5 out of 5 eggsLatest firmware serves dongles

Pros: Finally, with the 1.1.1 firmware update this thing serves Avid Media Composer dongles properly (Sentinel SuperPro and UltraPro). We are using it on Mac OS 10.6.8 and 10.8.5 clients. Old firmware used to drop the dongles randomly, kicking users off. We are using two self powered hubs to serve a total of 11 dongles at the moment (no external power on the hubs!) and it works like a charm.

Cons: None since the firmware update!

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect USB connectivity

Pros: Virtual USB connection over network just like the real thing, achieves at/near full USB 2.0 bandwidth thanks to its Gigabit port.

Cons: Power supply died on me after a couple of years, but it might've just been a surge. Requires drivers and the SX Virtual Link software on the client machine(s).

Other Thoughts: This is great for connecting to devices in farther-than-USB-can-reach places. I have used it successfully with a three printers, a scanner, two optical drives, and two USB-serial adapters all simultaneously. Not sure why the other reviewer had problems, an unstable network connection might've caused those symptoms.

Pros: Concept is very cool and the software is not bad to install. Easy setup and installation

Cons: Everytime you try and use the device, it disconects. Could not delete files on a USB stick, could not format a drive. Great idea but try a different product.
