4 out of 5 eggsit works

Pros: bought this as antenna upgrade for tp link wireless router. router is used to provide access for a friend's i phone a good 600ft away. he only got two bars if within 300ft. using this antenna, he now gets four bars inside his trailer at full distance. much better. now he doesn't have to come outside in the cold at night to use his i phone...

Cons: none yet.

Other Thoughts: simple to set up, plastic cups and mountings are solid enough to last a while. plus long enough cable to set on desk and mount in nearby window- just...

2 out of 5 eggsBy Two for Two antena systems

Pros: It boosted the signal of a USB adapter with removable antena.

Cons: This $37 directional antena boosted the signal on a USB adapter by about 9 dB. BUTTTT My $5 Omni 9dB antena boosted my signal by about 8 dB. Cost and Return ??

Other Thoughts: Bang for the buck, I would go with much cheeper "generic" antenas. Also, their marketting material all shows the purchase of one HA12W for all of their solutins BUT with their two antena units and others you need two. I thought I was getting a set for that price but YOU MUST BUY TWO OF THESE to work with either their HWREN2 or an old Linksys Wireless G (By the way, I had better luck with their antennas using DDWRT on an old Linksys Wirless G than their extender product).

1 out of 5 eggsPiece of junk, did NOTHING

Pros: ZERO

Cons: Take a dollar, tape it to some fishing line and use that as a high gain antenna instead. It will work as well as this piece of junk and you will save 39 bucks. Trust me this thing performed worse then the 5 inch screw in junk antenna the wifi booster came with.

Other Thoughts: Seriously, totally useless.

3 out of 5 eggsNot what I expected...

Pros: Extended the visibility of many networks....

Cons: Consistent... at dropping signals.... Couldn't get a strong/stable signal out of anything but my own house, and I don't live but about 200-500 ft from networks that I am trying to connect to.

It barely increased the strength of my neighbors wifi (Less than 50%), not the 100-200% as I have seen in previous comments.

Other Thoughts: I used this as a directional antenna for my Wireless USB Adapter. I was able to see about 5 more wireless networks, but the only stable network was still my own home network, I tried soo many different positions to get a stable connection to several different networks, but they all dropped verrrry soon after connecting. Ive spent too much time fiddleing with this fail hardware, I'm going to buy another antenna to just get over the headache.

4 out of 5 eggsWorking fine

Pros: Antenna works fine beaming my home wifi to my neighbor 200' across the street. White cable at 4' is just the right length to reach my Buffalo dd-wrt enabled router. My iPhone and Tivo devices connect easily with this WAP even well off axis and up to 100' away! This device is most likely not as directional as the similarly priced Hawking corner reflector antenna.

Cons: I question the use of the two relatively small clear suction cups for window mounting. Also, the long term durabiliry of their two plastic mounts/brackets. I've already broken one. However, it was easy reattaching the gimpy mount in a MUCH more secure fashion with a carefully chosen screw and washer.

Other Thoughts: I've never tried anything but window mounting this device. I have taken a MUCH larger clear suction cup of 3" diameter and wired it through the HA12W's top mount bracket for cheap insurance. With THREE suction cups holding the device in the window, I now have confidence in it staying PUT long term!

3 out of 5 eggsHawking HA12W

Pros: Works good outside.

Cons: Does not work through my Anderson windows. Works better throught the wall aimed outside. Works best when antenna is outside. I'm working 800' but the antenna must be outside.

Other Thoughts: The lead in the window stops the signals

5 out of 5 eggs600 feet through the woods

Pros: Works 4 times better than the two cheap, directional indoor antennas I was using. DD-WRT used to report a 7% signal strength (which worked fine 99% of the time), but with two of these antennas pointed at each other, I'm getting 24%.

The suction cups have been stuck to the windows for a few months now, so I guess they aren't going anywhere. Since these antennas are stuck to a window, I'm wondering what the sun will do to them and the suction cups over time. If the suction cups fail, I can always use duct tape.

Cons: No cons

Other Thoughts: I've had two of these stuck to windows in houses that are 600 feet apart and separated by some seriously overgrown vegetation and a metal storage building in the way. I'm using an Asus WL-520gU router with DD-WRT installed on each end.

5 out of 5 eggsExactly what I needed

Pros: I had to do a bit of research about antennas, and I am glad a picked a slightly more expensive directional antenna. The HA12W (along with the HWUN3 USB WiFi adapter) boosted the nearby open wireless networks and now I'm getting ~2mbps down and .6mbps up, with a ping of 50ms. This was an access point that my aluminum MacBook could barely pick up before.

The suction cups work well on a window that gets a lot of sun.

Cons: Can't tilt antenna up or down, you can only pan it left and right. But maybe the vertical pickup pattern doesn't matter for this type of antenna anyway.

Other Thoughts: The small clips on the plastic support legs may crack if you don't attach them to the antenna carefully. The good news is that you can use the included screws to secure them regardless. Tip: if you want to boost, nearby wifi signals, just mount the legs on backward, so that the antenna points outward.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Works well and with the suction mounts its easy to aim exactly where you want it. Much better than any omni-directional, especially for aiming up or down-slope.

Cons: 4' pigtail is not long enough for some applications.

Other Thoughts: Nice to have the N-type adapter as well.

It looses a bit of signal when you ad an 7' extension, but that is expected.
