5 out of 5 eggsFabulous solution

Pros: These things rock. Worked right out of the box, invisible and plenty fast.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I used these in a rental property that only had coax and no structured wiring to feed wired ethernet to three different floors without any additional wiring.

4 out of 5 eggsA handy alternative to HomePlug or WiFi

Pros: Brain-dead easy to set up, basically maintenance-free, doesn't trip cheap-junk (read: everything other than Square-D or Cutler Hammer) AFCI breakers like HomePlug does

Cons: Sssslllloooowwww. Sure, it's not 10Base-T slow, but it's barely better than 100Base-TX slow. Gigabit has been standard on everything for at least 10 years, and this just isn't up to par with that. Don't expect fast LAN speeds. It probably won't cut into your WAN-bound throughput, though.

Other Thoughts: MoCA is basically 140-ish Mbps, and it's not duplexed. Maybe that will change in the future, but for now, it's not as good as HomePlug's 500Mbps (also not duplexed) or WiFi's N or AC specs (and both of these WiFi specs can be multiplexed with MIMO).

But it works well enough for a single PC and a VOIP phone in a bedroom/office with coax to the splitter in the basement.

5 out of 5 eggsPlug n' Play not Plug n' Pray

Pros: Takes about 5 minutes to install the units in your home. Devices do what they promise to do - They work! Unlike power line adapters there is no guess work or uncertainty. I have a 2 story townhouse and the Actiontec. Devices allows me to have my main router on the second floor near the cable modem. The first floor I have a WiFi AP/Router that handles my BluRay, Media Streamer, Chromecast and all 1st floor wireless requests. DHCP, DNS & routing are handled by the 2nd floor router. The Actiontec creates the perfect network backbone for your home network.

Cons: None in almost 3 years. Just make sure if you have any work done by local ISP that they reconnect the cable securely.

Other Thoughts: Some people will say that you can accomplish the same network using all wireless, but the reality is streaming media requires reliable and predictable bandwidth. Having the Chromecast 3 feet from my 1st floor AP makes streaming YouTube, Netflix, Google Play Movie & Music work like a charm. You can expand your network coverage by just adding additional MoCA devices and drop a cheap router or switch in the room depending your capacity needs.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy and efficient

Pros: Easy to set up. Speed is much better than wifi or powerline.

Cons: It would be nice if this came with a POE filter as it really is a requirement.

5 out of 5 eggsGoing wired

Pros: I wanted to switch over to wired and cut off the wifi in the house (yes, I am wearing a tin foil hat). I have Verizon Fios and researched options since I do not have ethernet wall jacks installed. Voila, ethernet over coax.

Installation was effortless and quick. No configuration needed. Tested on smart tv as well as laptop. Both connected right away. Speeds are great, the same loading speed for netflix selections directly through router versus the adapter on another floor. Much faster (and safer!) than wifi. Will be adding a switch to one run once I find it/buy a new one...things disappear when you move and wait a year to unpack : /

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: I stumbled across these units in my research and purchased these from another retailer. Didn't think to check here for them. The price different was negligible, so look no further! In fact, I'm considering buying another set for the secondary bedrooms. I feel better without having wifi in the house.

5 out of 5 eggsBeautiful!

Pros: These things work as advertised. So far I have installed on FiOS and TW cable systems and both work perfectly.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I struggled for a long time with WiFi in my home. Interference from neighbors was crippling. I was about to start cutting into walls to run ethernet throughout the house when I decided to try these. They hit same speeds across the house as the PC connected directly to router. THANK YOU!!!

5 out of 5 eggsFor my HTPC

Pros: After trying to get my media center extender to work via Wi-Fi and Power Line Ethernet adapters, this MoCA adapter had me up and running within 5 minutes. All I had to do was plug the power in, attach the coax, and then attach the Ethernet cable.

Cons: I wish these things were a lot cheaper.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for Cable

Pros: Almost a no brainer install for a Fios cable system because it connects to any coax outlet no matter the distance from the router. Checked internet speeds with the isp and got more than the max throughput. Includes 2 ethernet cables and 1 high speed cable splitter.

Cons: Don't follow the instructions packaged with the adapter if you're using Fios. These units throw some heat which isn't much but was still a surprise. Power cord was shorter than expected as was the packaged ethernet cables.

Other Thoughts: Needed the cable splitter to connect the coax to the STB directly because if it was connected through the adapter (as the instructions recommend) the smart digital functions of the STB were lost.

5 out of 5 eggsMoca A la loca

Pros: Does everything it promises. Hook-up is a snap, Roku and laptop have never been this fast or this stable. Gone are the spinners and progress lines that used to take so long to get things going.

Cons: None
