TP-LINK’s TL-WDR3600 is a performance optimized simultaneous dual band wireless router combining the blazing fast speeds of 300Mbps using the crystal clear 5GHz band and 300Mbps using the traditional 2.4GHz band. With simultaneous dual band, users have 600Mbps of total bandwidth to power numerous bandwidth intensive applications at the same time around a large home or office setting, where simple tasks such as e-mail or web browsing can be handled by the 2.4GHz band at 300Mbps and more latency sensitive tasks such as online gaming or HD video streaming can be processed over the 5GHz band at 300Mbps, at the same time. With five Gigabit ports and 800Mbps+ hardware NAT, your wired devices will have lightning-fast, lag-free connections and, in addition to 2 USB 2.0 ports capable of sharing flash storage, printers, ftp servers and media players, users can power a robust home media network.

  • newegg 5GHz 300Mbps + 2.4GHz 300Mbps - Concurrent Dual Band Wireless The TL-WDR3600 broadcasts and receives both 2.4GHz and 5GHz connections simultaneously at 300Mbps and 300Mbps respective speeds. Like two wireless routers in one, this allows users to run day-to-day applications, such as e-mail and web browsing over the 2.4GHz band at 300Mbps while using bandwidth intensive or latency sensitive applications, such as streaming HD video or playing online games, over the clearer 5GHz band at 300Mbps, at the same time.
  • newegg Versatile 2 USB Sharing Ports Using the TL-WDR3600’s two multi-functional USB 2.0 ports, users can share printers, files and media either throughout the network at home with several different computers or even away, using the device’s ftp server functions so that you never have to part with your files.
  • newegg Blazing Wired Speeds – 5 Gigabit Ports + 800Mbps Hardware NAT With one Gigabit WAN port and four Gigabit LAN ports, the TL-WDR3600 is able to support a robust and extremely fast wired network, ideal for latency-sensitive applications such as HD media and online gaming. With built-in gigabit Ethernet switch and a Hardware NAT function, the wireless router provides powerful data processing capabilities. Its NAT WAN to LAN throughput can achieve up to 800Mbps+ allowing users to unleash the full potential of their networks.
  • newegg IP QoS – Control Your Bandwidth TL-WDR3600 supports IP QoS (Quality of Service), allowing optimum utilization of bandwidth and offering bandwidth control over congestion, preventing bandwidth abuse. In this way, users of a small network receive committed and specific bandwidth, preventing non-critical applications from degrading network performance.
  • newegg One Button Security Setup The TL-WDR3600 features Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) that allows users to almost instantly setup their security simply by pressing the "WPS" button automatically establishing a WPA2 secure connection, which is more security compared with WEP encryptions. Not only is this faster than normal security setups but more convenient in that you don’t need to remember a password!
  • newegg Easy to Use The device comes with a CD featuring an Easy Setup Assistant that leads users through the setup process step-by-step, and even helps with wireless network settings and security configurations. With setups this easy, even novice users can have their networks up and running in mere minutes.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The best wireless router that I have owned. I have a movie server (in home only) so streaming full HD requires a lot of bandwidth. This router has no issue. I can pick up the wifi all around the house (two stories). Using as second router

Cons: Non right now

5 out of 5 eggsGot it to work after a little hardship

Pros: Price, Simultaneous Dual band, TWO usb ports, and it looks cool with the blue lights.

Cons: It takes a lot of space

Other Thoughts: This is the first router i purchased and after a lot of researched i decided on this one. I was going to buy an Asus router for ~$92 but, then i found this one with the same features (dual band, two usb ports, 10x100x1000 lan) for $64.99 WITH a $20 rebate.

My tech level is average and i was able to set this router up without THAT much trouble. I did have some problems at first. After you finish the set-up on the router go ahead and restart your cable modem.

3 out of 5 eggsMeh

Pros: USB, gigabit, and good 2.4GHz range.

Cons: 5GHz range is worse than I expected. My phone sitting on the same desk as the router was showing 4/5 bars and even dipped down to 3 at one point.

The 2.4GHz regularly drops my internet connectivity to wireless devices, but my PC connected via Ethernet maintains internet connectivity. This happens a couple times per day, and I have yet to get over 30Mbps on a 50 (or 59 according to speedtest) Mbps connection. All devices (PS3, two Android phones, laptop, and a couple kindles) will lose internet at the same time, so I know it's the router. The laptop will show 5/5 bars, so I know it's not a range problem.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Zack,
We are sorry to hear the router could not give you expected range.

May I give you some suggestions for quick troubleshooting?
1. Use a free software inSSIDer to detect an idle channel and set the router to use it;
2. Set the Channel Width to 20MHz to make the connection more stable.

If it still doesn't work, we would like to provide you a replacement upon your request.
Please feel free to contact me.

4 out of 5 eggsMedia server does not play any videos

Pros: Good value for money

Cons: I connected a USB hard drive to the router, setup share folders, everything looks fine. My TV is connected to the router by ethernet. TV shows the media server name and files and folders available on the USB hard drive, but when I try to open any video file it says "Unsupported file format". Exactly those files open and play totally fine if I connect the USB drive directly to the TV. On top of that I can play the videos from the herd drive connected to the router trough another media server app (Serviio or WMP) but I need the system working without turning my PC on. I assume the issue is in the router.

Other Thoughts: Storage sharing and print server does work ok.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear customer,
We're happy to hear you like our router and its storage sharing and print server works fine!

For the media server issue, may I know the video format and your smart TV's model#?
So that we can run a test to analyze it.
Your info would be great help to improve our products.

5 out of 5 eggsVery fast, simple interface

Pros: - 802.11n 5 GHz is very fast. I was hitting ~200 Mbps on my Macbook Pro.
- The interface is very simple and straightforward.
- 2 USB ports.
- Very low power consumption. With WiFi on: ~4 watts.

Cons: - The 5 GHz has noticeably decreased range compared to the 2.4 GHz. I was still able to get a signal everywhere in my 2 bedroom condo, but outside of the condo, it degrades quickly.
- The interface is a bit simple and lacks many advanced features.
- The rebate still has not arrived, even 3 weeks after it said it's been mailed.

Other Thoughts: I considered loading dd-wrt on this, but up reading about concerns about losing the 5 GHz frequency when doing that, I stuck with the stock interface.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear customer,
We're happy you like our router!

1 out of 5 eggsgreat dual band for it's price but..;

Pros: Great price for a dual band router
easy enough set up

Cons: Have to update firmware for better functioning
2.4GHz can be seen on network list but 5GHz does not and Idk why

Manufacturer Response:

Dear customer,
We're happy to hear you setup the router easily and apologize for the inconvenience/misunderstanding caused.
The 5GHz wireless network can only be detected when your wireless adapter supports 5GHz.
Like my old laptop, it only supports wireless B/G/N. So I cannot scan any 5GHz network.
Could you please take a look at your adapter?

If you want the 5GHz adapter, I recommend you TP-LINK N600 Dual Band Wireless USB Adapter, TL-WDN3200.

1 out of 5 eggsWas hoping for a new router

Pros: It looks kinda like it should work.....

Cons: I thought this was going to be a killer router. From the box, I plugged it in to see if everything worked. I can not ping from wifi ( and no IP Isolation is not on ) to the LAN and can not ping from the LAN to the WIFI. I can get to the internet from both wifi and lan though.

I updated to the latest firmware. No dice.
I updated to dd-wrt, no dice.

I can not get from wifi to the lan or vice versa.

Other Thoughts: I threw the box away the day I got it. I shouldnt have assumed it would work. Why would you think that electronics would work when you buy them these days.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Dave,
We are happy to hear you can access Internet via WiFi and LAN and apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Since Windows 7, the system's built-in firewall blocks the Ping response by default.
Could you please disable the system or the third-party firewall and try pinging again?

1 out of 5 eggsWifi isn't working

Pros: It's the best dual band Gigabit router for the price..I bought this few weeks ago and configured last week..I've been using PC and connected through LAN...internet was fast (of course) but I didn't try or realized wireless network..I tried to fix it but then called TP-Link tech support and even they can't fix it...later they said its under warranty so I can return it..so now thinking should I go for the same item or take the refund and get any other brand..have to decide

P.S : the wifi LED lights are never flashed or on (Yes, I switched on wireless button)

Cons: need technical support for configuration (at least in my case)

Manufacturer Response:

Dear customer,
We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Could you please reset the router for another try?
If you've switched the WiFi to ON but there's still no WiFi signal coming out from the router, the wireless module may be defective.
TP-LINK USA would like to replace you a new one without any cost.

Could you please contact me for the replacement?

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Runs OpenWRT and DD-WRT.
Dual band.

Cons: Has issues with gigabit and 100Mbps using the router's switch.
Wifi signal is weaker than my aging WRT-56g.

Other Thoughts: Constant buffering issues when streaming media to XBMC (using 100Mbps NIC) from my server (1Gbps NIC). Using an external switch resolved the issue. I exchanged the router and still had the same issue.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear customer,
We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the router and thank you for your effort on troubleshooting.
Your troubleshooting procedure is very informative and would be great help to our debugging.

4 out of 5 eggsupdate

Pros: working now

Cons: wasn't working before

Other Thoughts: This is an update to my earlier 2 star review. The wireless signal was very weak to my son's XP machine, but acceptable for my daughter's Win8 machine. I updated my son's machine to Win8 and the problem subsided. I also changed the channel width to 20Mhz which had very little impact.

Now my rating is 4 stars.
