1 out of 5 eggsDevice is good, customer support is horrendous!

Pros: The OOMA device works great, lots of features.

Cons: The customer service for OOMA is by far the worst I have EVER dealt with!!!! I paid for my number porting and Premier service
using my employers charge card. After discovering the pop-up window that shows the payment made for the charge does not show what was used for payment or any other card information, i started contacting "customer service". I received an invoice/receipt for the Premier service after a few weeks, but have been unsucessful on obtaining a receipt for porting charge which posted on 11/5.
Many calls, offers of return emails or calls regarding status...ticket escalation many times...and still nothing!!!
Customer support in India informed me their hands are tied..that it is Corparate who needs to issue receipt. Called Palo Alto # twice and it just rang. Blocked my # and called again and it went through. Pushed prompt for support and received message. Will see what happens next....not very opptimistic

5 out of 5 eggsIt works

Pros: Works as advertised. No problems. Bought one for an elderly friend - it saves her money every month over the ISP's offering. She can use it no problem. Have one for myself. Saves me from using minutes on (or having to upgrade ) my cell phone plan. Great customer support. Should have done it long ago.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Don't be scared. It just works.

5 out of 5 eggsTwo years, zero problems

Pros: Terrific product. I have used it for years now and no one knows that I am not calling on a landline. It is that good. 911 works, the messaging system works, caller ID works. The cost is $4/month.

Cons: Works only when the internet service works.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks As Advertised

Pros: Ooma has worked exactly as advertised.

The ENTIRE setup process took about 10 minutes, and the phone was working the second I plugged it in after the setup was complete. Voice quality is the same as my cable company, but at under half the cost.

I know some people were upset over the porting time from their old service; my entire port was complete in 7 days. They e-mailed me when the request was received, when they forwarded the request to my cable company, and when the port date was set. Then I checked my online account to ensure that it was complete when they said it would be (and it was). The setup CLEARLY states that the port can take as long a 3 - 4 weeks depending on your provider.

Getting a free second number to just give businesses for applications and such is huge too, so you don't have to give out your home or cell number.

If you choose to go for premier subscription (as I did), the phone black list is HUGE to block out people you don't want to talk to, ESPECIALLY telemarketers.

Cons: None at this time.

Other Thoughts: I would suggest those who purchase this install it inline between the modem and router, not after the router. It will make any little issues you have (like a 2 second delay as I was getting or being able to get into the Ooma setup) all but disappear.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat VOIP System

Pros: Clear crisp voice quality as long as you have a good high speed connection. With the premier option ($10.00) per month you get unlimited free calling to the US and Canada plus 2 numbers. I have been able to assign the second number to my fax machine using distinctive ring with perfect results. Ability to block unwanted calls by community and private blacklists have eliminated 99% of nuisance calls. Able to port my existing number within 5 business days with great response and follow-thru by their customer service department. Unit was installed within 10 minutes behind my existing router with NO programming changes to the router. Voicemail and call history are now available from anywhere via a web browser.

Cons: Like any VOIP solution, good high speed internet is a must for using device.

5 out of 5 eggsPorted my number in 3 business days, I love it

Pros: Bought the Ooma a month ago after a friend recommended it. He has had Ooma for 2 years with no problems. After a month of no problems I had my ATT landline ported. I was expecting a port wait of a few weeks based on reviews on the web. Put my request in on Friday and I got an email Monday that the port would be on Tuesday. On Tuesday, calls to my number would be incomplete for an hour, and then Ooma kicked in. A port in 3 business days and only an hour of downtime is a win!

Cons: When hooking up the Ooma in my home network I thought I could plug one of my PCs into the Ooma, then the Oooma to my router. I could never get my PC to see the rest of my network. So I bought a switch and plugged both my PC and my Ooma to my switch and everything was fine. I didn't want to plug my router into my Ooma and then my Ooma into a switch as I need to access my PC from the web.

Other Thoughts: I have 20Mbps/5Mbps internet so I never worry about Ooma and QOS and bandwidth. Maybe you will need to if you have a cheaper plan. But you could just put the money you saved on your landline into a better internet tier.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: So far so good. The bluetooth adapter works really well so that I can leave my cellphone charging next to the Ooma and all my calls roll to the house phone.

Cons: You can put your contacts into your Ooma, via their website, and the contacts can be placed into groups. That's a good thing. The bad thing is that you can not set a different ringtone for each group. However, some of the DECT phones(Uniden,Panasonic, etc.) have the ability to do this on their own.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well. Very low overall cost

Pros: Amortized over a couple of year, the cost of this is very cheap. Where I am, there is a $3.47/month fee for the misc taxes. So if I work out the math, over a 2yr period, it works out to be less than $8.50/month. Own it longer than 2 years, it gets cheaper.
+ very good voice quality
+ built in answering machine
+ works

Cons: If you hook this up as your main router, it's the easiest, but this unit is very slow at routing. Hooking it up behind another router requires some configuration on the router (opening specific ports). Once that is done, and QOS is set appropriately for OOMA, this is a very bulletproof solution.
- could have easier setup

Other Thoughts: I hope they don't go out of business. Not sure about their business model, but so far, I've been very pleased with the service.

1 out of 5 eggsFaulty product

Pros: It worked for two weeks.

Cons: Faulty product. I gave it a chance even though others had issues. So did I. Never again. It failed when I needed it the most.

Other Thoughts: Had a family emergency yesterday and found out I couldn't call out from home. Incoming calls came through but I was NOT able to call out. Had to settle using my son's cell phone. Ooma service is the poorest I have ever encountered, too. Finally figured out the Ooma box is bad. I could have told them that. If it sounds too good to be true, in this case, IT IS.

1 out of 5 eggsWARNING: Avoid this product

Pros: Work like old VOIP service, until yesterday.

Cons: Yesterday, calls would ring in, BUT, you suddenly were NOT able to call out. Tech support worst I've ever encountered. They had me dragging the only wired phone I have across the house to hook it to the Ooma box directly, only to find out the Ooma box is junk. I researched this and found several unhappy users, many due to the product IS FAULTY, and the service similar.

Other Thoughts: I found several complaints , on other various sites where the users of Ooma state the product is junk. Very poor quality. I thought, what are the chances? Sadly, the chances you'll get one big paperweight like I did are really pretty good. I wish my lottery chances were this high. I WASTED good money on this.--- BTW, if you port your number, that is NOT refundable, as I just found out.
