5 out of 5 eggsA must for travellers

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WR702N Wireless N150 Travel Router, Nano Size, Multifunction, 150Mbps

Pros: Small. Versatile.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I use this for travelling outside the US.Most hotels outside the US don't offer wifi. I use this to setup wifi so I can make free wifi calls on my T-Mobile android phone. This router also has a repeater mode, which allows to boost the wifi signal in case my room doesn't get a strong enough signal to make calls. It's been a huge money saver.

I have this coupled with a 4port USB power adapter so I only have to use 1 voltage converter to power this router, my cellphone, and my tablet.

5 out of 5 eggsA MUST HAVE!!

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WR702N Wireless N150 Travel Router, Nano Size, Multifunction, 150Mbps

Pros: If you own a Surface Pro or other device with a picky Wi-Fi transceiver this little guy is a breath of fresh air. Plenty fast enough to game or stream 1080p video and has an impressive reach distance for its size. I will by a second and third one just for how impressed I am with it!

Cons: the only con i have for this is the Cat.5 UTP Flat cable, its a bit too short to use for low wall connections and still put it on a table. Its also susceptible to degradation if near a lot of ac power.
But Seriously who cares! This thing is awesome!

5 out of 5 eggsReally great with multiple functions

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WR702N Wireless N150 Travel Router, Nano Size, Multifunction, 150Mbps

Pros: This little thing is great! It's useful in pretty much every networking environment you can think of. Currently using it in Client mode.

Cons: Fairly annoying to switch between functions. There really should be a multiple way hardware switch to move between functions.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WR702N Wireless N150 Travel Router, Nano Size, Multifunction, 150Mbps

Pros: Wouldn't know

Cons: Would not power up.

Other Thoughts: Was glad to catch this on sale. Unit arrived DOA. Won't do anything. My only option is to pay over ten bucks to return something that only cost me 15 to begin with. Learned my lesson. I guess it's going in the trash.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Customer,

Thank you for checking out our Router.

We are sorry to see that you are having some issues with this device.

This should have a usb be caple to power the Router on.

If you haven't already then I would try several USB slots and perhaps a different USB cable to determine that the device is in fact dead.

If you would like to contact our Technical Support team then we can go ahead and issue an RMA for you to replace your device with a new one.

Feel free to contact me as well at howard.he@tp-link.com for any issues or concerns.

Best Regards!

4 out of 5 eggsGreat apartment router, configuration takes some work

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WR702N Wireless N150 Travel Router, Nano Size, Multifunction, 150Mbps

Pros: Gets the job done in a very compact package. I live in a one-bed apartment, with 25 Mbps download/2 Mbps upload, and get great signal throughout my apartment with at most a 1 Mbps dropoff in speed in the furthest away corner.

Cons: NOT easy to use as a router out of the box - instructions provided for configuring are pretty helpful, but takes some time and patience to set up. Would not recommend this to someone with weak tech savvy.

Other Thoughts: I haven't explored the modes besides Router mode, but it's an added plus to have a router that is easy to travel with and can be configured in a wide variety of modes.

I use this with a Motorola SB6120 Surfboard cable modem.

4 out of 5 eggsAlmost perfect nano AP

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WR702N Wireless N150 Travel Router, Nano Size, Multifunction, 150Mbps

Pros: - Supports AP, Client, Router, Repeater and Bridge modes.

- Tiny

- Powered through USB.

Cons: - Doesn't support "client bridge" mode.

- Hardware not compatible with 3rd party firmware.

- DHCP not enabled by default. I had to find out which subnet the router's IP is in, then set my client's static IP to be in the same subnet.

Other Thoughts: The 703N version of this wireless router supports 3rd party firmware, which enables "client bridge" mode. However it is not FCC, CE and RoHS certified, so it cannot be sold in the US.

2 out of 5 eggsUnreliable WDS

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WR702N Wireless N150 Travel Router, Nano Size, Multifunction, 150Mbps

Pros: Small. Good amount of features.

Cons: Falls off network daily when in WDS mode.

Other Thoughts: I was planning on using it to extend weak hotel wifi while traveling, and it might still work as such, but I'd have passed on it, had I known of its stability problems.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Customer,

If you are using the WDS then it is important to keep in mind that the Main Router must also support WDS. If it doesn't not then you may have some issues like the one you are seeing.

Here is a step by step guide to show you how to set up the WDS:
http://www.tp-link.us/article/?faqid=227

You may want to try to upgrade the firmware to the latest publishing date to help with the stability.

4 out of 5 eggsGood travel router

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WR702N Wireless N150 Travel Router, Nano Size, Multifunction, 150Mbps

Pros: Good little travel router. Works well for hotels that dont offer Wifi. Why dont some hotel offer Wifi? I have no idea. Plug this into the Ethernet cable and get online with multiple devices.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Love it's small size and ease of use. Had a little trouble getting it setup initially, but a quick G search helped me out.
