4 out of 5 eggsDecent Quality

Pros: Good Range - I get signal up to 30ft through 3 walls.
Features - more feature than I expected for the price
Quality - Very sleek and stylish, doesn't feel cheap.

Overall i'm very pleased with it, it was a lot better than what i expected, especially for the price.

Cons: No antennae - You won't be able to extend the range on it
2 LAN ports - You won't have a problem if this is just for wireless devices, otherwise my 2 desktops already took the spots.
Stabilty seems decent, however every once in a while 3-4 weeks I have to restart it because a desktop or wireless device won't be able to obtain an IP address.

Other Thoughts: Very good bargain, it'd definitely buy again, even if its only for the wireless access.

1 out of 5 eggscomplete rubbish

Pros: None!
Does not deserve the egg!

Killed 3 days trying to install this horrible router. Should have quit after 5 minutes. :(

Cons: Router does not work. Materials and craftsmanship are extremely poor (even for the price). Sending it back for full refund.
Specifics:
-Ethernet cable provided has oversize connectors.
-Status lights simply blink or stay on without actually indicating status of the modem.
-Linux install via browser following manual's directions failed.
-Windows install using provided cd software failed. No diagnostic feature in the software to help and resolve problem.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Nick,
We apologize for any inconvenience caused.
Usually rebooting the modem will make the router work. Maybe the QIG/Windows Utility is not clear enough.
May I have your contact#? So that we can give you a call to setup the router?

4 out of 5 eggsgood cheap router

Pros: it works, takes very little electricity, always at room temperature, not even warm, my previous AT&T router was always burning hot and noisy

Cons: had to configure it manually with comcast modem, took 6 hours to figure out, 1.) cloned mac address 2.) manually configured DHCP

is it hard to make the installation software do it automatically?

Manufacturer Response:

Dear customer,
We're happy you finilly make this router working and thank you for your patience.
Usually rebooting the cable modem will make everything work. Maybe your modem has backup batteries and was not fully rebooted.

We will keep on improving our products to make it Plug-N-Play!

1 out of 5 eggsBad Stability

Pros: Inexpensive.

Cons: Stability is awful. It needs to be reset 1-2 times a day. It drops connectivity for no reason. Will likely work for normal home use but I was using for remote viewing on security system. Firmware upgrade did not help.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear customer,

We are sorry to see that you had issues with the connectivity. You are correct as this works better for the Small Office Home Office, and can get a bit strained when working on more intensive enterprise level networks.

Some common steps to help prove stability would be to set a static Wireless Channel to a channel like 2 or 9 - or any channel that isn't being used.

Changing the Channel width to 20 MHz can also improve the stability of the network.

If you find that you have a bunch of Routers and Access Points in the area for one Loca Network, then you may find that lowering the Transmission power can prevent all of the devices from overlapping and affecting each other.

Best Regards!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat For The Price

Pros: Works Great. Only Cost $9.99 with Free Shipping on Black Friday! For the price it is an awesome wireless N device!

Power "Brick" is about the size of a cell phone one, not a big block. Longer and skinny, not big and bulky.

Cons: Included Ethernet Cable is a bit short for the way my setup is.

Other Thoughts: Great. TP-Link Is "The Reliable Choice"

5 out of 5 eggsAbsolutely Fantastic Entry Level Router

Pros: - Slim design; minimal footprint.
- The interface to the router is nicely laid out and easy to navigate.
- The help descriptions provided on each page are very detailed so it should be fairly easy for anyone (technical or not) to understand what a particular setting does or affects.
- Up to date security. I'm currently using a fairly high end router and this one, which is 1/10th the price, is on equal grounds in regards to security options. (ie locking down and securing your wireless connection.)
- No drops/network hiccups over the 4 weeks I tested the router.

Cons: - Range isn't bad, but it's not great either. I had coverage in the house but noticed once I was outside the signal started to become unreliable. If you're in an apartment or a small to mid-sized house you should be good, but don't plan on lounging by the pool with a strong signal.
- Only 2 LAN ports and they're not gigabit, but intended by design to keep price down.

While I personally consider these to be cons of the router, I can't deduct any eggs for them as this router was made to be simple and inexpensive.

Other Thoughts: I wasn't sure what to expect from an entry level router at this low of a price point. And please don't confuse entry level with cheap, as this product is far from it!
And to be fair you can't compare this router to any of the high end models if you're looking for dual band wireless with X number of gigabit ports and advanced features. It's not looking to nor was it designed to compete with those. However if you have no need for that and just want something simple to setup, doesn't cost much, and just works then you really can't go wrong here. Heck, you probably won't (and possibly can't) get much better then this at a sub $30 range.

Bottom line: If you need an easy to setup router, have a handful of wireless devices, and no need for coverage outside the walls of your house/apartment then stop looking. This router will get the job done with some cash left over to buy a few more toys.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect!

Pros: Outstanding value. Very straight forward design, does exactly what I need it to do.

Heads up if you have any old net devices in your home (Such as a Netflix enabled TV, as I have) Since the TV most likely will not accept 802.11N, simply switch your settings to 11BG mixed instead of B, G, and N mixed on the router, and you should have no troubles with older network devices in your household.

Great product, fast shipping, wonderful!

Cons: Does not cook chilli for me on cold winter nights.
