3 out of 5 eggsReliable connection, mediocre speeds

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter, 150Mbps, w/4 dBi High Gain Detachable Antenna, IEEE 802.11b/g/n, WEP, WPA/WPA2

Pros: I've had this for a few years now, and it works excellent most of the time. Great for casual gaming, web surfing, streaming youtube or netflix.

Cons: Sometimes, the signal loss can cause a lot of dropped packets, resulting in games lagging terribly, or in some cases crashing. Ensure the antenna has some elevation, is completely vertical, and has a mostly clear path to the signal in order to improve quality. As far as practical connection speed goes, it may be rated for 150Mbps, but I average 22Mps, with Steam downloading games at 2.2MB/s maximum. That doesn't sound bad, but when I use a hardwired computer in the office with the router, that gets 181Mb/s down, and 24Mb/s up from speedtest.net. It's a HUGE difference. Do yourself a favor, buy something that has multiple antennas, longer high gain antennas, and is connected with a USB cable to a USB 3.0 port to give it some elevation in the room for a solid fast connection. Don't waste your time and money with this.

5 out of 5 eggsworks as expected

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter, 150Mbps, w/4 dBi High Gain Detachable Antenna, IEEE 802.11b/g/n, WEP, WPA/WPA2

Pros: plug and play, reliable, good signal strength between floors and through walls

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: I bought this to make my QNAP 412 NAS box go wireless. It works. Only connects at 54Mbps, but as far as I can tell that's an issue with QNAP, not the dongle.

1 out of 5 eggsPiece of trash.

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter, 150Mbps, w/4 dBi High Gain Detachable Antenna, IEEE 802.11b/g/n, WEP, WPA/WPA2

Pros: Works fine for a couple hours.

Cons: Only works fine for a couple hours. Loses connection after a few hours of idling leaving big downloads out of the question. When I unplug it windows 7 goes straight to blue screen. The $4 device I ordered from China works much better. I'm not getting any faster speeds with the "high gain" antenna either.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Adapter

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter, 150Mbps, w/4 dBi High Gain Detachable Antenna, IEEE 802.11b/g/n, WEP, WPA/WPA2

Pros: -Provides wireless connectivity

Cons: - Does not work with Windows 10 without some massaging of the power options

Other Thoughts: To get this wireless adapter to work with Windows 10, you must access the device manager, right click on the device under network adapters and select properties, click on the power management tab, uncheck all boxes. The adapter will now work with Windows 10. It is a shame the manufacturer will not fix the driver for Windows 10. It seems like it would be so simple to just adjust the power management settings in the driver. :-\

4 out of 5 eggssolid buy

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter, 150Mbps, w/4 dBi High Gain Detachable Antenna, IEEE 802.11b/g/n, WEP, WPA/WPA2

Pros: Speeds are decent but the range is the best reason to get this. Comes with CD that has drivers and software that allows you to monitor signal strength and toggle the internet connection on and off. Drivers and software are also available from the website.

Cons: Not the fastest adapter. Loses out to another one that i have that doesn't have an external antenna. Speeds aren't horrible by any means but if every little bit counts consider a faster model.

Other Thoughts: I got this to replace another TP-link adapter i had that is rated at 300mbps do to its limited range. Now my internet isn't anywhere near 150mbps so i figured no problem and to be honest for some time i didn't even realize that this adapter was slower. Reason being the system was setup in the basement with signal coming from 1st floor. The old adapter struggled to get a decent signal so performance was weak. Using this model i got solid signal and performance. It wasn't till i move the system to the 1st floor and tested that i realized that despite my internet speed not being anywhere near this adapters max the other (internal antenna) adapter was still faster.

So I recommend this if your system is at a fair distance from the signal source. Also i feel that you should buy the fastest you can afford meaning that there are much faster then this. However if your on a budget I consider it an absolute bargain for the price/performance. The faster adapter that i have cost about $30 more so...yeah it better be faster....lol

Would buy again.

4 out of 5 eggsIt Worked Well, for a Long Time

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter, 150Mbps, w/4 dBi High Gain Detachable Antenna, IEEE 802.11b/g/n, WEP, WPA/WPA2

Pros: So, I have had this item for a few years now and just recently replaced it. It's relatively impossible to do an in depth review of something as basic as a wireless network adapter, but here we go.

I used this a floor above where my WIFI signal originated, and I experienced very infrequent disconnects. So, if you're on a budget and you want something that pretty much "just works" go ahead and buy this. It will "just work" for a long time. I was able to both game and watch movies on this adapter, so there is no problem there. This adapter would be fine for most people.

Cons: The biggest downside to this product has to be the fact that it isn't dual band, though it was only a negative for me because I was so far away from my wireless router. If you have a dual band router and you want a consistent signal and you are not on a budget, pay the ~$50 for a highly rated dual band wireless adapter.
As I got closer to wanting a replace for this adapter, I was getting more frequent disconnects. Occasionally the adapter would randomly disconnect itself from my computer. Definitely annoying if you want a consistent signal for play multiplayer games.

As for me, I did end up replacing it after about 2 years with a dual band wireless adapter.

Other Thoughts: So yes. I recommend this adapter if you meet these conditions:
1) You are on a budget.
2) You don't need an extreme distance connection.
3) You don't have a dual band router.

2 out of 5 eggsDon't Expect 150 Mb/src

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter, 150Mbps, w/4 dBi High Gain Detachable Antenna, IEEE 802.11b/g/n, WEP, WPA/WPA2

Pros: -Good price
-Easy to set up

Cons: -Very Slow speed and bad range
my internet speed at home is over 60 Mb/sec, this product didn't get above 20.
I returned it and go this one http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA8H13110541&cm_re=netis_ac1200-_-33-389-035-_-Product

Other Thoughts: Would not recommend

5 out of 5 eggsManages a decent speed

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter, 150Mbps, w/4 dBi High Gain Detachable Antenna, IEEE 802.11b/g/n, WEP, WPA/WPA2

Pros: -Gets to about 4mbps when downloading games from steam at max, considering my wifi is a level below me and on the opposite side of the house, I'm impressed

Cons: -Still would like faster speeds, but you get what you pay for so no eggs docked

1 out of 5 eggsWorks but SLOWER/ less reliable than my existing internal Wifi.

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter, 150Mbps, w/4 dBi High Gain Detachable Antenna, IEEE 802.11b/g/n, WEP, WPA/WPA2

Pros: Easy set up and does work but very slow.
'May' be usable with some kind of home built antenna to actually boost signal and/ or performance.

Cons: Shows 'better' connection 3 bars vs the 2 that I get with my very old vista b/g internal Wifi -connecting to an N router....but actual experienced speed is far slower and I keep getting bumped off completely.

Other Thoughts: Don't recommend it save your money for something better.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Customer,

Thank you for checking out our Adapter.

We are sorry to see that you are having some issues with the speed of this device.

It is hard to determine where the exact cause may be, as things like Anti-virus Software may conflict with the configuration, and other built in Adapters may also conflict, distance from the Router, and other variables like that.

One suggestion that we have is to re-install the driver from our site to help improve any stability.

You may find this driver on our site at: http://www.tp-link.us/download/TL-WN722N.html#Driver

If you are still having issues with this device then feel free to contact our Technical support directly for any trouble-shooting or assistance.

Best Regards!
