1 out of 5 eggsJUNK

Pros: Haven't found any.

Cons: worked for about 3 days . Tech is a joke. Waste of money.

3 out of 5 eggsIf you get past the #(^%$@ Setup

Pros: Good Range Extension (When Working), but an absolute nightmare to setup with any type of security in place. Three days of resets, reboots, and a host of new settings to manage, not for the faint of heart, short of time, or network newbies. I could have run undergound ethernet cable in less time...

Cons: Setup disk is useless. Software instructions are vague at best and require extensive network management expertise to properly configure. Support runs through the same canned ("turn-off, then back on") processes that accomplish little other than wasting time.

Other Thoughts: Move your router. By a better router with extended range. Run a hardwire to another access point. There are many other (better) ways to spend three days and $$$ trying to get a semi-remote location to network...

1 out of 5 eggsMade everything worse

Pros: I did boost the signal

Cons: But it cut the bandwith into about 25% and made everything run alot slower. I had to disconnect it just to get things working and loading again.

Other Thoughts: Just move the router you have this thing is useless

1 out of 5 eggsConsider Usage Before Buying

Pros: Was easy to configure and get operating.

Cons: I was very disapointed with the overall prefornance. This extender is only about 8 ft away in a straight line of sight from my gateway and has trouble maintaining a good signal. I will say that this is being used in a steel frame office building so I would expect the relayed signal to be decreased but being as close as it is to my router it should have an excelent incoming signal.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks with help

Pros: After getting it set up, always works well. I have not had trouble with power outages as noted in a prior review, and I live in KY and seems like the power goes out every day. The problem is... (see cons)

Cons: Every time I update my computer or change my router, you have to reset to the current network, which is understandable. However, I have done this several times and each time I end up talking to "John Williams" in another country in order to get it configured. I just never have been able to get the setup wizard to work on it's own, which always makes me dig around for my book "Networking for Dummies." My son-in-law is a computer/networking geek at NSA and he did a lot of head scratching too.

3 out of 5 eggsChallenging Setup but works

Pros: Provides 5 bars of wireless internet in a part of my house that had none before installation.

Cons: Terrible setup when security is enabled.

Other Thoughts: If you have security enabled start the setup process by carefully placing the included setup CD in a the nearest paper shredder. Then plan to spend several hours of trial and error. I can't really say what I did that actually got it working but after 5 hours of trying different things I finally got it to work. Download the latest firmware update and download the full install guide from the Hawking web site and follow those steps using the browser interface to perform the setup process.

5 out of 5 eggsWorked Great!

Pros: Ran setup as per instructions. Plugged it in where I wanted it. It works flawlessly with plenty of range to meet my needs.

Cons: People gave it all sorts of bad reviews so I tried finding the firmware before installing it and the website isn't very useful for finding firmware. Did the install without firmware without any hiccups though.

Other Thoughts: I don't understand why people have had so many problems with this product unless it has been fixed by the company since then.
