2 out of 5 eggsNot all devices compatible

Pros: Small, fairly easy setup at first, strong signal on devices that would connect.

Cons: Couldn't get all my devices to connect. Started with my laptops on and nothing else, and each time I changed a setting I'd gain one device (phones, game systems) and lose another.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat product!

Pros: Set up was simple, plug in to router, follow install instructions and then plug into wall. Had dead spot in back two bedrooms and now I get full wifi signal on cell and iPad.

Cons: Loses connection after power failure or router reset. So have to unplug it for a few seconds to get it to reconnect.

2 out of 5 eggsPass

Pros: Simple Configuration
Compact Design

Cons: Frequently looses connection and requires restating
Limited range

Other Thoughts: I was initially impressed by the incredibly simple approach that TP-Link has developed for configuration of this device - plug directly into a PC with a Ethernet cable and open your browser, but as good as that is, and how much better an approach it is that just about every other range extender I have seen, the product ultimately disappoints.
The problem is not just the limited range improvement of the device, but the fact that it frequently looses connectivity despite moving it closer and closer to the source wireless signal. I foolishly even wasted time contacting TP-Link who had me reset the device (as has been done many times) as well as flash the firmware. These things did not help and felt more like an attempt to make me go away than help, and so that I would hopefully not obtain a warranty replacement. Well I did go away without claiming a warranty replacement because in the end I was so disgusted with wasting so much time on it and because I have a feeling that even a replacement would have these very same problems. It is a terrible product and a total waste of your time and monday.
Sadly for TP-Link this product has soured me on considering any of their other wireless products. I have had good experience with their simple gigabit wired adapters, but who uses those anymore?

1 out of 5 eggsHas many uses !!! None of them have to do with wifi.

Pros: It looks nice, and is very aerodynamic when thrown.
Has tons of hidden uses .

Cons: Didn't work for very long and even when it did, it couldn't stay very far from the wifi source
Warranty does not cover shipping.

Other Thoughts: Please ignore my earlier review of this device referencing the extension cord, as it was only after one day. It worked great the first couple of days and then started needing to be reset constantly. Now it has to be wiped and reset up any time the power goes out. It no longer retains any settings after being unplugged. Even getting it to reset was getting hard as it would not always broadcast after the reset.
It was also getting to the point that I had to keep it so close to the source router that it no longer extended the range.

However, this little champ has plenty of other uses!!!
1. Theft deterrent device: if anyone breaks into your house, keep a box full of these next to the bed and hurl them at any intruders. Trust me, one way or another you will be throwing one of these across the room, if you buy one.
2. Office assistant: ever wish you had a personal assistant to hold open doors for you??? Well, wish no more! Just take one of these beauties, and shove it as hard as you can under the bottom edge of a door and watch the magic happen, as the door stays propped open! Similar products sold on other sites go for nearly 3 or 4 dollars, but they won't start a conversation like these will.
3. Night light. Plug it in and watch the twinkling amber circle of ineptitude mock you all night long.
4. Skipping stone: throw as close to parallel to the surface of the water so the flat side rotates and perfectly skips 4 or 5 times before the EPA arrests you for polluting the waters with the one thing that is worse at doing its job than the EPA. The EPA hates competition.
5. Paint stripper. Toss this little guy into your chipper (sold separately) and take the little bits left and pour them into a bead blaster (also sold seperately), and viola, you can peel the paint off any object.

2 out of 5 eggsThere are better solutions out there, please pick one

Pros: Extends wifi coverage and has one port to use as an access point. Easy to setup.

Cons: Drops connections often. Coverage is not spectacular but I wasn't expecting magic due to the size of the device. I can hear the high pitched whine from the device that some people complain about.

Other Thoughts: I ended up getting a free generic wifi router when I purchased a modem on newegg. I set that router in repeater mode to extend my wifi network. That solution worked 2x better than the TP-LINK extender.

1 out of 5 eggsNever worked properly

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Never worked properly. Also have a TP-Link router so these items should work very nicely together. Sadly not the case. TP-Link may say they have 24/7 tech support but the woman on the other end of the line speaks such broken English it is impossible to trouble shoot. Firmware upgrade yielded no results. After sever hard resets and reconfiguring the device only so it would work for about 10 minutes to an hour, it stopped working all together. Now I can't even hard reset it to reconfigure it. DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM.

Other Thoughts: I am super disappointed as I purchased this for my beach house and since I don't live here and I always have 10,000,000 projects to work on while here, I ran past the 30 days to return it to Newegg. There is no way in HE double hockey sticks I am paying to ship this piece of garbage back to the mfg. They can't even talk to me about the problem. Very frustrated to say the least. Waste of $40 and even worse, a waste of hours of my precious time :-/

1 out of 5 eggsdoesn't really work

Pros: looks pretty, easy to set up, cheap

Cons: Didn't work -- from laptops it would connect sometimes, and be really slow other times. From phones and tablets (nexus 7, htc one, moto x), it would never authenticate. It would go "getting IP address" and "authenticating" over and over again. This happened occasionally for the laptops as well.

Other Thoughts: I was hoping to use this temporarily until I had time to snake an ethernet cable up to the 2nd floor, so I guess I have to do that now. Looked promising, but I guess you get what you pay for.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great!

Pros: Small, easy to install, one button setup, ethernet hookup, modern/sleek design

Cons: The LED indicator can be annoying if you have it in an outlet that is out in the open, but it's no different than having a router with several blinking LED indicators.

Other Thoughts: I actually purchased the WA845RE which is 300Mbps first but I wasn't impressed because I had to reset the unit all the time.

I was about to give up until I found this one. It may only be 150Mbps, but my Centurylink 20Mbps Internet does just fine on it. I purchased it because my DSL connection only has a hookup in the basement so it only gets one side of our house very good. I unboxed it, plugged it in and did the WPS push button setup and it worked instantly. I haven't had to reset it at all yet, and this is after about 3 weeks of continuous use. Now my connection reaches the other side of the house (ranch style, ~2300 sq. ft.) and out to my backyard so we can surf the web on our outdoor deck. I especially like the fact that if I need to hook up an ethernet cable to it, I can. I don't know why this function wasn't included on the 300Mbps version, but it definitely made this a better purchase.

Thus, I didn't I'd ever need one of these until now, and I definitely wasn't expecting an increase in speed (which I did not get), but the range of my wifi is now exactly how I want it to be.

1 out of 5 eggsUseless

Pros: I have shop runner so free 2 day shipping.

Cons: EVERYTHING! http://tplinkextender.net/ the site for the setup is useless. I had to search around for the direct IP address. The WPS setup didnt work at all, wasted about 30mins. Had to use the Ethernet to connect. After everything was setup, I can barely get pass 1Mbps on speedtest, when I yank out the extender, my speedtest went back up to 50Mbps. This device is useless, buyers beware. Rather have no signal in one of my rooms than have useless Wifi throughout the house.

Other Thoughts: the website shouldn't even be down.
