5 out of 5 eggsGreat Device

Pros: Good voice quality, Calls don't drop like magic jack. It can be used in any part of the world with broadband internet.
It cut down my monthly bill to about $8 a month if you divide the total cost of purchasing it with 12 month subscription and phone number.

Cons: once in a while you get high pitch shound and can last for hours or day or two but go away it self. I experienced it twice in last 8 months of owning it. Once in a while connection drops and device doesn't restart, you have to re-program it which is not a big deal.

Other Thoughts: when I ordered my device through Skype, I recieved a confirmation email from third party company. Few minutes later my credit card company called me and advised me that someone tried to purchase a car worth $9000, off course charges were not approved. I was really disappointed because I wasn't able get any help from skype. there is no support of any kind. I wonder why Micrsoft paid 8 billion dollars for a dime worth company.

1 out of 5 eggsGood concept, poorly executed

Pros: Compact design, easy to install and configure

Cons: Very poor sound when using land line for calls (Skype works fine). My first unit was returned under warranty because land line sound quality was very poor. Replacement unit worked great for a few calls and then poor sound quality issue resurfaced. Returned for a refund.

Other Thoughts: A little research on forums suggest that my issues with land line sound quality are not unique to my ConnectMe device. If all you want it for is Skype, then go for it. If you want land line also, be prepared to be disappointed.

1 out of 5 eggsPoor Performance

Pros: Easy to setup. If you have a firewall on you PC (like ESET) will not come up in network devices. Either disable it during setup or look in your router's log for the assigned DHCP address.

Cons: Worked for about a week then got a high pitched whistling noise on the line. Both sides of the conversation can hear it. Skype voice quality seems way lower than using a regular PC. Virtually no support from mfg.

Other Thoughts: Can't use static IP, just supports DHCP. Limited setup, no way to do a firmware upgrade, reset, etc. Cheap thin plastic box and connectors. This is a a great concept, but don't buy this product. Wish there was an alternative.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks great for me!

Pros: Use a regular telephone with Skype
Crystal clear calls (for me anyway) unless other connections on your network use high bandwidth (torrents, video, etc).
Callerid and voicemail work great after the most recent firmware upgrade.

Cons: Occasionally goes out to lunch and must be power cycled to recover.
Incoming land line callers stranded with continuous ringing while you are on Skype (you are not notified of call).
Cannot access Skype voice messages from your phone.

Other Thoughts: I did not buy from Newegg though the price looks right with free shipping as of today (8/15/12). See my posting about my experiences with Connect Me adapter at

1 out of 5 eggsPiece of junk Don't waste your money

Pros: There are no positive comments

Cons: Didn't work out of the box. Carefully followed limited instruction. A real piece of junk. Product support does not exist. Need to send email for help. Company doesn't reply

1 out of 5 eggsDoesn't work, the worst.

Pros: None! Don't waste your money on this VoIP!! Free Talk 1200 SUCKS!

Cons: Follwed startup directions that came with FreeTalk1200. Plugged in was not recgonized by my computer (Vista 32) as stated in start up directions. Support sucks too! No number to call for support. Must email and wait 24 hours. For the cost this really sucks!!!

1 out of 5 eggsNo Customer Support

Pros: Works well without much setup

Cons: No customer support. Literally it is non existent. I bought this for a relative through Skype, and it was supposed to be bundled with 1 yr of free calling to US and Canada. The product arrived and I was able to talk the tech novice relative through the installation. The problem cam when it was time to activate the Skype subscription and there was no Skpe Credit coupon code. I contacted tech support and repeatedly recieved no reply. Worried that the return period would run out before I could test it, I paid for a one month Skype subscription. Fortunately the product worked fine. I wasn't until I wrote a review similar to this one on Azkabandotcom :) that I was contacted by a customer service rep. Funny how all my other emails and calls were completely ignored. In the end, they said that they could only give me one month's skype credit, because that was the current promotion. So I got ripped off. Don't you make the same mistake if you buy this bundled with Skype credit.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect!

Pros: Easy set up, doesn't require an active PC, low cost.

Cons: No call waiting.

Other Thoughts: Switched from a D-Link Voip adapter to this, and could not be happier. Has worked rock solid for a month straight now. Caller ID works fine, and using this with a Skype "In" account provides you with an incoming phone number, and no land line phone bill. WAY cheaper!
