5 out of 5 eggsGreat inexpensive AP

Pros: - Inexpensive
- Modes: AP, Multiple SSID with VLANS, Client, Repeater and Bridge
- 5dbi antenna
- Detachable antenna with RP-SMA connector
- PoE adapter included
- SNMP
- Simple web Interface and configuration
- Nice looking unit
- VLAN capable
- Very good wireless speed, worked well with my Android tablet, Iphone phone and VAIO Notebook

Cons: not compatible with POE or POE+

Other Thoughts: This AP does not cost hundreds of dollars, it is designed for the home or small office. At the price range I think it has more than enough and it is simple to setup for anyone that can read the configuration page.

2 out of 5 eggsTP-LINK TL-WA701ND

Pros: TP-LINK TL-WA701ND Version 2.1 Issues

Cons: I but 5 of this last year. They're has been used as an Access Point 3 of them 2 as a Repeater. I had tried firmware update and different setting like channel # 1, 6 and 11. I'm not using Passive PoE at this moment seen I'm using it 120 feet away from the router. I have to reboot Access Point to often, otherwise clients won't have internet. At first I though that was my settings, but after reading reviews I just have one thing to say; they're not good for business environment.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Customer,

We appreicate your review.

It seems like setting the device 120 feet away from the Router may be too far to get a good connection.

I would say you would be best to place it between 20 to 60 feet from the Router.

If you are using this as an Access Point and have an Etherent cable running from the Router to the WA701ND, then it shouldn't exceed around 260 feet.

Feel free to contact me directly if you have any issues or concerns at howard.he@tp-link.com.

5 out of 5 eggsOh Yeah!

Pros: Was having trouble with the comcast cable router connecting more than 4 wireless devices. Comcast said they do have problems around the 5 device connections. I asked some questions here and got the right answers. I ordered this and totally expanded my device connections. I'm at 8 wireless devices and still no problems.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsGreat AP

Pros: I decided to pick this up when I wanted to use my Ooma wireless. Instead of using their product which would be 55 I figured this would be much more versatile and cheaper. I first connected this to my laptop and set up the devise to work on my wifi network and now I can place my phone anywhere in my apartment. I also thought it was great there there was an on/off switch on this as well.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsMore connections

Pros: Bought this to increase the amount of wireless points in the house. The Comcast router starts to die at around 5. I have at least 9 wireless devices in the house. This promised to help and it did. From the time I opened the box, it took a total of 10 minutes to be fully operational. Changed the DHCP to disable, changed the name and PW, restarted it and it was done. I'm at 5 devices and counting. Thanks!

Cons: None at this time.

2 out of 5 eggsPOE Issues

Pros: Good Range

Cons: Only works with included POE Injector. Will not power up with EnGenius EGS5110P 8-Port Gigabit PoE+ (802.3at/af) Smart Switch or NETGEAR 24 Port PoE Gigabit Smart Switch (GS724TP).

Other Thoughts: Bought 4 of these, and have to make a decision now if I'm returning them or dealing with the 4 extra AC Adapters and POE Injectors stealing power outlets and wall space in my network closet...

5 out of 5 eggsHuge difference!

Pros: I bought this to be used as a repeater at first due to the poor signal from my fios router. However, as i realized that I could use this as the access point itself, I did just that.

Following the instructions from the manual, which were very easy to follow and informative, I set up in minutes. Immediately I noticed a huge jump in performance and am glad I've made the purchase.

I would certainly recommend buying this if you're still using the provided fios router.

3 out of 5 eggsok repeater

Pros: easy to setup and super cheap when on sale. paid 35.99.

Cons: i find that i have to do a reset every 5 or 6 hours when using as a repeater. Had since 5/5/2013

Other Thoughts: using at cottage as a repeater . super easy to setup, but again having to power off the repeater is getting tiresome everytime you find no connection found from the area of repeater.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear customer,
We apologize for any inconvenience caused.
I think the issue is due to the far distance between the TL-WA701ND and your main router.
The repeater has an ideal location. That's the mid way between your main router and wireless clients.

If the repeater is too far away from the main router, it will drop the wireless connection.
May I suggest you move the TL-WA701ND closer to the main router and try again?

If you need further info, please feel free to let me know.
