5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Booster

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN822N Wireless N300 High Gain USB Adapter, 300Mbps, Dual 3dBi External Antennas, w/WPS Button, IEEE 802.1b/g/n, WEP/WPA/WPA2

Pros: 3db per anntena gives me now uninterupted wifi connections at retaurants like McDonalds, TIM Hortonts etc. I can work from my car with free wifi that is now reliable. Compact ant very portable.

Cons: Its white. I would have prefered a dark color. But that is a personnal preference.

Other Thoughts: Highly recommended.

1 out of 5 eggsFast when it works, but speed kills it

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN822N Wireless N300 High Gain USB Adapter, 300Mbps, Dual 3dBi External Antennas, w/WPS Button, IEEE 802.1b/g/n, WEP/WPA/WPA2

Pros: fast
cheap
good gain

Cons: No 5 GHz support
Poor reliability. This adapter can't sustain speeds over ~ 5 MB/s over 802.11/n without the connection failing and the adapter needing to be reset. This consistently happens to the point of annoyance.

Other Thoughts: Search this make/model and you'll see this is a consistent problem. I've tried different drivers, all on Win7 64, and I can't fix it. I've disabled all forms of USB-related power management so if it's a juice problem, it's that the adapter is pulling more than the USB spec can provide.

Incidentally, this is my second TP-LINK adapter. My first was the TL-WN722N. That adapter now consistently loses gateway access after 2+ years of access. I'm thinking that TP-LINK products are glass cannons.

1 out of 5 eggsGood for anger management

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN822N Wireless N300 High Gain USB Adapter, 300Mbps, Dual 3dBi External Antennas, w/WPS Button, IEEE 802.1b/g/n, WEP/WPA/WPA2

Pros: Basically nothing. It disconnects every four minutes and if I so much as look at it too hard it disconnects. DO NOT BUY if you would like to use the Internet and play games. But, here's the pro; it is somewhat durable, so the feeling you get when you slam it against a wall is purely euphoric. Watching it twist and twirl through the air on the verge of snapping looks just like my sanity.

Cons: None, really, besides the fact it doesn't work.

Other Thoughts: I would 10/10 buy again just to shatter against a wall I cannot emphasize how good it feels.

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN822N Wireless N300 High Gain USB Adapter, 300Mbps, Dual 3dBi External Antennas, w/WPS Button, IEEE 802.1b/g/n, WEP/WPA/WPA2

Pros: None

Cons: You have to play with USB cable on adapter side to make it works

Other Thoughts: You can not get through over the phone to the customer service. It is always busy.

5 out of 5 eggsit works great so far

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN822N Wireless N300 High Gain USB Adapter, 300Mbps, Dual 3dBi External Antennas, w/WPS Button, IEEE 802.1b/g/n, WEP/WPA/WPA2

Pros: It's much faster than the n150 edimax I was using. The twin antennas do seem to have better signal strength. After 2+ weeks the device has been stable and I have not had to unplug it to reset the connection. The USB connector that came as a gift was not necessary

Cons: this is NOT a dual band network device. I was hoping to connect to my 5 ghz network but I guess I was deceived by the "dual" in the description

Other Thoughts: it's white, it seems to stay cool while it's being used.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent product - not like the amazing WN722 though.

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN822N Wireless N300 High Gain USB Adapter, 300Mbps, Dual 3dBi External Antennas, w/WPS Button, IEEE 802.1b/g/n, WEP/WPA/WPA2

Pros: Cheap, good signal quality.

Cons: I bought two of these a year ago and while one is still functioning, the other developed random connection problems. The malfunctioning device drops its connection randomly for periods of around 20 minutes (the functional one is now attached to the same USB port of the same computer, so it's clearly the device that failed).

Other Thoughts: For the price I paid (about half it's asking price), I don't regret this purchase, but this is definitely not the amazingly stable product TP-LINK gave us with the WN-722N, of which I still own 4.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great!

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN822N Wireless N300 High Gain USB Adapter, 300Mbps, Dual 3dBi External Antennas, w/WPS Button, IEEE 802.1b/g/n, WEP/WPA/WPA2

Pros: Works really great, upload speed is good, no problems with connection, signal is very good for the distance from my router

Cons: Lightweight and gets knocked over easily, but not a big issue

1 out of 5 eggsFlaky at best

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN822N Wireless N300 High Gain USB Adapter, 300Mbps, Dual 3dBi External Antennas, w/WPS Button, IEEE 802.1b/g/n, WEP/WPA/WPA2

Pros: Inexpensive.
Fast if good line-of-sight to base station.
Decently long USB cable

Cons: Constantly drops. Drivers show it connected, but no traffic pases. unplug/replug fixes issue.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for my kids' computer in the dining room hoping that I wouldn't have to drop an ethernet jack down the wall. Now it's constantly "dad, there's no wifi!" There's another computer in the kitchen using another brand of USB wifi adapter that's been absolutely rock solid. I should have bought another one of those (even though it's only N150)

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Customer,

We are sorry to see that you've had some issues with this device.

If you are using a Windows machine, one issue we have seen is when the Windows wireless configuration and the TP-Link wireless configuration fight and cause disconect issues and problems with stabillity.

Our suggestion is to make sure only the WN822N driver is installed and remove the wireless client utility to prevent any possible conflict.

If you haven't done so already we would suggest trying to update the driver.

You can find the latest version on our website at: http://www.tp-link.us/products/details/?categoryid=&model=TL-WN822N#down

Please give us a call if you are still running into issues on our 24 hour support hotline or you can feel free to email me directly at howard.he@tp-link.com.
