Bye-bye vonage
- Pros: No more phone bills, easy to set-up, clear calls and no dropped calls. I called customer service and waited less than a minute to speak with someone. Other reviews said that it was a nightmare to get a hold of someone there, but this was not my experience.
- Cons: None.
- Other Thoughts: I wasn't patient setting this thing up so I had to call tech support. Directions are a bit unclear if you have a real network and not just a small home network. When you plug this in the first time you need to let it download all of the updated software, do not interrupt this process or it will start over.
Ooma Telo
- Pros: Nice profile and sleek black appearance. Built in DECT6 handset capability to replace my existing wireless phone (one less device to power). Lots of features like community blacklists, USB for future bluetooth functionality, charging base on handset works with a standard USB cable (again one less charger to worry about). Additional numbers can be set to ring handsets privately. Plus all of the "me too" VoIP features.
- Cons: Premature product launch (devices were released just a tad too early, handsets were available before they could be used with Telo base... etc). But to be fair they worked hard to get it ready and works fine with my landline integrated.
- Other Thoughts: Product is still young and there are many features still in the development stage. Google Voice extensions, bluetooth features... etc. The product will continue to evolve after you get it home and set-up.
- Pros: Worked out of the box. Better quality than Skype or Vonage. Kids like the blue lights.
- Cons: Yearly fee for taxes.
