1 out of 5 eggs2nd review, cant' take the heat

Pros: cost

Cons: heat

Other Thoughts: worked well in the winter, it now consistently has to be reset / hard booted now that the warmer weather is here. Having a fan nearby helps extend the reboot time to 2x weekly, without it requires 2x daily at least.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Router

Pros: The router has dual band, and is relatively inexpensive. It has a very modern appeal to its look also. I bought this router to replace my old router that constantly needed restarts. No problems at all.

Cons: When I first got this router, it worked strangely for the first hour and had to be restarted a few times. It isn't a big deal since it works 100% ever since.

Other Thoughts: This is a great router for the price.

4 out of 5 eggsNot too shabby

Pros: Got this when it was on sale for $49 so not a bad price to pay. Has been working great so far with only a few drops. Lots of options within settings.

Cons: Each band has to be setup as a separate connection. Gets really hot!! Signal strength is not as strong as I would like. I have a fairly small house and it slows a bit in my bedroom.

Other Thoughts: If you can get this at a good price I would definitely give it a go.

2 out of 5 eggsDoesn't work with Xbox 360

Pros: -Cheap.
-Wifi and ethernet worked fine with my computers (G4 imac, 2011 MBP), iphone, ipad, and ps3.
-Good range.
-Setup was not difficult. Connected to my cable modem with no problems.

Cons: My Xbox 360 could not connect to internet/xbox live through this router on either wifi or ethernet. I kept getting "MTU problem" or "no connection to internet" errors on the xbox while all my other devices connected fine. MTU settings were correct on the Tenda. I tried forwarding all the ports the xbox needed and nothing. Emailed Tenda and never heard back. Got a Cisco router with the same features for $30 more than the Tenda and everything works as expected and better with no hassle.

I noticed the Cisco wifi was much faster at the back of my house than the Tenda was.

Other Thoughts: I did not try the usb port option. 2.4ghz and 5ghz wifi are set as two different networks instead of one like most brand name routers. If you just need a cheap router for a laptop, it might work for you. If you have an XBOX 360, do not buy it.

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: Dual band
Gigabit
Price

Cons: As others have said, it gets hot. There seems to be a bit of a delay when connecting to it.....wired or wireless. I've had a few dropped signals. Only "OK" signal strength. Web interface leaves a bit to be desired as it is clunky, but it works. Bad support!

Other Thoughts: Overall, the setup of this product was easy. If you've setup a wifi router before, you should be able to figure this one out. Where this product falls short is mostly through the software it's configured with. Yes, the signal strength isn't the best, but it'll do.
The software is bad though. Simple things like allowing devices on my network to open up ports utilizing UPNP and it allows it, but only for so long. Access to my Plex server suffers because of this. It has this niffty little "save" button so I should be able to leave that open so I can access it all the time, sadly that little "save" button doesn't seem to do anything.
I've emailed their support without so much as a peep from them.
And, as I mentioned in my "Cons" for the product, there seems to be this split second delay (which I didn't have on my previous router) when going out on the internet. This happens with my PC, which is hardwired, and my phone.
Also, doing things like MAC address filtering works, but because of the web interface/software, it's a bit of a pain in the rear! It'd also be nice to assign names to MAC addresses so you actually know which each MAC address is and it'd make it easier to manage that list.

The sad part is I really wanted to like this thing but I'm afraid I can't recommend this until they release a firmware update that'll hopefully address some of these issues. With the lack of support I've received thus far....who knows when/if that'll ever happen.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Value for Dual Band Gigabit Router

Pros: Works very well, strong signal throughout the house, great value for a dual band gigabit router. Allows me to reserve a small amount of bandwidth for my Obi with Google Voice. Compared to my old router, the interface on this one is very responsive. Plenty of options in settings.

Cons: I have had a few dropped wireless signals-two to be exact over the month I've had this. Unit does get pretty hot, but as long as it does it's job I have no reason to care how hot it gets.

Other Thoughts: A supplier of A/V Cables out on the west coast known for offering good quality products at rock-bottom prices is going to start selling this model under its own name. That fact in and of itself is a pretty good testimonial.

4 out of 5 eggsGood value budget "a" router

Pros: o Solid basic simultaneous dual-band router
o Supports WPA2 PSK on both channels
o connects to devices and stays connected
o Excellent value
o Excellent English user guide

Cons: o Runs very hot
o Range OK, not great
o Can't be set up as a bridge
o Setup is a little finicky, requiring re-input of selections, particularly WPA2
o Can't adjust antenna power
o Doesn't run with DD-WRT or Tomato

Other Thoughts: I wanted an "a" band router to support a new tablet. The Tenda N60 does that. It runs very hot, which may affect the life of the device. I'm sorry that it doesn't have more functionality, but it does what it claims to do and is a very good value for the money.

4 out of 5 eggsBasic N gig router with tons of features.

Pros: -Dual Band so you can have 2.4ghz clients and 5ghz simultaneously
-Ability to add static routes
-Specify other private ranges for DHCP
-Extremely easy to setup, no need to use the disc or WPS
-All my 5ghz devices are connected at 250+mbps
-Guest network works great
-Tons of useful security features
-Supports usb printer or hdd...I have it working great with HP Deskjet F335 All in one without issues, very easy to enable and setup.
-Set qos (bandwidth limitations) on specific ips, even on the guest network.
-Actually has decent logging, but doesn't support a syslog server :(

Cons: -Gets hot quickly! I'd suggest you place this in a well ventilated area. May require active cooling solution to prolong life
-Does not allow you to have both 2.4 and 5ghz running wpa2. Only allows one frequency to run WPA2 and the other has to run WPA...stupid!
-2.4ghz seems much slower than the 5ghz, but that may be due to interference with neighbors in apt building. I tested all 3 channels and
-Does not support dd-wrt....yet

Other Thoughts: I haven't tested gigabit local speeds but I will be in the near future and update my review. I do like the features of the router and ease of use, but I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it or not. The heat and the fact that it doesn't support wpa2 on both frequencies would be enough to make most return it. More to come in the next 2 weeks....

4 out of 5 eggsgood basic router

Pros: Price / performance - has performance of routers 2x the price, dual-band 2.4Ghz & 5Ghz

good replacement for basic use legacy hardware

Cons: lacks multiple modes (access point / bridge), runs a bit hot (had to place on a small shelf to improve airflow).

Other Thoughts: Picked this up last-minute at a brick-and-mortar store (similar holiday sale as the 'egg) for my parents were having some connectivity issues. Replaced a 5-year old single channel 2.4G b/g only unit connected to their cable-modem. Works as expected, much higher throughput with the same brand W322U wireless-n usb adapter and full strength signal (compared to 1/2 strength on b/g old HW). Devices that support 5Ghz (like MacBook Pro, 3rd gen iPad & iPad mini) connect without issue on the fast 5Ghz band.
Was slightly concerned with how hot the unit got on the bottom however putting it on a mesh shelf seems to resolve well. Hope it will last for a few years at least...
