5 out of 5 eggsGood, cheap USB WiFi adapter.

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter, 150Mbps, w/4 dBi High Gain Detachable Antenna, IEEE 802.11b/g/n, WEP, WPA/WPA2

Pros: Cheap, love the external antenna. Antenna connector is standard so there's so many possibilities to add a larger external antenna. Good signal. Haven't had any problems.

Cons: None, really.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat NIC

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter, 150Mbps, w/4 dBi High Gain Detachable Antenna, IEEE 802.11b/g/n, WEP, WPA/WPA2

Pros: Worked out of the box for Windows and Debian/Ubuntu

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I mean, you plug it in and it works. I have had no issues with this adapter what-so-ever on Windows 8.1, Windows 7, Ubuntu, and Debian. I got it on sale for $9.99. I expected a headache and a half for such a cheap item, but this was totally work the money and then some.

5 out of 5 eggsNifty Little NIC

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter, 150Mbps, w/4 dBi High Gain Detachable Antenna, IEEE 802.11b/g/n, WEP, WPA/WPA2

Pros: Worked great right out of the box on my XP machine. Good range does not drop off/out.

Cons: Had a driver problem when installing the device on a Win 7 all in one machine not a problem cause by the adapter but one from cause by odd hardware of the machine. With a bit of help from customer support it's all good now. Thanks Jeniffer

Other Thoughts: I have build many machines over the last 20 years for my self friends and family I found no better costumer support than these people.

4 out of 5 eggsEffective, for the price

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter, 150Mbps, w/4 dBi High Gain Detachable Antenna, IEEE 802.11b/g/n, WEP, WPA/WPA2

Pros: - Works well for what it is meant to do. Very effective for range issues, since a laptops internal WiFi adapter usually doesn't have a great range of use, this helps. It boosts the signal very effectively and USUALLY offers a very stable connection, free of interference.

Cons: It does not however make much of a difference when obstructions are your problem. For instance, I am connecting to WiFi (802.11n) that is roughly 30m away. In and of itself this is usually not to bad, the problem is I have two points where there are sheet metal walls, this causes enormous connection issues. This has made it better but not completely solved the problem (obviously nothing will...)
- It also does not enjoy prolonged extensive usage, i.e. when I have something streaming/downloading plus a game running in the background (easily eating up the ~20mbps bandwidth I usually have) for hours and hours on end, it begins to get finiky (sp?) and occasionally will disconnect or almost (run up to 30+s on ping which doesn't usually effect streaming apps but does in a gaming environment.). Most often this can be remedied by unplugging and letting it reset, though sometimes this doesn't seem to work.

Other Thoughts: Overall a very very solid product for the price. I actually have 3 of these at the moment (one on my laptop and one on a desktop which was the original reason for purchase...). You need to download the updated drivers when you get it or it probably will not work well (mine didn't work at all on my laptop without the drivers, wasn't even recognized but the desktop was plug and play)
If you begin to experience lag/disconnects/errors while connecting, unplug and wait a few, try again. Usually works for me.
Again, overall this product is absolutely worth the very small price (I see it's $30 now but I got it on sale for $15)
- You won't actually see 150Mbps (this is just what it's rated at and it's just like wifi routers, an advertising ploy...) but it is very decent speeds at very good range (again mine being ~30m from access point and I see 72mbps consistently on connection, with actual rates running 15-25mbps)

5 out of 5 eggsperfect solution

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter, 150Mbps, w/4 dBi High Gain Detachable Antenna, IEEE 802.11b/g/n, WEP, WPA/WPA2

Pros: My built in wireless adapter that came with my laptop was actually experiencing wear and tear, which is bizarre. You'd figure it would just suddenly stop working, rather than fade away like a dying man. I was forced to either hard link to a router or be in very close range. I live in the loft of a house. The router is below me, although only by about 50 feet, yet i was having trouble getting a stable connection and decent speeds. This behavior was consistent across multiple routers and setups, like trying to connect to starbucks' hotspot.

So I bought this thing. Amazing price for what you get. Easy installation. Took almost no time. Immediately connected to my wifi and had speeds up to 50 mbps, which is pretty good, and just short of the actual top connection speed you would get if you plugged directly into the modem.

Cons: I dunno. It's kinda big I guess. Sticks out 3 inches, and while the free usb stand is cool, I use my laptop in a very mobile on-the-go way, so I'm probably never going to use that.

Also, it'd be cool if it had an FAQ. I have a few questions that I'll have to do my own research on.
