2 out of 5 eggsPerformance problems

Pros: Scans for wireless broadcasts efficiently. Maybe unable to keep tied to specific connection.

Cons: Keeps dropping connection frequently. Seems to affect mouse making it lose focus window every few seconds. Have to click back into the window to regain focus.
Using Windows 7. Have to return it to Newegg.

Other Thoughts: I purchased from Newegg an Encore wireless adapter. That one is working well without drops even though it gets only 54Mbps amc.

5 out of 5 eggsAs Advertised

Pros: Saw a significant signal strength improvement on the Wi-Fi I connect to (from about -80dBm to -55dBm) compared to the built-in wireless on my laptop. Speeds went up and dropped packets went down significantly.

Long USB cable included is awesome.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Windows 8 does require a driver download from TP Link's website, but it took literally 2 minutes to find, download and install. Device works perfectly.

1 out of 5 eggsHigh Ping

Pros: Cheap and small.

Cons: Gave me really high ping in Bf3 and league of legends.

Other Thoughts: I really do not know why I got very high ping using this. I have 44-50 DL speed when I use speedtest.net

The first week I had it everything was perfect, no ping lagg or anything, downloading at 4.2mb a sec. Then the week after everything collapsed.

My ping originally was 30-40 now it'll stay at 100-500. I do not know what triggered it but it will not go down. I am 1 wall away from my wireless router. No one is home I have high ping.

My brother gets no lagg when he is in his room playing xbox, he is about 3-5 walls away from it. Farther than me, yet he can play perfectly fine.

I would like to return it since I ordered a 50 ft Ethernet cable and will no longer have use for this.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Frank,
We apologize for the inconvenience caused.
If you didn't return the adapter yet, would you like to run a little troubleshooting with us?
1. run the speedtest if the ping and up/dn throughput is slow; If it's good, maybe the issue is not on the adapter;
2. Adjust the antenna or change to another position to see if it works;
3. If the adapter is hardware defective, TP-LINK USA provides 2-year warranty even Newegg's warranty is expired.

If you need further info, please don't hesitate to let me know.

3 out of 5 eggsGood adapter, bad cable

Pros: Both my win 7 64 bit and Win 8 did not recognize the adapter with the enclosed cable. I was about to return it when I gave it another try with a different usb cable, and both computer was able to recognize the adapter immediately.

Once it works, the speed is very fast!

Cons: Bad USB cable almost causes a return.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear David,
Thank you for your effort on troubleshooting and we're happy to hear the adapter provides you fast connection.
Maybe it's just a special case. If you need to a new USB cable, please feel free to contact me:

5 out of 5 eggsAbsolutely amazing

Pros: Stable connection with no signal lost, fast connection, nice look, very compact and easy to move around

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: With my old wireless adapter, if I was on the computer for an hour or two total a day, I would have been offline for about half of that. With this adapter, I stay on as long as I want and never go offline. This adapter is fast, and I like how you have the option to move it around as to just plugging in something into a USB port and never looking at it again. With this adapter, you can plug it into your computer and place it anywhere that the cord will reach to.

4 out of 5 eggsGood, but program is awful

Pros: As a wireless adapter it works great. Get better speeds with it than I did hooking my desktop up to my router with a cord.

Cons: The program it comes with is awful. Its useful to use because you can use the power saver setting to have it use less power when it's not in use, but it caused every full screen application (games, etc.) to constantly tab out into windowed mode. Made playing games impossible. Emailed tech support, they told me to uninstall.

5 out of 5 eggsStop reading ... Start ordering

Pros: Sensitive, stable, reliable.

Cons: Taped to my dark wood bookcase, it looks like a dried rabbit head a witch doctor would use. It scares me.

Other Thoughts: Had to download driver for Windows 8 Pro 64-bit and follow instructions in the PDF.

The WiFi card in my Dell XPS 8300 worked well when our router was across the hall. But then the router had to be moved three rooms further away, and my connection was now unreliable.

Using Meraki's WiFi Stumbler, my Dell's card had a signal strength of 68-72%. The WN822N consistently reads 100%.
Prior to the WN822N, my Dell desktop showed four other WiFi networks. The WN822N shows eight other networks. Sweet.

5 out of 5 eggsThis little guy is a BEAST

Pros: - FAST!!!
- No drops during OL gaming
- Cheap
- It works!

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: Wow this little thing is great so far, no issues. Installed the latest driver from their website, plugged it in, and I'm online! Two walls, ~25 ft away and I'm getting 5 bars no problem.

Highly recommended.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes what it supposed to with minimal setup.

Pros: Easy to setup. Massive improvement over hacked router I was using before this. Good reception although I don't have a lot of range between equipment. Decent form factor. Has survived some rough handling by my barbaric 2 year old son.

Cons: None of note as of yet. But I'll update should some arise.

Other Thoughts: Great performance so far. Very happy with the price I got on this.

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointing

Pros: ?

Cons: failure to consistently link, excessive drops, software that seemed glitchy

Other Thoughts: Purchased the TP-LINK N150 and it performed flawlessly. Plugged in, was immediately picked up, and works great. Needed another wireless link so I opted for the N300. Failed to be recognized, had to manually add it. Each boot up I had to "re-link" the N300, plus go through and tell the system how to configure it. due to it's size I can't even use it as a wheel chock. If not for how painlessly and effectively the N150 worked, I would be even more vocal on the uselessness of the N300. As is i'll order another N150 to use in it's place.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello lalakai,

We're sorry to see that you are getting constant connection drops with this device. We do recommend that you use the Windows wireless configuration to establish the connection to your Router. We have seen that the TP-Link client utility can cause conflict with your Wireless configuration and can cause Network drops like you've been experiencing. Once you’ve deleted the TP-Link utility and used Windows to automatically configure the network, then you can click on the automatically connect tab after putting in your passkey. You should see that the adapter connects to the Router even after reboot. We’re glad to see that the N150 has worked for you and we believe that the N300 should work just as good or better. You may find that the latest drivers for this device may help with stability in its connection. You may find the driver under the software tab located at: http://www.tp-link.us/products/details/?model=TL-WN822N#down
