1 out of 5 eggsSo utterly useless as a bridge

Pros: Cheapest

Cons: Didn't work as a bridge

Other Thoughts: I bought this to hook up a wired blu-ray player to my wireless network. I fought with it for 3 hours. All of the documentation says that I need to use client mode for this. It simply won't connect with my Linksys router. So utterly frustrated right now.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We're sorry to see that you are having issues with this product.
I think you should configure the TL-WA500G as client mode instead of bridge mode.
Then it will act as a wireless adapter of your blu-ray player.

1 out of 5 eggsDID NOT WORK as a WIRELESS BRIDGE

Pros: cheap

Cons: Did not work as a wireless bridge

Other Thoughts: Did not work, I just needed the bridge setting...... 3 hours of attempting multiple configuration settings with no success

I tried EVERYTHING and it still gives me "error 651" -problem with router reported

Manufacturer Response:

Dear valued customer,
Maybe there's something mis-configured when you setup the access point.
We have a FAQ for your reference:

1 out of 5 eggsWPA in AP mode only

Pros: Works. Does most of what the description claims.

Cons: Any mode other than AP requires you to use WEP. This is important enough that this limitation should be clearly stated in the description.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Good for what it does.

Pros: Cheap for cost

Extras included

Cons: POE Injector was not powerful enough to properly run the device on a long Ethernet cable. Had to improvise with extension cords.

Other Thoughts: Good product for what it is, too bad I couldn't use the POE injector! Oh well, would buy again for this price!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat unit, Great Price

Pros: Excellent Signal Strength, solid connectivity so far (only had about a week or so) but 0 problems. Wall mountable. Easy setup also. What's not to like about this thing. And the best part, THE PRICE. It comes with a POE injector for FREE which is unbeatable. The same type of injector would easily cost you $20 by itself. This unit is a no brainer.

Cons: None so far

4 out of 5 eggsGood performance

Pros: Steady uninterrupted connections
Easy access to built-in settings (I never tried the included software)
Wall-notable (but Hardware not included)
POE adapter included but no instructions fora newbie on where it might be useful.
Small & light, but don't drop it on anything other than a pillow

Cons: Security seems quirky. Like another reviewer here, my problem was signal in an upstairs room that's wired. My regular signal was fine for all my wireless devices until I got my Asus Transformer Prime, which has known problems with wireless connectivity because of its metal case shielding its antennae. The new TP-Link access point works fine connected to my basement-located wireless router as long as I don't have encryption enabled. When I do, my tablet sees the access point, but when I enter the WPA passkey, it's saved but will never connect. So, I'm forced to leave security off & have to rely on MAC filtering. If anyone has a solution out suggestion, I'm ears.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: Solid connection, good range, works fast (using client mode).

Cons: The setup was a little confusing and there's a bit of a language barrier with their tech support.

Other Thoughts: Once you get it set up, it's well worth the money.

4 out of 5 eggsMoney Well Spent

Pros: Great price, excellent wireless reception, compact, light, unlike some low-cost units, runs cool, supports an impressive array of modes, supports WEP and WPA.

Cons: Documentation contains broken English, and does not contain complete instructions for most modes.

Other Thoughts: I wanted a way to connect a wired Ethernet device in a part of my home that had no wired port. One of the many modes the Tp-Link supports is client--exactly what I needd. The docs included excellent instructions on configuring bridge mode; however, they contained about one sentence on client mode setup. Using my powers of divination, I set it up as I thought it should be...but it wouldn't work. After trying a number of things, I emailed tech support. Though I could tell English was not the techs' first language, their instructions were clear and helpful. As it turned out, my problem was solved by doing a hard reset of my main wireless router and re-entering all settings, (without a single change!). Once that was done, the TP-Link immediately connected to my wireless network. And YES -- it DOES do WEP. I can't speak to the DHCP comments I've read, as my target device used a static IP, but everything else works famously...in fact for $30, I may pick up another one. I'm a happy camper.

1 out of 5 eggsProblems....

Pros: Haven't used it to see if there are any, cheap

Cons: Spent 2 hours trying to configure this. I cant access the configuration page, and the times when it shows up and i login, it works but after a few seconds its unavailable again. This is with wired and wireless.

Other Thoughts: Im an network IT and I thought this would be an easy setup... Ive had a lot of trouble with newegg's products, seems a lot of things end up being RMA. I'll be taking a break from newegg for a while.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Cheap, supposedly versatile

Cons: Does not support WPA/WPA2 in range extender mode! Confirmed this on TP-Link website and in user manual.
I bought it for it's flexibility. Will return as description clearly says WPA/WPA2 capable.

Other Thoughts: Would you set up someone with only WEP encription?
