5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: Was a snap to install the card, plenty of room in my case. Installed the software/driver and worked as advertised.

After install was done, I went on-line and did a speed test. This card is installed in a computer about 40 feet away from router and has to go through 1 wall. Note: I made sure not to push the computer up against the wall, I have about 6" of space from antenna and wall. I have fios 50Mbps down 50Mbps up, my test results were 52Mbps down and a little over 60Mbps upload speed. Very happy. (:-)

1 out of 5 eggsWorst buy

Pros: It connects sometimes

Cons: It disconnects from my router all the time. Has trouble keeping good connection. Drops many packets. Slow. Compared to a USB adapter the USB adapter for half the price blows it out of the water. I've updated drivers, took any interference into account and yet nothing helps this card. I'm really upset that I bought this. I've worked with it for a year and its so bad. I hope TP-link takes this product off or lowers the price to around 15 dollars. This card should be used at a last resort if you cannot buy anything else.

1 out of 5 eggsNot a very good card, pretty slow.

Pros: Fit nicely in my case, was easy to install

Cons: Do not get this card if you play a lot of online games. The connection is usually pretty terrible, and you do nothing but lag in game. I am surprised by all of the high reviews on this product, because I feel that it really doesn't deserve it. My computer is in the room next to my modem and I still get maybe one or two bars, no matter how much I adjust the antennas.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Customer,

We are sorry to see that you are not satisfied with this device.

If you haven't done so already then I would suggest trying to upgrade the driver from our latest one on our site: http://www.tp-link.us/support/download/?model=TL-WDN4800&version=V1#tbl_a

Some issues that I have seen with the PCIe adapters are when the Computer is too close to the wall and the adapter is some where between the Computer and the wall.

This may cause obstruction of the signal and give you poor performance.

If you have another PCIe adapter available then it may be worth while to give that a try and see if you have better signal.

Please feel free to contact our technical support team if you have any further issues.

Best Regards!

2 out of 5 eggsGreat.... while it worked.

Pros: Default antenna are decent
Small card form-factor and came with half size backplane adapter.

Cons: After 12 days, this adapter started getting slower. Put external, larger antenna on it and solved the problem.

After 38 days, the adapter will connect to the network, but wont do anything. Shows perfect strength, but a packet grabber shows its spewing just garbage packets. Tried different encryption, and no encryption. No luck.

Other Thoughts: This was great while it lasted and worked well in a house that has a horrible dead spot.

Unfortunately I used external antenna that really help with speed and signal, but also collect all other signals and may have just burned it out.

Coincidentally, my Linksys router died at the same time. The loss of the 5GHz transceiver (Which this card was using), made life difficult in finding the problem.

Oh well. Replaced router and put the 802.11b adapter back in. That pc's able to surf, but its slow.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: The current version comes with a low profile bracket. This is based on an Atheros chipset, which is my favorite for wireless purposes. It runs 3x3 in both 2.4GHz and 5GHz.

Cons: None that I have found.

Other Thoughts: I have installed over 100 of these in client computers running Windows 7 and never had a problem with any of them. They are a great wireless adapter. I use them exclusively in my IT consulting business.

4 out of 5 eggsworks great so far

Pros: easy install. windows 8.1 didn't recognize the card right away but I used the install cd and it was working in minutes. it found and connected to my 5G network quickly. I got this to replace another TP-Link USB wifi adapter that was a few years old and did not work very well.

Cons: none so far, but I'll update this post if I find any.
