I was surprised that I got my full speed of 110mbs in the living room on my htpc plex server

Cons: Nothing really.

it's bulky, the base is not magnetic like the asus and other brands.

Other Thoughts: I have only used for a couple days but I haven't lost connection nor dropped a bar in signal strength. I wasn't expecting this performance from a usb adapter. my mATX motherboard has a dual slot gpu in it so it covers my pcie x1 slot.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks fine after painfull install

This review is from: NETIS WF2190 AC1200 Wireless High Gain USB 3.0 Adapter with Dual 5dBi Antenna & USB Cradle Extension Compatible with Windows MAC Linux OS

Pros: Fast, easy to install when using a compatible USB connection

Cons: Tried to connect to the USB 2.x of my Asus M378N-VM. Constantly disconnected/reconnected. Sometimes would run for a hour or so. Contacted Netsis support which consisted of some guy in China who sent a new driver that was fo Win 10, not Win 7. I think there is some incompatibility between the the USB 2.x in my MB so I purchased a Rosewill PCIe USB 3.0 add in card and it now all works fine.

Other Thoughts: Do not know if there is a systemic USB 2.x compatibility issue.
