1 out of 5 eggsI've been had!

Pros: None

Cons: Boy, did I get stuck!!! Like others have reported, the software is glitchy BUT the housing is a design flaw too.

I bought this to replace a 2 year old E*Genius that went bad. I climbed a tower to replace the E*Genius to find the outdoor ethernet cable jacket was to long to plug in to this unit and be able to close its door. The reason the door wouldn't close is because the hole in the housing for the ethernet cable to go through is drilled 1/2" to the left of the ethernet port. This can be seem in diagram 2.2 on page 4 of the user manual. Why would they drill the cabinets hole 1/2" to the left of the ethernet port?

Now I have 3 choices. Return the TP-Link to Newegg, or run new ethernet cable with a shorter jacket up a tower or drill my own hole straight below the ethernet port. Of course I drilled.

Well, it worked for 4 days, started going bugs and the computer never found it again after the 8th day.

After 90 minutes on the phone with tech support, there was no solution since I violated the warrantee. However they would email me instructions on how to fix it. Those instructions were to reboot the 5210G even though I told them I had done that 30 times already.

I then phoned Newegg to see if they could help. I found Newegg to be very understanding of the situation and they said they would contact to company on my behalf to see if we could work this out. They did and the company called me speaking Spanish and when they found I only speak English, they hung up...Thats it...I tossed it out and went back to E*Genius.

Other Thoughts: My reason for buying this in the first place was because it was reported to have superior sensitivity. NOT TRUE! It will find an access point with a signal level of just 1db, but like all the other access points, it won't lock on a signal level of less the 14db so its really no better.

1 out of 5 eggsUnstable

Pros: Can run on 12V, so car/RV support is nice.

Cons: Unstable. Tested with several WiFi connections, and it could not stay connected.

Other Thoughts: The firmware is klunky. I ran this in AP-Client mode, and AP-Client Router mode. Both modes had issues. The device had trouble getting it's WAN IP from the dhcp server on the network. An issue no other devices on the net had.

5 out of 5 eggsawesome!

Pros: I use this within a large home. It feeds wife to 2 PS3s, a Kindle, 2 Android phones, an nvdia Shield, 2 laptops running Win7, a tablet using Win8, and a Visio DID player that does Netflix streaming. Oh and a Chromecast. So ignore people saying they have compatibility issues. They are doing something wrong. Setup is the standard TP link Web interface and is easy to navigate.

Cons: It is meant to be pole mounted. I zip tied it to the supports in the attic and it went fine. Fires in a cone, not a sphere, so put it at the end of the zone you want to cover, not the middle

5 out of 5 eggsworks great

Pros: long range, good throughput, easy setup.

Cons: pole mount ONLY. wanted to just screw on side of building, it would not mount flat, has a 'C' shaped pole mount molded on back. I had to screw a short piece of conduit to the wall and then mount to that.

Other Thoughts: Very easy setup, worked great. The longest part of setup was actually getting it mounted to wall. I got full signal on my laptop about 200 feet away, with a house between. Tried an EnGen*** product before, it would only give me 1 of 5 bars in same spot.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent for wireless bridge use

Pros: Excellent mid-range bridge mode use. I've created a campus LAN connection to a new facility we're leasing 0.6 miles away across a highway. Limited number of remote users. We're getting 18Mbps throughput to the main corporate LAN even during severe weather with no dropped packets. Exactly what we needed it for. remove connectivity with zero monthly recurring costs!

Cons: Deployment was actually fairly simple, but I had the help of a master electrician. We used prefabricated 300' STP cables to run from the radios (on the roofs) to the nearest IDF or MDF. Most of the cost of this project was for hardware other than the radios themselves. Cabling, antenna, mounting tripod, etc.

Other Thoughts: Why can you still purchase these on Newegg's consumer site but not the business site? I have a business account but have to use a credit card and purchase them as a guest in order to buy them or to get spares, etc. Makes no sense. You either have them in stock or you don't.

5 out of 5 eggsWifi Extender

Pros: Extended my router to an outbuilding about 500ft away over a road. There was realistically no other way to do this and the TP-Link worked flawlessly. Easy to set up, good (30db) signal strength,

Cons: No cons.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Inexpensive. Great interface. Easy to configure. Awesome range.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I have three of these on my hotel property as access points to provide wifi to guests. They handle the load really well. The hotel buildings are spread over 5 acres and there are no dead spots anywhere. I purchased these to replace 3 hawking howabn1 units, these are much much better for way way less money. The hawking units kept getting blasted by lightning.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat range! Inexpensive.

Pros: Great range. Probably 500 feet, when mounted on the low spot of my roof, which is adjacent (6 feet) to my neighbour's house/wall. As other have said, it seems to be very directional. I can't reach the St*rb*cks hotspot about 1500' away...yet.

Cons: Interface is quirky, as others have indicated.

5 out of 5 eggsNewEgg has it wrong

Pros: This item works perfectly if you realize it is only a Wireless G, not an N

Cons: NewEgg has it listed incorrectly on their website, claiming it is a wireless N. See his link to verify from TP-Link that it is only a Wireless B/G.

http://www.tp-link.com/us/products/details/?model=TL-WA5210G#fea

Other Thoughts: Do your homework before ordering and saying it isn't compatible.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Product

Pros: Installaiton was a breeze. I am sharing my internet connection with my business about 400 yards down the hill. We are getting a 51Db connection. I just had to setup DNS (from my ISP) on the client computer after connecting it to this nifty tplink device and boom we were surfing. Connection is solid and bandwith speed tests are as good at the remote location as they are at my house. I had fun setting this up and am impressed at how well this works. It rained a few times since I setup the device and one storm was a severe t-storm and no problem so the device is well protected from the weather. Device does everything as advertised. You just need basic knowledge of DNS.

Cons: Had to drill holes in the mounting bracket on the device to mount it to two buildings. The mounting design on the back is annoying but it works. Thats my only complaint. I like the device and don't regret the purchase at all.
