5 out of 5 eggsHigh gain directional WIFI outdoor antenna

Pros: Solid construction, very high gain to extend WIFI. Comes with hardware to mount to standard TV antenna mast. It's been outdoors now for several years, and it works!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I have used this antenna for over 4 years now (purchased from Newegg) with no problems. Distance of a little over 3000 feet, NOT line of sight, with several metal buildings and trees in the way. (House to shop). Used this antenna on the shop, with an Amped Wireless UA600 (600mw) USB radio, and the DSL-supplied WIFI router at the house with indoor antenna. Used a short R-SMA to N-type pigtail from the WIFI radio to a 20-foot N-to-N M/F cable to the antenna. Signal strength about -45db, transfer rate about 150Mbps. Newegg has all the cables I needed.
TIP: Tighten outdoor connectors using pliers, then tape from the coax to coax, using a good quality black electrical tape (3M), covering the metal connector, to prevent moisture from getting into the connector. Mine has weathered several seasons with no loss of performance.
Highly recommended if you need directional boost.
In an open 'line-of-site' situation (where you can see the antenna) over an extended distance, I believe this antenna could do 30+ miles, with this antenna on each end, and with an amplified WIFI radio on each end. Check out the Silverstone 1000-mw radio on Newegg?

5 out of 5 eggsGreat long range!

Pros: Great range, stable connection.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I have used several of these for years. Great long range link. I use a outdoor wrt54g-tm and have a 23mbps wifi stable link 3000 feet away.

5 out of 5 eggsWell built and reliable

Pros: Solidly built and dependable.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Have had units like this in operation since 2008 through all kinds of harsh weather both winter and summer. The antenna is well built and has shown zero signs of deterioration in a windy, hot and cold, 5000' mountain environment serving a five mile link.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Like a flashlight with a narrow beam, this antenna focuses energy, incoming and outgoing, over long distances precisely as it should.

Mounted inside a building, and with a bit of math and measurement to get it pointed right, I extended a wireless network to the home office of a manager about 1000 feet away. The residence is virtually flooded with an excellent signal.

Cons: No cons. But it would have been nice to have a bracket system with finer vertical adjustment.

Other Thoughts: In a location given to high winds, an outdoor mounting for this antenna looked like a bad idea. I could see no easy way to mount it such that strong wind would not cause misalignment. So I placed it inside the building, in an attic space, on a bracket I built with plywood, shelf brackets and a four-foot 1-1/2" dowel. The antenna is mounted as if on a standard pole and with adequate standoff from the exterior wall to allow alignment in any direction.

The signal seems to pass through the structure with little or no attenuation.

The router is an ASUS RT-N66U which is known to have a strong signal and high sensitivity. It also seemed ideal as it uses its antennae in a dynamic manner and is not constrained to use separate antennae for sending and receiving. The router's center antenna jack was connected to the parabolic. The first attempt at alignment was dead-on and result was immediate. We had expected to use a bridged router at the other end, but it proved completely unnecessary. Laptops and mobile devices get an excellent signal and work perfectly on wi-fi throughout the targeted building. The connection is fast fiber and performs splendidly.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if this antenna could extend that signal for a mile or more; and with another parabolic at the other end, several miles should be possible, with appropriate adjustments to ack timing.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate

Pros: Well ok sorry about my last review I did find the problem now it is working GREAT problem had nothing to do with the antenna itself it was faulty wiring that I had purchased from the store (not Newegg) changed the POLARIZATION : Linear; Vertical back and forth to see what worked best all is good now

Cons: don't let me talk to alien's lol

Other Thoughts: still needs some more adjustments as it is sitting to low to the ground and better cable as in a LMR-600 Low Loss Coax would be best for my setup and it would be great to build a remote adjustment mount for it (my next project)

3 out of 5 eggssorry

Pros: Very good price and wind resistant

Cons: only reaches about 3 blocks just slightly better than my home made antenna that only took me 2hrs first build out of junk scraps 95% all TV cable 5% aluminum pizza plate for the reflector

Other Thoughts: something is wrong I am going to mess with it bet I will make it work better (cable man)

5 out of 5 eggsTP-LINK makes a nice product

Pros: Solid yet light weight for a 42-INCH WIDE antenna. Well designed, easy assembly, nice handy built-in 11-inch pigtail cord and N-connector, good "gain"

Cons: No cons so far but a WARNING: this 42-INCH WIDE DIRECTIONAL antenna may be more than you need unless RX-ing across 200+ feet.

Other Thoughts: Works well for LARGE 42-INCH WIDE DIRECTIONAL antenna. Did we mention it's LARGE? 20% better gain than smaller 20-inch wide parabolic antenna and 60%+ better gain than 8-inch stick antenna. Light weight casting and proper fit makes it easy to assemble using the included bolts and hardware. This is probably overkill unless communicating across 200+ feet. You may be better off with an omni-directional antenna like TRENDnet TEW-AIO70B or one of the Hawking brand antennas.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent product

Pros: -Works at distances of ~3 miles as described
-Mounts easy to stuff
-Sexy to look at

Cons: -Get what you pay for
-Have to buy cabling and wifi equipment separately

Other Thoughts: I set up a 2 way connection at ~3.7 miles using two of these bad boys. Transmitting location in town, receiving end out on a hill with clear line of sight. Super good wifi, I can play League of Legends, stream netflix and all kinds of good stuff. (80%-90% connection strength)

Pros: Dish is big and appears high quality.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Dish

Pros: Great Quality, Very Strong hardware, very efficient and useful.

Cons: They aren't free.

Other Thoughts: This dish is a very high quality. As a contractor for a Wireless ISP I use many different dishes very often and these have been the best quality and have never failed me. I also like the fact that they are shoprunner eligible.
