3 out of 5 eggsWhere is the 24/7 tech support?

Pros: Connection speed was good even when far away from router. The device was compatible with linux and there was no need to install drivers as they were included with the linux kernel.

Cons: Status and Activity LED's do not work at all. I did read you have to have a connection for the LED's to light up but even with a connection, no LED's at all. The support is basically non-existent. It says 24/7 but when I called last night no-one answered, it just rang and rang. Today I call and I press one for wireless support. After a minute you get a recording that says, "unfortunately all reps are busy please press one to continue to hold or the call will be disconnected" Who does that??!! So after waiting for 15min and pressing 1 about a dozen times I hung up.

Other Thoughts: I tested the card on two machines both with Ubuntu 14.04, again it transmitted data but no LED lights at all.

Seriously don't waste your time with this product. I have enough reviews where the cards broke fairly often. There is a two year warranty but what good is it if you can not contact the manufacturer? I will be returning this item as this is for a router install and having working LED's is actually important in this case

5 out of 5 eggsLove it...

Pros: It works, has small antennas

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: As a DJ that uses a desktop, I needed internet access. Connects to my phone or the venues hotspot. It does what it's supposed to do.

1 out of 5 eggsFollow Up/customer support..

Pros: NONE!

Cons: Worse customer support there is.
Following up on the review I put in before, another month has gone by as I've contacted customer support, I've purchased an Intel Wifi card in the mean time and it's a lot better. TP-Link's customer service takes A WEEK to reply to a message and all they done is ask if I installed everything correctly and for hardware information. First email was drivers, I replied back yes and what can they do about their card not working. Next email a week later was asking driver # on the card, replied and answered that. The questions kept going on and on, next thing you know I am here again telling others to please don't buy from TP-link, look else where.

THEIR CUSTOMER SUPPORT IS GARBAGE!

2 out of 5 eggsPlease don't buy...

Pros: When it works its good (5eggs for that), but not the case. I cannot get more than 30 KBPS on this card nowadays.I run it on Windows 8.1 and have tried to update drivers, but there are none. Been on the website and its no help as well.

Cons: Just laggy and internet is unusable after 3 weeks of using the card.
Please be warned that if you are building your own PC and run windows 8.1, it will not work.

Other Thoughts: Please release some drivers for Windows 8.1....
Been internetless for the past week...
Sucks that I will have to spend more money on a new card, because this one isn't doing what it does.

Bought on March 16,2014, stopped working by April 2, 2014 and here I am a week later angry and upset.

PLEASE DON'T BUY......

2 out of 5 eggsLow range

Pros: Good price, Easy to install

Cons: Range is too low to work off wireless router, it detects the router but doesn't connect to the internet. My old laptop is able to connect to the wireless router with its out of date wireless card far better than this one.

Other Thoughts: Unless you are right next to your wireless router, find something else

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Customer,

Thank you for your review.

We are sorry to see that you are having some issues with this device.

One issue that I may think of is your current card may be conflicting with the Driver or configuration settings of the old card.

If you would like to reach out to our Technical support team then we can try to assist you further.

Another suggestion is to update or reinstall the Driver for this device. You can find the driver on our website at: http://www.tp-link.us/products/details/?categoryid=&model=TL-WN951N#down

The issues that you may be having can definitely be due to other Networing or Technical issues like your ip address or DNS.

You may contact me directly at howard.he@tp-link.com for any issues or concerns.

Best Regards!

2 out of 5 eggsDropped connections after 6 months of use

Pros: When this works, it works well. Fast connection speeds, no lag, and it's up and running in Windows without drivers.

Cons: Doesn't work correctly after 6 months of use.

Other Thoughts: Like a few others have mentioned on here, I started using this card and all was well for around 5 months, until it started to drop connections. Initially, a restart of Windows would fix the issue. After a few weeks of that, I'd have to shut down and restart Windows WLAN service, than finally, nothing seemed to work.

I thought it was a Windows issue, so I reinstalled my entire OS. Upon boot with the new OS installed - same issue. Works for 5-30 minutes than drops the connection resulting in "no connections available" and stays that way until a reboot or dropping WLAN for 2-5 minutes.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, but no luck. About to toss the piece of junk and find another card that works.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Customer,

Thank you for your review and we are sorry to see that you are having some issues with this device.

We would love to assist you in the configuration of this Adapter.

I am curious if you could provide the Windows OS version that you are using.

This will allow us to further assit you.

You can always contact me directly at howard.he@tp-link.com for any issues or concerns.

We also have a 2 year RMA manufacture warranty to replace any devices that me be defective.

Best Regards!

1 out of 5 eggsDANGER!!!

Pros: Native to Linux, worked properly under Linux unlike the chaos it causes under Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (see below)

Cons: WARNING! THIS CARD CAUSES DEVICE LATENCY ISSUES WITH MODERN VIDEO CARDS!

BEWARE OF BIZARRE OCCURRENCES like lock-ups, mouse jerkiness, blank screen flashing, and audio stuttering/freezing incidents for 30+ seconds! (Linux is unaffected, only Windows.)

Don't waste money on another video card or upgrade your PSU as would normally come to mind, it won't make a difference - unless you have an old/budget GPU or use integrated video, take out this card as soon as you can!

Other Thoughts: After about a year, the card just randomly stopped working for both OSes anyway. Taking it out solved all the bizarre problems mentioned above.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good...

Pros: 1. 3 external, up-gradable antennas
2. pci interface
3. 300 megabit ability plus the other features at a pretty low price
4. installed pretty easy...was up and running again in about 15 or so minutes, see other thoughts

Cons: none really as long as it lasts :P

Other Thoughts: the antennas are fairly weak so long range application or alot of obstacles/ interference is naturally going to cause an issue. compared to my old adapter (netgear wn111 v2 which has lasted a good time with good performance) i get better latency ( now im hitting 50ms consistantly vs my netgear would fluctuate between 45-75ms sometimes upwards of 90 on a bad day). im hitting pretty much my max internet speeds even though im pretty far away (the adapter is showing 85-90% signal speeds fluctuating between 19-39mbit) which i cant exactly gripe about considering im a good 30 feet away at least with 3 or 4 walls in the way. web pages themselves seem to load alot snappier. i took a gamble seeing as this was my first pci adapter (ive usually gone usb) and so far im pleased. i used the drivers and whatnot that came with it, later on i will probably update them and see if i get a change in performance, will update the review accordingly. Overall i would recommend!

*little side note: for some reason the windows wireless manager didnt seem to want to work until i used the TP-Link manager (running XP pro). Not too sure if that was a driver issue or just windows having a wild hair.

5 out of 5 eggsIt works, no glitches

Pros: It works, no glitches. Says that it will work w/ Ubuntu Linux which I have yet to test with but will try that aspect soon.

Cons: I paid $37.99 1 month ago for it but now see it is on sale for $27.99

Other Thoughts: Regrettably I may still end up wiring the PC I bought this for up with CAT5E. I'm not quite satisfied with the performance of wireless, but that is no fault of the card.
