3 out of 5 eggsGreat Little Computer - for my elderly aunt

Pros: This computer is good for surfing the internet, watching low res youtube videos, checking email, and listening to music. The condition of the computer was exactly what I was expecting for a 5+ year old computer. I reformatted the HD, and installed Leopard - works just fine for a computer this old and with only 1GB of ram.

Cons: The disc drive and fan are loud. The battery life is about < 2 hours.

Other Thoughts: I bought this computer for my elderly aunt. She has never owned a computer, needed something simple and easy to use, and can't deal with lots of viruses or virus protection software - in steps Apple and this iBook for less than $300. Awesome deal for what I was looking to give her.

5 out of 5 eggsI'm satisfied

Pros: I wanted a refurbished reconditioned recertified mac, which I got, I wanted a mac from a good company, which I got plus a one year warranty on hardware & software & it's looking good (it's truly an "icebook") & running great, with lots of memory & storage space, it is powerful beautiful (all white) & runs great, I got what I wanted, a refurbished reconditioned mac during a recession, a powerful mac during a recession, a beautiful "icebook" during a recession that's under warranty, I love my purchase & I love my Icebook

Cons: I have no cons, I wanted a refurbished reconditioned inexpensive mac from a good Company (Newegg) my mac is under warranty for 1 year, It looks great (I love the color) it runs great, it's powerful, lots of memory & storage space, my only complaint is that their 3 day shipping should go to over night shipping, you won't be disappointed

Other Thoughts: Instead of waiting 3 business days, just delivery it over night

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Deal on a Solid Product

Pros: Fast shipping--ordered on Saturday, received on Wednesday. Unit is super clean--looks new other than a few surface scratches. Display is awesome, battery in very good shape for a refurbished unit and everything functions properly.

Cons: Small hard drive and a fan that gets noisy at times. However, I don't need a lot of programs loaded on this unit or files stored on it either. And the fan's no biggie--at least I know that it's functioning!

Other Thoughts: This is a perfect replacement for my dying Dell laptop. If you're sitting on the fence on this one, buy it now before they're gone!

2 out of 5 eggsGood for low expectations.

Pros: I purchased this for my wife who recently suffered a hard-drive failure (computer, not mental) on her HP laptop (Pav dv6000, circa. 4 years old, 64 x 2 AMD 2.4Ghz, 160gb, 4g DDR2). The Mac is sturdy with a solid, high-gloss shell; looks like it could go toe-to-toe with my 3-year-old for three 5-minute rounds. The key-pad is full size and feels good underneath your fingers - nice rigid keys with the perfect amount of resistance that makes typing feel satisfying. The screen is matte finish which decreases glare form sunlight and the on-board graphics are adequate if you are the polar opposite of an avid gamer. It doesn't give off too much heat when it sits in your lap and the 12.1 inch screen is perfect for on-the-lap viewing.

Cons: The computer was scratched, dinged, and smugged. It looked like some college kid used it for Frisbee golf (I took a Dell to Iraq for 8 months and it came out the other end looking better than the G4 that NewEgg sent me). It uses Mac X 4.11 and can't be upgraded to Snow Leopard as it lacks an Intel processor -- not good if you want to use some higher end online apps (like my wife's addiction to Netflix). Skype was uber annoying as the video and audio keep fragging on the lowest setting (Verizon FiOS 25/25 Mps) and there is no integrated webcam. It comes with 1GB of RAM which is good if you want a pocket calculator; not so hot if you want to multi-task between internet, Pages, and Keynotes. Speakers are poor quality, mic isn't very sensitive, and the magnetic lock that keeps the computer closed only works part of the time. In addition, there's no card-reader which is trivial but mildly annoying.

Other Thoughts: This is my first Mac experience and I'm not satisfied. Maybe the learning curve is just too steep and my middle-aged brain just can't break free from 15 years of PC ingrained thinking. The Mac toolbars seem counter-intuitive, no right-click function drives me crazy, odd that I have to bring a USB device to the trash in order to remove it, and it irks me that I can't physically get inside the computer and change-out hardware. I guess I want my computer to be more like my Chevy truck; workable.
BTW: I RMA'd this G4 for a refund and NewEgg charged me a 36 dollar "re-stocking fee". Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, NewEgg? Should I tip you guys for the aggravation and added inconvenience as well? Despite this, I am still a huge fan of NewEgg (tens of thousands of dollars spent over the last 6 years) and I probably won't let this isolated episode make me seek cheaper competition.

Bottom line: I should have gotten a netbook with 4x the storage, 2x the RAM, and a 1.66 MHz CPU for the same price.

1 out of 5 eggsUpdate to my previous review

Pros: Looks good for the price paid. That's about it.

Cons: I read a review by someone else about the video capabilities and I must say that the review was spot on. I bought this laptop for my wife so she could view movies and such online. It was like watching a powerpoint presentation. If this is how you like to watch movies and videos on youtube then this is the laptop for you. If you want to watch a movie that isn't a powerpoint presentation then get something else. I thought this may have been a problem with my router, so I took the laptop to a local coffee shop and my workplace and tested the internet there and I discovered the same problem. In other words, this is laptop's internet capabilities was just bad. Don't get duped. I did RMA this for the same laptop and I was equally unhappy with both.

Other Thoughts: Buy a different laptop.

2 out of 5 eggsThis product came with 512 mb instead of 1GB

Pros: Good battery life

Cons: I received my product today, was really looking forward to it, and man was I disappointed. The graphic performance is so terrible that youtube videos have quality of powerpoint slides, most likely because I DID NOT receive specified memory...It is upsetting to order product with certain specs and receive something else.

5 out of 5 eggsIt is what it is

Pros: This computer is actually capable of editing HD video with no additional software. There are many available plug ins for Imovie 6.0, a great trial run to get you used to Mac laptops if you are so inclined. Computer ran fine when I got it, the battery requires you to turn a screw head 90degrees to put the battery in and then you lock it in place. Nice setup, I like it.

Cons: Visually the case is a bit scratched, but it is a 2002-2006 model, so yeah it looks like a 2002-2006 laptop from the outside. Battery life is low, but the battery is 4-8years old.

Other Thoughts: I like it.

5 out of 5 eggsDecent Apple Laptop for the Price

Pros: Eventhough I have only had it for a couple days now, I love my 'new to me' recertified iBook G4. This is my first Apple product and I am actually quite impressed with it. It may be a few years old, but it still has plenty of power for what I am using it for. It runs office type applications perfectly. Battery life with mine is between 2.5 and 3.5 hours somewhere. I am glad that I bought it!

Cons: Does have some minor scratches and what not. I did have to reseat the RAM as it popped out slightly. Other than that, none.

Other Thoughts: I would buy another if I could. I am typing this review from it.

Also, to put the battery in, you must turn the battery lock to lock the battery in place.
