4 out of 5 eggsGreat little adapter!

Pros: This is a nice little adapter, I have had Linksys and Netgear in the past and they all stink, this is the best one yet. I use this with my laptop and while it is a large, it is still a good form factor for portability. I am having trouble with wireless speed, but I am fairly certain it has to do with my router and not this adapter.

Cons: Large width makes other USB ports inaccessible.

Other Thoughts: Wish this had a little stand I could use with the extension cable, especially for the price.

5 out of 5 eggsAnother day, another 5 tech delusion

Pros: This unit works well, as do the others.

Cons: 4 or 5 tech knowledge stephens who know NOT what they are talking about. One does NOT have to use the utility software or drivers from the CD. One does NOT have to use the utility software or drivers from the manus website. Performance ratings on ALL electronics are an " up to ", and not guaranteed. the included cable is for space requirements, not reception. And it IS completely different than a wired connection.

Other Thoughts: This unit, as well as all USB 3.0 , AC wifi adapters, have the RTL8812AU chipset from Realtek. the 5 techs dont seem to have any idea what that means, or what to do with that information once they have it.

The amount of returns that newegg has to endure from the tech knowledge behemoths must be staggering.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect!

Pros: FAST. My Comcast is rated at 105/10Mbps. This unit MATCHES my wired connection speeds of ~125/12 when testing through speedtest.net. Pings below 20ms as well! So much performance from a small device. This is when using the 5.0GHz N broadcast from my Comcast-supplied all-in-one modem/gateway.

The included USB3.0 extension cable is nice, but I still get perfect reception with this thing just plugged directly in behind my tower. Super discrete! The packaging was minimalistic and to the point.

Cons: I wish it had some sort of stand for those who chose to use it with the extension cable. Just having it attached to the cable and laying on your desk somewhere is slightly sloppy.

It's not plug and play...requires manufacturer-provided software to run. Either need to use the included disc or download from their website prior to gaining any functionality.

For those who want to plug it directly into a USB port...it's definitely bulkier than your average flash drive. Any ports directly neighboring it will be blocked. Thankfully I had a free USB3.0 on the back panel of my motherboard that was away from other ports I was using.

Other Thoughts: Paid $35 for this...worth EVERY penny! Why would it not be?...it's no different from my wired connection!

5 out of 5 eggsAlmost as fast as LAN

Pros: My desktop is two stories below and half way across the house from my Dual Band router. I upgraded from a 2.4GHz N, D-Link DWA-130. Instantly doubled my speeds. Despite only having 3 bars of reception, my connection is ISP limited. Comcast sports 30mbps while my device was pressing 28 from speedtest.net. It looks good and has a very subtle green indicator LED which doesn't light up the room. USB 3.0 is a huge plus as well.

Cons: Software is worthless. I also wish for a usb stick of this size (about 3" x 1" x 3/8") it was plug and play. I don't have a DVD drive so getting the drivers required internet access. I also wish the extender cable came with a vertical mount on the end. I have purchased much cheaper adapters which came with one. A bit bulky for laptop use, but functional if your not moving around while its plugged in.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this to anyone who has an AC router and needs a wireless connection on their desktop. I got it for $36, but it performs up with the $50 netgear and asus adapters.
