5 out of 5 eggsgreat price/performance

Pros: lasted 5 years, covered most of my house, can't beat the value received for $15 sale price

Cons: never saw the advertised 150 Mbps speed, most I ever got was 65 Mbps on my smartphone, 130 Mpbs on my laptop

Other Thoughts: Had to reset the unit now and again in the last year of its 5-year life, more often as the end of the 5th year approached. Very stable and reliable for first 3-4 years, then faded. Fair range around my wood-frame house.

3 out of 5 eggsCheap

Pros: -Easy to set up
-Cheap
-Has some useful features

Cons: -Cheap
-Cannot reach anywhere near it's advertised speed

Other Thoughts: My internet connection is 50Mbps down, the devices connected to this sometimes get up to 10 Mbps. It's for my roommate so I really don't care, but if it was for me, I'd be buying a better router

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Edward,

Thank you for sharing your feedback about our product.

We're sorry to hear your router is not performing as you may have anticipated, but certainly an entry level, single band (2.4GHz) wireless router in our present time will experience a great deal of wireless interference, especially within close proximity environments.

Hopefully the wireless functionality has slightly improved, however, our support team would greatly appreciate the opportunity to assist you with optimizing your wireless performance.

As long as your ISP is among the Certified ISP list in the product description, the device should only require simple activation steps that can be performed over the phone with your Internet Service Provider.

We hope you will try more of our great products in the future.

Best Regards!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat DD-Wrt Wireless Client

Pros: This was the cheapest DD-Wrt compatible wireless device I could find. Installing and setting up dd-wrt was easy after finding the correct download for the hardware version I received. (I got hardware version 5.0 which was newly released at the time).

This was initially set up as a wireless client to connect wirelessly to the main router and provide an ethernet connection to a remote device without its own WiFi.

After setup of dd-wrt in client mode, it just worked. No connection issues. Auto connects quickly on power on (25 seconds from power on to working internet)

It is not a bottleneck with a 40mb/s internet connection.
It doesn't get hot. Its small and light.

Cons: None. It does everything I bought it to do.

Other Thoughts: Owned it for 6 months.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid low-end router

Pros: Bought this router a little more than a year ago for around $20. I saw it as bit of a risk to buy such a cheap router. I haven't had any problems with this router that I can remember. The wifi has decent range, the user interface offers quite a bit of options, and even allows bandwidth throttling which is quite useful if you are sharing a connection with several people.

Cons: I almost took off a star for wishing that it had gigabit LAN capabilities, but I figure I just didn't pay enough for the router to have that expectation of it.

1 out of 5 eggsDidn't connect

Pros: Bright packaging with no extruding wires or sharp edges.

Cons: This router didn't connect to the internet. At one point I had the problem pinned down to DNS (or was it IP6?), but I lost interest in troubleshooting after the manufacturer's web page timed out. It's always downhill from there.

Other Thoughts: I will avoid this brand in future.

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointed after 3 months

Pros: Small, easy to connect and setup

Cons: After 3 months of use, I noticed my wifi connection spontaneously disconnect and reconnect. This would happen with no apparent reason even with low traffic. Then it happened more frequently. Then my wifi connection was slowed to a crawl.

Other Thoughts: I initially thought it was Comcast until I verified the connection with a direct Ethernet cable from my computer to the cable modem. I found a firmware upgrade hoping that it might fix it. I installed it and it didn't fix anything. Fortunately, I had an older wireless router and installed that and everything was good again. I realized it was the TP Link wireless router. It was a disappointment that the shelf life was so short. I am not even sure it is even worth a tradeout or exchange.

2 out of 5 eggsVery disappointed in this unit

Pros: Small, easy to install,

Cons: After only 3 months, Wi-Fi started disconnecting and reconnecting spontaneously too frequently multiple times a work session. Did full power off/on resets and did a firmware upgrade to the latest version. Didn't help. Finally degraded to the point where the Wifi speed was unbearable. Once I swapped out with my backup wireless router life was good again.

Other Thoughts: I don't quite understand how a device can degrade so badly as there are no moving parts. Ultimately, I need to have more backup units going forward.

5 out of 5 eggsWrong description - No WPS button

Pros: No WPS button - if you don't use WPS, not having the button is a plus so you don't push it by accident.
Good config screens. Easy to disable WPS, unlike some other brands.
Good range but don't expect range perfection from any router.

Cons: Cheap power supply. Mine burned out. Had to buy a replacement power brick for $7. Annoying.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Small, easy setup, works well

Cons: It wasn't free

Other Thoughts: I ordered this to replace a failing, ancient, WRT54G. I was a little worried about buying such an inexpensive router, but it seems like pretty much every router on Newegg (even the expensive ones) have their share of bad reviews, so I took a chance. I couldn't be happier, setup took about 5 minutes and I haven't needed to touch it since. It may not have high-end features like packet prioritization, or come with one of the popular open router OSes, but it works just fine for coupling my phones and tablets to the cable modem.
