1 out of 5 eggsWorst Tech support ever!

Pros: Works sometimes!

Cons: I am a CCNA, I have configured many VPN routers, from Cisco, and Netgear. I decided to give TP-Link a try because of my client's budget, but the VPN does not work. I tried calling tech support several times, but the people who answer the phones, have no idea how to configure the router! Most times, no one even answers the calls. Stay away!

4 out of 5 eggsGood

Pros: It just works

Cons: Load Balancing is not perfect, but I amy not have the settings right yet
No good way to monitor throughput

Other Thoughts: I have never rebooted the router in over a month, I have 2 low quality internet conncections, and this router keeps me connected 97% of the time. I occasionally have to refresh a page when one connection drops, or lags, but it is working.

I would like more control over the load balancing, and more info on the data sent through easch wan port, but so far it is working as advertised.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Router Ever

Pros: I installed this router 4 months ago and I haven't had to reset it once. Quelled all the complaints from my family that the wireless was slow or not working.

Cons: A little difficult to configure the software. The basic stuff was easy but setting up port forwarding was a little cryptic

Other Thoughts: I own a IT consulting business. I will be buying these routers from now on for my clients.

1 out of 5 eggsFake gigabit router

Pros: It looks pretty.

Cons: When you buy a gigabit router, that means that router can get up to 1Gbit from the LAN to the WAN, as well as all plugs (WAN and LAN) are 1Gbit. This router is not. It is capped to 125Mbit. This is roughly 10% of your available bandwidth. Tested on Cat6 cables. The firmware the router came with is the only one available for the router on the TP-Link website.

To warn anyone who is looking out for gigabit routers ... if the throughput/traffic between the WAN/LAN is not 1Gbit, then it's a fake gigabit router. Unfortunately, this weeds out the majority of the "gigabit" routers on the market,

Other Thoughts: I hate false advertising companies.

4 out of 5 eggsGood router

Pros: lots of features; easy configuration; running fast

Cons: access control not work like described
I want to set the URL Filtering Rule on only a Group; however, it always take effect to all the IP range.
Hope they can fix the problem by next firmware

5 out of 5 eggsJust Sayin'

Pros: Easy to configure. Bought to support a family member to provide help via VPN.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: I had the head scratcher with Verizon not connecting via DHCP. Saw a note on the net that if you do not release the DHCP connection with the prior router, it will take several hours to provide the new router with an IP address.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Routers

Pros: Feature rich, no paid feature addon modules, all are included, extremely secure, and fast wifi. To the person claiming the device will not resolve a dynamic address from the ISP, it is more than likely your ISP is locking your modem down to your previous router/pcs MAC Address. call your ISP and tell them to reprovision your cable modem and give them the mac of the WAN port you are trying to get up and running. i've seen this with many ISPs.

Cons: Made in China, but what isn't anymore.

Other Thoughts: We use every TP LINK Device on the market including the Jetstream switches and ER series routers, and have not had a failure yet. our oldest TPLINK 10/100 switch has outlasted some of our DLink, Netgear, and Cisco Catalyst.

1 out of 5 eggsso far, no good

Pros: Seems well built form-wise

Cons: Doesn't work, seems I need to contact newegg for a replacement according to their tech support. Going to try asking for help on a forum first as I'm not sure I believe tech support that it's broken.

It sits there and says "connecting" to my modem, but never does. Modem is fine because I am using a different router on it right now.

Other Thoughts: Newegg will replace it, im hoping the next one works.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Customer,

We are sorry to see that you are having some issues with this device.

It is not common for this to be defective right out of the box and we are pretty confident that we can get this up and running.

If it does happen to be defective, then we have a 2 year manufacture warranty to replace this with a new one.

If you could send you best contact number and a good time to call to then we can try to get this resolved.

Some questions that will help us are:

Will this device power up?
Can you get into the Web management page?
What is the WAN set to - Dynamic, Static, PPPoE?

Best Regards!

5 out of 5 eggs***Update 10/9/13***

Pros: I have owned this router for around 29 days now and it still works great! Has not dropped any connections at all and overall I am very satisfied with my purchase!.

Cons: Non at all!

Other Thoughts: The newegg details state a 1 year warranty, but TP-Link's website and on the physical box states it has a 5 year SMB warranty with advanced replacement available. Still great and highly recommend it!
