The redesigned MacBook Pro will take your breath away! This new generation of MacBook Pro is encased in a rugged aluminum housing for superior heat dissipation and damage-resistance. The new, larger display uses no mercury or arsenic, making this the "greenest" MacBook to date. The multi-touch trackpad lets you swipe and pinch, just like on your iPhone, and the entire pad acts as a button, giving you fast and precise control. When you're on the go, use the MacBook Pro's 3G wireless card slot for Internet connectivity anywhere!

MacBook Pro's 2.40GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor gives you quick response, and its new NVIDIA GeForce 9400M card offers discrete-level graphics performance, up to 5 times faster than previous MacBook models. You get high-performance response for everything from movies to 3D gaming!

In addition to its impressive host of hardware features, this MacBook runs on the feature-packed Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard operating system. With 2GB of 1066MHz DDR3 memory on board, your applications will run faster, even when you've got lots of them open, and you're working with large files. The redesigned MacBook Pro brings you a new and more powerful set of tools, and sets a new benchmark for reliability, convenience, and performance.

  • newegg Intel Core 2 Duo Processor The Intel Core 2 Duo processor includes two mobile-optimized execution cores in a single processor to enable execution of parallel threads or applications on separate cores. The results enable outstanding dual-core performance and greater system response when running multi-threaded or multiple demanding applications simultaneously.
  • newegg Dual Graphics Processing Units The MacBook Pro features two graphics processing units: an integrated NVIDIA GeForce 9400M GPU for great everyday performance with up to 5 hours of battery life, and a high-performance discrete NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT GPU with dedicated GDDR3 memory for the most graphically intensive tasks. A new graphics architecture makes it easy to switch between the two GPUs on the fly.
  • newegg 15.4" LED-backlit Display The glossy 15.4-inch, widescreen display presents images in vibrant colors and rich details. With LED backlit, experience instant full-screen brightness the moment you open the MacBook Pro.
  • newegg Built-in iSight Camera Snap photos, video chat with your friends, or go through a presentation with co-workers using the built-in iSight camera.
  • newegg Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR The built-in Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) module delivers three times faster data transfer speeds than standard Bluetooth for enhanced connectivity and synchronization between your MacBook Pro and digital devices.
  • newegg Mac OS X Leopard The Mac OS X Leopard (v10.5) operating system introduces over 300 more features than the previous version including a new desktop, updated Finder, Time Machine, Spaces, Boot Camp and more, delivering a brand new interaction experience, improved usability, enhanced data security and constant simplicity to boost your productivity.

5 out of 5 eggslove it

Pros: Light weight, easy to use!

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I'm not a big techy so when I went looking for a lap top I asked close friends and decided on the Mac because I truly consider it an investment. I see commercials talking about how inexpensive PCs are in comparison but I have found out in the past you get what you pay for. I have not had one problem with my Mac and would recommend one to anyone!

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent Laptop - But Not Perfect

Pros: - Good Design and Feel
- Glossy Screen/Excellent Resolution
- Trackpad works well
- Fairly good feel on keypad - would like more tactile feedback
- Better Performance than previous Mac laptop/ 4GB helps
- Firewire
- Excellent Boot Time
- Excellent Video Editing Performance with Final Cut Pro
- Excellent Photo Editing Performance with Photoshop, Lightroom, Panorama Factory, DxO Optics, PT Tools etc.

Cons: - Only 2 USB ports
- Short Battery Life when Video Editing
- Expensive cables and accessories
- Still no 'Insert' key
- Overpriced

Other Thoughts: This is an excellent all around laptop. All my desktops are Windows computers but this is the road warrior for video editing and post-processing digital photos.

Fairly nice software package comes with it. It is well-built and engineered. Black keys make a nice contrast.

I have a spare battery, but it is large, heavy and expensive. The performance is excellent but the battery life is not.

2 out of 5 eggsWhat a joke

Pros: "So thin and pretty"....girls like it and think it is stylish

Cons: Wife bought this because MacBooks look nice and she loves her iPod touch. I made her take it back after I checked everything out and compared it to my recently purchased HP HDX 16 to see if it was worth the price. NO WAY! For $900 more it comes close to the features and specs but still no cigar...

Other Thoughts: How do laptops basically half the price trump it in almost all categories? Do people at work or school just say they are great and others believe it? I know thats what happened in my house.

I looked over 3 other Macs at the store when we went to return it and same story....

4 out of 5 eggsGreat new Case, slim and light...

Pros: Light
New case style
Frameless looking screen
Backlit Keyboard
Gesture/multitouch trackpad
Easy Upgrade Ram and hard drive
Magnetic Power connection for safety break away

Cons: Only two usb ports
No Hdmi out - requires adaptor
Price, got mine for only $1720 still a bit steep
No stock 7200rpm hdd comes with 5400rpm
SubPar speakers, sound flat unlike my hp HDX 16
Short power cord not long enough for me when using at my house

Other Thoughts: overall this is by far the best looking Macbook Pro, in my opinion any way, the unibody look is seem less and looks gorgeous, sleek and nice to look at. Build quality is like no other laptop I have owned, screen is gorgeous and not as reflective as you would think, if you get reflections just increase the screen brightness. If you are in the market for a macbook pro, save some cash and buy this, 4 gigs ddr3 Ram and a 7200rpm hard drive from here and upgrade yourself. boot times decreased 7-10 seconds with 4 gigs ram and 7200rpm Hdd. Could use atleast one usb port on the right side, a memory card reader would have been nice too. Be sure to pick up a speck case for this or risk it getting scratches on it. If you still prefer Windows just buy this beauty and dual boot your choice of Vista or xp sp3, I use Vista 32 bit for the few programs and devices that require Windows.

5 out of 5 eggsbest computer i've bought

Pros: This is the first Mac I have owned since the '90s (OS 9). since then i have been buying PC and building my own. but i knew i wanted a high end laptop. and i am very happy i decided to get a Mac. The display is wonderful. and one nice thing that older macbook pros do differently is the optical drive is on the right side, so when sitting having the computer in your lap, makes putting disc's in (and ejecting) much easier.

Cons: I have an monitor that i wish i could use but with the mini-display port makes it yet another expensive i need to pay for in order get the DVI monitor hooked up. well unless i pay for one of Apples display and the are pricey. also more then 2 USB ports would be nice, and even spaced farther apart. they could be spaced better because i can't put in 2 of my flash drives. however depending on the device i can plug in 2 devices, but not all.

Other Thoughts: Another nice thing about this laptop is the ease of upgrading it. its very easy to put in new hard drive and RAM. so even if you choice the basic RAM and hard drive. it will be much more economical to get upgrades later. RAM and hard drives for these laptops are quite inexpensive on newegg. i also like how the very bottom part of the touch pad can be click as a button, instead of have a separate button. defiantly nice have the larger touch pad. Another thing i am getting used to not having any lights indicating HDD activity which i got used to on PC's.

2 out of 5 eggsAwesome Laptop, Great Price...Beware

Pros: - Great display
- Fantastic Design
- Unbeatable OS
- It just works...

Cons: Basically, the computer itself is fantastic and I am now a Mac fan for life.
As for the title, "Beware", I want to warn any prospective purchasers that NE does not offer returns on Apple Laptops. If the item is damaged or not working properly, your options are to return the system to them in 30 days for it to be repaired or replaced (no refund)

Read my notes:

Other Thoughts: I purchased my laptop from NE because the price was 100 less than that at the apple store (no tax or shipping) and they were offering 18 months interest free financing. But after receiving my laptop, I found issues immediately day one. I got error beep codes from the first time I turned it on. I sent the system back to NE for them to diagnose the issue and repair it but according to info I got from customer service, they did not even try to boot the system, and they "determined" after their "through 6-point" inspection that there was no issue with the system and sent it back to me and surprise surprise, the issue was still present. I was going to RMA the system again but did not have any confidence that it would be resolved and I have since resolved the issue myself.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: Amazing graphics, Reliable, quality, Sharp images, Easy to learn the mac OS, fast!!!. Awesome pre installed programs. Plus i got it in one day = D i love newegg.

Cons: I guess the price would be a Con, but hey you get what you pay for. Other then that None...

Other Thoughts: Everyone says that they hate macs because the OS is hard to learn. I learned it in about 1 hour using the tutorials that you can watch right as your setting up your macbook.. I absolutey love this computer. I mean i was worried about getting a mac since i've been a windows user for years. My wife talked me into buying it and have no regrets. I use to play world of warcraft and on high graphics i was getting around 56 to 70 fps. The only thing i wish this macbook came with was 4gbs of memorey instead of just 2gb. I will upgrading that soon. As things look right now i will not being going back to windows anytime soon. Even if i want to go back to windows i can just install it on my macbook using the software that came with it! I like how apple also installed software that is useful compared to when you buy a window based PC and you end up uninstalling half of it. I think apple has done a great job, if you are worried about the price.. just remember you get what you pay for.

3 out of 5 eggsCould Be Better

Pros: This is a pretty nice laptop. Got to Love a Mac! :-) There are more Cons than Pros...

Cons: OVER PRICED!!! Come on Apple! Your CRAZY!!! It's not made of Gold or Platinum.....

One Dead Pixel out of the box. It's not the end of the world, and not to noticeable but I do see it every once in a while. I'm sure if I took it to an Apple Store they would replace it/fix it. But not worth my time to drive an hour for one pixel.

Screen is a dirt and dust collector! It comes with a cloth that I use ALL the time!

The mouse pad is TERRIBLE!! I hate it with a passion!! The whole mouse pad is a pad, there is no mouse clicker button. Some may not have an issue with it but I always leave my thumb lay on the bottom of the pad "which on older mac's/pc laptops" is the mouse button. It's tough to get used to. I normally use a USB mouse any way.

Battery doesn't last that long. Only "2" USB ports... "What's up with that!?!?"

3 out of 5 eggsSets benchmarks in both innovation and inadequacy

Pros: -Impressive industrial design
-Backlit keyboard
-Above-average battery life
-Vivid WXGA display
-Magnetic power supply
-Mac OS X

Cons: Very expensive
-Laughably inadequate hard disk
-Only two USB2 ports...
-No HDMI or eSATA
-Proprietary "Mini Display port" requires investment in yet another series of display adaptors

Other Thoughts: The objective of this laptop is not to impress with specifications, but rather innovative features. This is accomplished at the expense of the specs. The display is sharp and crisp, the backlit keyboard is useful and well throught out. The multi-touch trackpad is fun to use and almost epitomizes the Apple philosophy to technology. A magnetic power supply, impressive battery life and the Mac OS itself round out the package. OS X is fluid, very stable, and more pleasant to use (and support) than Windows Vista.

It's too bad Apple decided to skimp on the specifications, becuase had they not, this would be a real Lexus of a computer. The hard drive is most notable- a 250 gig 5400 RPM unit. Notebooks costing far less can be had with larger, faster drives. RAM is meager, and the lack of data ports is just embarrassing- only two USB2 ports and a single Firewire 800. The Mini DisplayPort also means owners should expect to spend at least an additional $20 for yet another Apple display adaptor

5 out of 5 eggsThank you, Apple!!

Pros: • Wonderful keyboard!
• Display – much better than regular Macbook
• Solid aluminum feel
• Speakers – louder than previous generation
• Trackpad (gestures)!
• Magnetic lid & Magsafe
• “Hidden” sleep light
• Battery level indicator easier to access
• Dual GPU’s
• Good battery life
• Seems to run cooler than previous gen. (body acting as heatsink?)
• Mac OS!!

Cons: • Keyboard light leakthru
• Trackpad click a little louder than click button on previous version
• Possible wireless disconnect issues on unbroadcast network?
• Aluminum body texture makes it harder to hold onto securely
• Apple price for upgrades

Other Thoughts: I’ve owned two previous Macbooks. When Apple released this, the features were too tempting. Keyboard is the best I’ve used! Aluminum unibody feels very solid. Screen is beautiful w/ sharp, vivid colors. I can nearly always eliminate any glare with a slight tilt adjustment. Happy they integrated the magnetic lid “latch” from the Macbook. Trackpad gestures reminiscent of the iPhone are awesome! OS X makes Windows look foolish. Apple’s innovative features spoil me…how did I ever live without them?

The cons aren't all that bothersome, just some things I’ve noticed. The biggest issue so far was with the wireless randomly disconnecting from an unbroadcast network. Apple's firmware release seems to have fixed the problem. Keyboard lights bleed through underneath the keys at an angle. Aluminum texture is a bit slippery... more caution is needed when handling. Apple does overprice upgrades like RAM and Hard Drives. Cheaper to buy @ Newegg.

Highly recommend taking a close look at this one
