3 out of 5 eggsWorks most of the time

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-PA2010KIT AV200 Nano Powerline Adapter Starter Kit, up to 200Mbps

Pros: Very inexpensive. This lets me get internet in a WiFi dead zone in my house. Provides adequate speeds for 1080p YouTube videos and low latency for games.

Cons: Every once in a while it will lose connection and take several seconds to several minutes to resync. This is the only problem I have with it, but it is extremely annoying when it happens.

Other Thoughts: Next time I think I'll spend a little bit more to get a better one.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-PA2010KIT AV200 Nano Powerline Adapter Starter Kit, up to 200Mbps

Pros: This was my first experience using a powerline adapter. I used it to put a wireless access point in my garage. These have been very reliable. I would highly recommend these!

I followed the instructions and set them up close together then moved the second one to its final destination and they found each other again without issue

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggswork great

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-PA2010KIT AV200 Nano Powerline Adapter Starter Kit, up to 200Mbps

Pros: works as advertised.

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: Only used these to extend sub 20 megabit internet to areas of the house, not to hide a server. I'll defer to other reviewers who did want full speed. 20 megabit and under is working flawlessly!

2 out of 5 eggsWeekly reset

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-PA2010KIT AV200 Nano Powerline Adapter Starter Kit, up to 200Mbps

Pros: When it works, it works fine!
I have tried these in two houses now. One was 1960s construction, I think, and the older house I am in now must have been built in the early 1900s. The devices have worked in both houses, however in the older house some electrical outlets provide MUCH better performance than others, and some outlets can't stand having both the powerline adapter and another device plugged in at the same time. In the other house with newer wiring, I could have the adapter and several other devices plugged into the same outlet without issue.

Cons: Unfortunately about once a week, the devices stop working and I have to unplug both of them to get them to start working again. Sometimes when this happens, I have to unplug them multiple times to get them to work (but usually just once).
They often stop working right when I start using the network more (e.g. for video games), and this is exactly when I DON'T want to have the network interrupted, so the devices are really not good enough and I will be replacing them.

4 out of 5 eggsHas worked well in my case for several years

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-PA2010KIT AV200 Nano Powerline Adapter Starter Kit, up to 200Mbps

Pros: Extremely easy installation, doesn't seem to bottleneck network at all

Cons: Takes up half an outlet and apparently doesn't like surge protectors/extension cords

Other Thoughts: Apparently there's always a "your mileage may vary" caveat with these due to the wide variance in home wiring, but these have worked great for me in two different residences, with a switch connected on one end to enable me to connect three or four devices to my network. No latency or speed issues at all. Literally just plugged them in on either end and they worked. Haven't had any drops I'm aware of in my case, but perhaps due to the newer and smaller residences these have been used in.

3 out of 5 eggsNot terrible, but not the best solution.

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-PA2010KIT AV200 Nano Powerline Adapter Starter Kit, up to 200Mbps

Pros: - Easy to deploy
- Fast in short distances
- Seems to transfer breakers flawlessly (see Cons)
- Great for smaller needs (see Cons)

Cons: - After a short distances across the house (same breaker) device because very erratic with throughput.
- While they claim 100 Mbps (approximated) device can only deliver 40 Mbps in my usage once I went 2-3 rooms away.
- I think this would be fine as long as you didn't want to do any large bandwidth task, the problem I experienced is once I attempted to stream a hefty video the pings immediately increased, meaning these have no built-in QoS. You would not want to expand these beyond 2-3 unless you want to deal with latency.

3 out of 5 eggsNot perfect

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-PA2010KIT AV200 Nano Powerline Adapter Starter Kit, up to 200Mbps

Pros: Consistent speed(while it works)
Does its job(while it works)
Easy setup

Cons: At least once usually twice in a long day of computing, this will drop connection. Unplugging and replugging the apparatus at my pc will sometimes fix it however 1/3 times i have to go upstairs to the router the unplug and replug that apparatus. Very annoying and when in a competitive shooter like counter strike it is infuriating. I hate wifi as I am across the house from the router, but this isn't consistent. Ill try another company and see how it rolls.

Other Thoughts: Definitely don't buy if you do important things that need no interuption with the internet.

1 out of 5 eggsPlug/Unplug and Play

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-PA2010KIT AV200 Nano Powerline Adapter Starter Kit, up to 200Mbps

Pros: Plug and play - it works right out of the box, no fuss.

Cons: Unplug and play - connection drops at least once per day, devices need to be unplugged to fix the issue, which is simply unacceptable for a piece of home network infrastructure. I am trying to imagine the special hell that would be rebooting all my electronics daily...

Other Thoughts: I see here that the Manufacturer actually recommends unplugging briefly to people having issues. I suppose my new powerline adapters also require a daily massage to function properly. Or... or... TP-Link, just build a proper device.

5 out of 5 eggswork for my purposes

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-PA2010KIT AV200 Nano Powerline Adapter Starter Kit, up to 200Mbps

Pros: Always stable connection when I need them. Connection usually faster or as fast as WIFI. Works in every room of the house, I need to Access points for that.

Cons: Not significantly less expensive the the AV500 model.

Other Thoughts: I only use them to set up new computers, computers I am fixing (software cleaning) on the bench, and house guests. For that they are cheap and work like a champ, and since my current router doesn't support a guest account, no one gets my WIFI password
