1 out of 5 eggsAwful

Pros: none, in particular.

Cons: Very poor manual. None of the software actually worked - completely useless on both an XP Pro system and Windows 7. No support for Win 7 64 bit - um, it's 2011, right? I ended up spinning my wheels for an hour trying to get anything to work and ended up just manually configuring everything after guessing that I could create a standard TCP/IP port, pointed to port 9100 (USB1), 9101 (USB2), 9102 (USB3).

Other Thoughts: Waste of my time and money trying something that looked like a higher-end solution as compared to the other, less expensive options.

4 out of 5 eggsThe Best I Have Seen

Pros: Supports up to 3 USB printers. Does everything you can imagine for both novices and expert PC users. Ive had other brands and by far this is the best.

Cons: Not wireless. Software is not compatable with Windows 7 64 bit. Hardly any documentation for Win 7 64 bit users.

Other Thoughts: How I set this up under Win7 64 bit. Use DHCP and router to identify IP address. Logon to the print server through a browser with IP address and make a static IP. Go into "Devices and Printers" in Win7 and add a new printer. Add a network printer with the new static IP address. Important! make sure to choose SEH (Boxed) driver and choose Parallel 1-2 or 3 (meaning USB port 1-2-3) for the corresponding printer. The driver should be already in Win 7 lists, if not update the list of drivers. If you don't know what printer is hooked into what USB port it tells you on your browser page for the print server. Finish by installing the appropriate 64 bit printer driver to the appropriate USB port provided by your printer manufacturer. This print server allows bidirectional support which is awesome giving you information such as ink levels. That's it Enjoy!

5 out of 5 eggsImpressive!

Pros: It works! Which is saying something given the amount of sub-par printservers on the market. I don't know how much difference it makes but 10/100/1000 interface at least shows this wasn't designed in 1970.
As the other review noted, this device has numerous settings and supports every protocol I could think of.
Drivers on website are recent, gives hope for long term support.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I have a lot of label printers in a warehouse operation. Each area requires 2 printers, up to this point I've used the venerable PS101 which required 2 server and a switch at each location.
With parallel port servers on their way out I've been on the lookout for an above average USB printserver and this unit looked like it was worth a try. With 3 ports, this unit would really simplify my setup by allowing me to eliminate 1 print server and the switch at each location.
Plugged the unit in and checked the DHCP for the address, setup a static IP, rebooted.
Installed the newest print monitor and printer wizard from the website onto my WS 2003 (STD x86), shared the printers. Installed the shared printer onto my Win 7 x64 workstation and printed a test page. Done. No really, I meet done.
I'm back ordering 4 more and looking on their website for a 4 port version.

5 out of 5 eggsamazing print server

Pros: - Does everything a print server could possibly do
- Gigabit interface
- 3 USB ports

Cons: - Web interface has slight annoyances

Other Thoughts: I haven't really used that many print servers, but my experience has always been something stripped-down and basic. This thing supports like every friggin' protocol and standard known to man and is absurdly configurable. It's a fast 10/100/1000 interface so if you have gigabit ethernet like me, printing is fast and you can scan over the network with ease. Oh yeah, did I mention that? You're able to scan over the network with multifunction printers that support it. About the only complaint I have so far is that changing settings on the web interface requires saving the settings and restarting the print server; page after page of settings and this can be annoying. Thankfully SEH has a software tool you can administer the server with without a browser; I haven't really messed with it yet but I imagine it renders moot the issues with the web interface.

Granted I haven't had this thing for more than a couple hours now, but I'm impressed. I'll try to update this review in a couple months.
