5 out of 5 eggsOwned for Over Four Years and Worked w/o a Hitch for Three

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter, 150Mbps, w/4 dBi High Gain Detachable Antenna, IEEE 802.11b/g/n, WEP, WPA/WPA2

Pros: Price, Performance, Plug-n-Play with Linux

Cons: Started dropping connection after three and a half years of use

Other Thoughts: I've had this thing for over four years now. It's in an HTPC in my upstairs bedroom. My router is downstairs and I get a strong connection. I've used it with both Mint Linux 13 and now Mint 16 and it's plug-n-play. A couple of months ago it started losing connection once every two or three days. Unplugging and re-plugging it solves the problem. Didn't dock an egg for it as I don't expect my electronics to last forever.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat adapter but watch out Win7 users

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter, 150Mbps, w/4 dBi High Gain Detachable Antenna, IEEE 802.11b/g/n, WEP, WPA/WPA2

Pros: Haven't had it very long but so far it's working fine. Good signal strength and connectivity.

Cons: The software that comes with it did NOT work in Win7 64bit. And I never found a way to get it to work after 2 days of researching it.

Other Thoughts: The only way I was able to get this adapter to with with my Win7 64 bit systems (I've got three) was to use Cisco's VPN client. THAT worked just fine.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks well - decent range - good price

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter, 150Mbps, w/4 dBi High Gain Detachable Antenna, IEEE 802.11b/g/n, WEP, WPA/WPA2

Pros: Good signal range. Good wireless speed. Bargain priced. I originally had a problem with this adapter where it would just stop working and then I would have to unplug it and plug it back in. Turns out the driver that windows 7 installs was the culprit. On the plus side, TP Link really stands by their products and offered to replace.

Cons: Not up to TP-Link reliability. Product works for about an hour and then powers down and does not show up in devices (Update - removed all drivers and cleaned old registry entries and installed latest driver. Adapter has been working for about a year.). The antenna is on the wrong side. If you plug it into the rear USB port of a desktop computer, the antenna is pointing down. Works for front USB ports and laptop ports but signal strength is impacted when trying to use this in the rear USB port on motherboard..

Other Thoughts: Updated - problem was fixed and device has been performing flawlessly for about a year.

I have purchased and used multiple TP-Link products. This is the first item I have really had problems with. It works well for an hour or so and then I get the windows sound when a USB device is ejected. My connection disappears, and, in fact, the entire WiFi device disappears from Device Manager.

(Updated) Tried the latest drivers and turned off power saving option. I had to completely remove the old drivers and then remove the all registry entries. This was not the fault of TP-Link -- Windows automatically installed the default driver and even updating the driver did not help because the driver files and settings installed by windows were causing problems.

5 out of 5 eggsFast!

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter, 150Mbps, w/4 dBi High Gain Detachable Antenna, IEEE 802.11b/g/n, WEP, WPA/WPA2

Pros: My other 2 laptops were getting 2.0 mbps (megabytes) max, this thing is going at 6.0 max which to me is fast. It is also very reliable which is important because I do a lot of gaming.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Would buy again.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy to use and works very well in our home

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter, 150Mbps, w/4 dBi High Gain Detachable Antenna, IEEE 802.11b/g/n, WEP, WPA/WPA2

Pros: It's a small physical size and we get plenty of signal strength even though the PC is physically at the farthest end of the house from the Wi-Fi Router.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: When used with the TP-LINK UC100 USB Cradle it sits nicely on top of the computer.

3 out of 5 eggsReliable connection, mediocre speeds

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter, 150Mbps, w/4 dBi High Gain Detachable Antenna, IEEE 802.11b/g/n, WEP, WPA/WPA2

Pros: I've had this for a few years now, and it works excellent most of the time. Great for casual gaming, web surfing, streaming youtube or netflix.

Cons: Sometimes, the signal loss can cause a lot of dropped packets, resulting in games lagging terribly, or in some cases crashing. Ensure the antenna has some elevation, is completely vertical, and has a mostly clear path to the signal in order to improve quality. As far as practical connection speed goes, it may be rated for 150Mbps, but I average 22Mps, with Steam downloading games at 2.2MB/s maximum. That doesn't sound bad, but when I use a hardwired computer in the office with the router, that gets 181Mb/s down, and 24Mb/s up from speedtest.net. It's a HUGE difference. Do yourself a favor, buy something that has multiple antennas, longer high gain antennas, and is connected with a USB cable to a USB 3.0 port to give it some elevation in the room for a solid fast connection. Don't waste your time and money with this.

5 out of 5 eggsworks as expected

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter, 150Mbps, w/4 dBi High Gain Detachable Antenna, IEEE 802.11b/g/n, WEP, WPA/WPA2

Pros: plug and play, reliable, good signal strength between floors and through walls

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: I bought this to make my QNAP 412 NAS box go wireless. It works. Only connects at 54Mbps, but as far as I can tell that's an issue with QNAP, not the dongle.
