5 out of 5 eggsA Quality Product

Pros: Excellent metal case and simple layout.

Product worked perfectly out-of-the-box in Windows 7 with minimal use of the built-in software. It has functioned flawlessly since.

A solid well-made product - recommended.

Cons: See other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: Overall rating is based on my experience only, I can see that a more complex set-up could involve additional software which does not seem to be particularly user-friendly.

4 out of 5 eggsGood, but not great.

Pros: Load Balancing
Traffic Monitoring
Bandwidth Control; allows you to group IPs and limit the amount of bandwidth that group can consume.

Cons: I wish I could group by mac addresses instead of IPs. I can assign specific PCs a static IP but android devices can be a pain.
Every once in a while, I'll hit a random link that just smokes this unit and leaves it unresponsive. At that point, you have to pull the power cord.

Other Thoughts: The random lock-ups may not be as random as you think. I can cause this router to lock up on command by going to specific websites. I don't know what it is in the code or URL of that website but it's repeatable.

1 out of 5 eggsLocks up

Pros: Very configurable. That is why I bought it.

Cons: This thing locks up all of the time, even when there is no load. It does this several times a week. My firmware is the latest, 1.0.0 Build 20141208 Rel.36359s. I am currently in contact with TP-Link. If they come up with a solution, I will repost. I had another TP-Link model before that did the same thing, but a lot less frequently. The only solution is to unplug the router and restart it. The web interface also becomes unreachable when it does this.

Other Thoughts: I am surprised that the reviews are so good. I've searched the internet and found on some forums that this is not uncommon. That is what led me to finally contact support to see if they can actually correct this; otherwise it was destined for a return. I really want to like this device due to how configurable it is, but if it can't do the simple job of staying up, I can't use it.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat basic wired router

Pros: Works as a basic router without any hiccups. Small footprint

Cons: GUI interface is rather complicated and confusing to navigate. Not very user friendly in my opinion for using any of the advanced features. The instructions on advanced setup are horrible or non existent.

Other Thoughts: I bought this because I needed a wired router for my home network and it was cheap. I do not use the advanced features. I used the stock setup that comes with the setup CD and everything works fine. Basic setup is easy. I cannot comment on the load sharing capabilities. This router has WAY more capabilities than the average home network will ever use or need but it works as a basic router just fine. I only give it 4 stars because of the complicated and confusing online GUI interface.

5 out of 5 eggsTL-R470T

Pros: Price, features, easy to setup

Cons: None yes

Other Thoughts: Used this for a client who switched from a T1 to Broadband. Existing router was only "getting" 9Mbps. We thought it was an issue with Comcast's setup but we tried this router and were getting 50Mbps +. Bought this based on all the favorable reviews and not disappointed so far.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well

Pros: Far more capability than an average home user needs. Easy to configure. No problems.

Cons: With power and flexibility comes complexity. Expect to think a little to get it set up just the way you want it, instead of using all defaults.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great price for what you get. Options galore compared to my old linksys 4 port switch. Get it, you'll be happy.

Cons: none, could be cheaper?

Other Thoughts: My old linksys 4 port router, befsr41 ver4.3 has been flaking out for 2 years at least, it needed to reset every so often because it would choke up and kill my internet speeds. I finally got tired of messing with it, as using any kind of bandwidth intensive software would cause it to choke up. I wanted something that could load balance and wasn't expensive. this tp link router fit the bill. hopefully it lasts as long as my old linksys, without the degradation i see the linksys has pretty low reviews now, it didn't when i purchased mine way way back. .

5 out of 5 eggsIt simply works.

Pros: Default configuration works out of the box for me. The web ui provides all the tools I needed. METAL case (worth 2 eggs to me). Documentation provides the IP address and credentials needed to set it up.

I run WAN port 1 connected to my WISP and WAN port 2 connected to Centurylink DSL via a TP-Link 8616 ADSL 2+ modem. Set WAN2 as primary. When it fails the fallover to WAN1 is fast and my sessions are maintained.

Cons: No SNMP support - I wanted to monitor it.

4 out of 5 eggsReally Happy Surprise

Pros: My DLink GamersLounge router went nuts (literally) one day and I ended up having to shop for a router. A lot of routers that I've tired over the years have been really substandard(dropping connections etc) but I took a chance with this one and it's fantastic. Not only does it have many, many great features you'd normally find in a good router but it can do network load balancing with up to 4 WANs. These days I'm using it for both my ADSL and Cable connection, which is somewhat important due to my telecommuting.

Cons: Haven't found any.

5 out of 5 eggsvery nice device

Pros: delivered on bonding two cable modem connections
VLAN creation was grade school simple
good statistics
CPU util meter

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I bought this device to bond two cable modem connections. I run a small office (less than 10 employees) however we do serve some online apps from our environment. The bonding worked as advertised. I also wanted to create a private network from one pool of IPs, the VLAN creation was super easy and worked perfectly. Was able to bridge a wireless router as well to the LAN side and create a firewalled wireless network. A++
