5 out of 5 eggsThis works perfect!!!

This review is from: TP-Link Archer T2UH AC600 High Gain Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter

Pros: Small, works amazingly

Cons: I wouldn't make me drinks.

Other Thoughts: it was perfectly plug and play for Windows 7 and Oracle Linux and actually improved the signal. I gave it to a friend after testing and they're still using it. if i give anything to a friend that's a huge recommendation. I'd easily suggest this to someone looking for better coverage.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Great and Looks Slick!

This review is from: TP-Link Archer T2UH AC600 High Gain Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter

Pros: The instructions for setup and installation of drivers were a breeze.
Once Installed, the unit performed extremely well.
The improvement on my wife's laptop was noticeable immediately.
This TP-Link Archer T2UH looks elegant.

Cons: The size takes some getting used to. We kept bumping the antenna and hitting things with the body.
The improvement at home isn't realized when traveling.

Other Thoughts: This is a good value for the dollar. I would recommend the TP-Link T2UH to anyone looking to improve their wireless signal reception at a reasonable price.

5 out of 5 eggsSuperior Signal

This review is from: TP-Link Archer T2UH AC600 High Gain Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter

Pros: Powerful, yet fairly small-profile adapter with a clean appearance. External, detachable (RP-SMA) high-gain antenna provides excellent signal. Comes with 1M USB extension cable. Very reliable and easy-to-use adapter that provided near advertised speeds and no problems during the testing period.

Cons: Green indicator LEDs; my personal preference is blue. Like any adapter with an external antenna, the T2UH feels somewhat bulky and off-center even with its overall small footprint. Adapter with extension cable makes a laptop a lot less portable.

Other Thoughts: This adapter works astoundingly well in sending/receiving data. Even with the automatically installed windows 10 drivers, I was picking up my router’s signal in the furthest reaches of my house at no less than 50% according to the provided software. The TP-Link supplied software worked well enough, giving you a fairly real-time readout of your signal strength. Another neat feature is the ability to create a soft AP to allow other WIFI devices to connect to your computer to use the internet. It also provides you with a signal strength meter in your task bar.
The biggest disappointment, which is not exclusively the fault of the device itself, was the lack of automatic support in Ubuntu/Linux. While Ubuntu did see the device via the lsusb command, the drivers were not automatically loaded and I was forced to find the driver on TP-Link’s website and compile and load it. It felt very archaic and 20th century. Though at least TP-Link makes available Linux drivers.

5 out of 5 eggsT2UH AC600 USB Adapter

This review is from: TP-Link Archer T2UH AC600 High Gain Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter

Pros: - Very good range
- Good value at price point
- Nice packaging with useful included accessories

Cons:
- Not the fastest link speeds
- Link LED could be better executed

Other Thoughts: When I opened this product, I was not expecting it to be as well packaged as it was. The device was housed in foam and solid cardboard, and the included installation manual and driver disk could be quite under certain circumstances. The included USB extender cable is decent in terms of quality, but I would have liked to see some sort of base or stand. The overall build quality of the adapter is good, but I would have liked the USB cap to stay on a little better. I'm not sure why these adapters even come with a USB cap, but it still could have been executed a little better.

In terms of link speeds, I was able to achieve the stated speed of 433 mbps on 5GHz and about 120 mbps on 2.4GHz. A USB 2.0 port can handle up to 480 mbps speeds, which means that this device can still function at full speed on USB 2.0. While these speeds are not even close to the best you can get, at this price point they are respectable. The range was quite impressive being about twice as good as the add-in card I have in my desktop.

My one slight complaint about this device is the link LED. It is a little on the brighter side, but my biggest issue with it is the fact that it lights up the entire end of the device. This would be fine except that it leaves dark spots where there are internal supports and wires. The one thing I hate more than overly bright lighting is uneven lighting.

Overall, for the price, this is a very solid device. I am someone who will always recommend an internal card rather than a USB adapter; but if an internal card is not an option as it would void a warranty or take up non-existent expansion slots, this is a very good alternative for adding WiFi to a computer.

5 out of 5 eggsSurpassed Expectations

This review is from: TP-Link Archer T2UH AC600 High Gain Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter

Pros: - Strong signal reception even in secluded areas
- Travel-style USB is handy when you need to transport your PC
- No problems at all after 6 months of everyday use

Cons: - The included software is a bit unpolished, but otherwise everything works as it should.
- If your computer is new and boots up very fast from SSD, the computer will not connect to the wifi fast enough before some internet-dependent programs auto-start (such as Steam). I'm not sure if this is related to the wifi adapter, but nonetheless is a minor inconvenience.

Other Thoughts: - Pairs well with the corresponding USB cradle - allows you to place the adapter in a more open area of the room for better reception!

4 out of 5 eggsSolid WiFi Adapter A-

This review is from: TP-Link Archer T2UH AC600 High Gain Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter

Pros: *Stronger signal strength than my HP G7 Laptop
*Solid Reliability after 1 month of daily use in Office
*Cost Effective
*Very Good Range - 49m or 163ft from router before signal dropped to -73db
*Windows 8.1 & 10 instantly recognize this adapter and install the drivers seamlessly. Even during a clean installs it's seen right off the bat. Great for system building!

Cons: *WIDE... be prepared to possibly lose the adjacent usb port unless you use an extender cable. Desktop or Laptop.
*Does not work on 5Ghz Band - N only.
*During testing, signal dropped and device died... would not recover. I'll explain more below.

Other Thoughts: During testing, the only strange thing I noticed was while walking and measuring performance is the adapter seemed to die once it went out of range. Walking back within range did not recover the device. I had to reboot Windows 10 to get it working again. Unplugging from the USB 3.0 port did not fix it. However, once the system rebooted it worked great as always. So I'm not sure if that is a Windows 10 bug or a TP Link thing but thought it might be worth mentioning if someone were to buy this adapter for an older laptop and happened to move slightly out of range of their router.

Other than that, I used it in an office environment daily for a solid month and never experienced a problem on any OC i hooked it up to. From Windows 7, 8.1 or 10. It's been rock solid and my favorite adapter for all things wifi!! Don't think I'm going to give this one up for charity.... my friends will have to buy their own! :)

I'm convinced that as long as you have a quality router this adapter will get the job done. I give it an A-

1 out of 5 eggsIncompatible with Windows 10

This review is from: TP-Link Archer T2UH AC600 High Gain Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter

Pros: Cheap.

Cons: It didn't occur to me to even check, shame on me. The drivers for Windows 10 still haven't been released.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent performance at a solid price point

This review is from: TP-Link Archer T2UH AC600 High Gain Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter

Pros: Okay, so this adapter is inexpensive and provides solid throughput performance. Under general usage, it will likely perform very well for your needs. I had no problems hitting N150 throughput of over 100 Mbps and AC433 throughput of over 150 Mbps. I wasn't able to achieve anything greater than this. That said, while the marketing always promises more and the product under delivers, this is satisfactory for the price point and target audience usage. You'll have no problem maxing out a 75 Mbps internet connection with this, which is good news.

Cons: Granted, USB 3.0 is probably not needed with a theoretical max speed of 480 Mbps and the max throughput of this device being 433 Mbps, I still question the decision considering issues like overhead can limit the maximum capability of the device. Making this device USB 3.0 ensures that this hardware limitation is not an issue.

That being said, for the price point, it's not really a big deal. Given the maximum real world throughput achieved, it's obviously not a heavy limiting factor.

The only other con is a drivers CD. It's 2015, my computer doesn't even have a CD drive in it. Plus, it's a USB stick -- USB sticks are ubiquitous file transfer devices.

Other Thoughts: I'm always a little torn as to the effectiveness of this design. If you plug it in, it sticks out and looks awkward. If you use the cradle, you still end up with a peripheral located away from the actual device. These are all acceptable for a desktop applications -- despite the desk clutter when used in a cradle. For portable applications, this thing is the antithesis of a good portable device that should be nearly invisible and hassle free when on the go. It's not a con -- but understand it needed to be said that as a portable device, you sacrifice the ease of portable device utility with this thing sticking out and requiring a cradle to use.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat connection

This review is from: TP-Link Archer T2UH AC600 High Gain Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter

Pros: Great range and great speed. No complaints. Granted, my router is less than 20 feet from my PC, but just to experiment I hooked it to my laptop and was able to pick up signal from my router (third floor apartment) all the way outside as far away as 100 feet. have had zero disconnects and have had great ping (under 20) while playing nearly every game I play.

No issues with getting drivers to work on W10 whatsoever.

Cons: It is 2015 almost 2016. This is a USB 2.0 device. Why in the world am I using a disk to install drivers for this thing? put them on the stick.

Other Thoughts: My rig:

CoolerMaster Mastercase Pro 5
Gigabyte Gaming 7 Z170
Intel Core i7 6700K
16 GB (8x2) Hyper X Fury
EVGA 770 FTW SC
EVGA 850W Supernova G2
120GB Samsung 850 EVO
1TB WD Blue
ASUS DVDRW
Corsair Hydro H100i GTX
Windows 10 Pro

1 out of 5 eggsNot Compatible with wireless mouse and keyboard

This review is from: TP-Link Archer T2UH AC600 High Gain Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter

Pros: Fast connection when I can get it to work.

Cons: I have been quite happy with the TP-Link Routers that I have, but simply cannot get this wireless adapter to work with my Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard.

I thought the problem was wireless interference because of the 2.4 khz frequence, but my wireless mouse and keyboard work fine on one computer, but simply will not work in another computer right next to it when I plug this adapter into it. In fact, I can get the mouse and keyboard working without this adapter plugged in, and they stop working immediately.

It seems like a usb conflict because the Logitech mouse and keyboard don't appear in the list of devices. I tried updating the Logitech drivers, but they would not even load because they didn't see the mouse connected.

TP-Link says on its web site that drivers for Windows 10 are coming, but that's not my problem because my computer is running Windows 7.

I have had the same problem on a desktop and a laptop, so it's not limited to some specific problem in one specific computer.

I'm not going to bad mouth TP-Link, because their other products are good, but there is something seriously wrong with this adapter.
