  • 512GB PCIe-Based Flash Storage
  • Integrated Intel Iris Graphics
  • 13.3" LED-Backlit IPS Retina Display

  • 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0
  • Thunderbolt 2, USB 3.0, HDMI
  • FaceTime HD Camera, Dual Mics
  • Mac OS X Mavericks

This version of the 13.3-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display (model ME864LL/A) features a 2.6GHz Core i5 dual-core processor, 128 GB of flash storage, and 4GB of onboard RAM.

It's powered by OS X Mavericks, the world's most advanced operating system and built to bring out the best in your Mac. And the MacBook Pro comes pre-loaded with the latest version of the iLife software suite (iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand) as well as the iWork productivity suite (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote).

The system is powered by a dual-core 4th generation Haswell 2.6GHz Intel Core i5 processor. The 4th-gen Haswell processor uses low voltage for improved battery life without sacrificing performance. The MacBook Pro with Retina Display also has 4GB of onboard 1600MHz DDR3L RAM, 128GB of PCIe-based flash storage and a SDXC media card slot. You'll be able to connect to the Internet with fast-speed 802.11ac Wi-Fi. The MacBook Pro also supports a/b/g/n Wi-Fi networks as well. The MacBook Pro also features built-in Bluetooth 4.0, which allows you to connect wireless headphones, keyboard, mice and other compatible peripherals without a hassle.

Retina Display

The 13.3" display of this MacBook Pro features over 5 million pixels. The pixel density is so high your eyes won't be able to discern individual pixels. Now with a 2560 x 1600 native resolution, you can see more of your high-resolution images onscreen with pixel-for-pixel accuracy. The Retina display also reduces glare while maintaining incredible color and quality. In fact, it has a 29 percent higher contrast ratio than a standard MacBook Pro display. Deeper black levels and vibrant color, everything is rich and beautiful. IPS technology gives you a wide, 178-degree view of everything on the screen, so you'll see the difference at practically any angle

Fourth-Generation Intel Core Processor

Since OS X is designed to take advantage of each core, the fourth-generation Intel Core i5 dual-core processor (based on the latest Haswell architecture) captures every bit of performance from the processor. When you need more power for a processor-intensive application like Aperture or Final Cut Pro, Turbo Boost 2.0 automatically increases the speed of the active cores. And by shifting core frequency in small increments, Turbo Boost allows the processor to manage performance without sacrificing efficiency.

This model features a 2.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor with Turbo Boost speeds up to 2.9GHz. It's complemented by Intel Iris integrated graphics, which can boost performance by up to 90 percent (over the previous generation MacBook Pro with Retina display) — so it can handle both everyday tasks and graphics-intensive creative apps.

All Flash Storage

This MacBook Pro feels incredibly fluid and responsive. It's all thanks to its PCIe-based flash storage, which gives you up to 60 percent faster read and write performance than its predecessor. When you use apps like Final Cut Pro or Aperture, you can perform even the most demanding tasks right from your internal storage. And since this MacBook Pro comes with 128GB of flash storage, you can keep all your important files with you, including large video and photo libraries. Flash doesn't have any moving parts, which makes it reliable and quiet. And flash storage is extremely energy efficient, which means your MacBook Pro also has the ability to stay in standby mode for up to a month without having to be plugged in .

802.11ac: The New Definition of Fast

The MacBook Pro now supports ultrafast 802.11ac Wi-Fi. When connected to an 802.11ac base station — including the AirPort Extreme and AirPort Time Capsule — wireless performance is up to three times faster than with the previous generation of MacBook Pro. And your Wi-Fi range improves as well.

The MacBook Pro with Retina Display also has dual USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI port and an SDXC card slot, you can build an entire professional studio with the MacBook Pro as its centerpiece.

Thunderbolt and USB 3

Delivering an amazing 10 Gigabits per second of transfer speeds in both directions, the ultrafast and ultraflexible Thunderbolt port allows you to move data up to 20 times faster than with USB 2.0 and more than 12 times faster than with FireWire 800. You can also daisy-chain up to six Thunderbolt-compatible peripherals without using a hub. Thunderbolt also supports DisplayPort for high resolution displays and works with existing adapters for HDMI, DVI, and VGA displays.

5 out of 5 eggsThat was fast!

Pros: Wow was my daughter surprised with this Macbook Pro for college!
Product was well packaged and came well packaged. It was brand new and still in plastic wrap!

Cons: No communication from Action Packaged, Inc. That's ok though, as I saved over $300 and received it in 5 days!

5 out of 5 eggsApple Quality

Pros: I have worked with PC's for over 10 years. The last laptop I was a Mac. I sold it and was in the market for a PC laptop. I returned 4 PC laptops because there's no quality control, cheaply built, and unreliable. I notice the PC manufacturers trying to copy the look of the Mac Book Pro. I had enough and bought the real thing. You should considering buying the TimeCapsule. It works with the Wifi at 802.11AC and you can use it as a NAS or TimeMachine backups.

Cons: It didn't come with a Thunderbolt Ethernet cable. The Macs I bought new for the company I worked at had the Ethernet dongle included. Not a huge deal because the WiFi is 802.11AC which works great. FYI you will need to buy this dongle, which is about $30.00. Also, don't forget to turn on the Firewall because it's turned off by default.

Other Thoughts: This is a great product. I used to be 100% PC, but Windows 8 is so horrible that it's time to abandon PC products. I love Windows 7, but MS is sticking with Windows 8 and 9 doesn't sound like it's going to be much better. It's time for PC users to learn OSX and Linux or your going to be very disappointed with Windows 8,9, and so on.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent laptop for both OS X and Win

Pros: Great size, great battery, excellent keyboard, ability to run Windows various ways no stutter when running Parrallles and bootcamp works flawlessly.

Cons: No speakers on the side like the 15"
Some SD card readers/USB drives will stick out even with some of those that would be hidden on the 15"
Macbook Air has better battery, but at the cost of performance

Other Thoughts: Great laptop. Battery lasts about 7 hours with average work use. Size is great for travel or on the go. I run Windows 7 via a separate program called Parallels which is great, but you can also use Apple's native "bootcamp" which is great if your don't have to switch between environments.

Two things that I'd like to point out in reference to the 13".

1. The SD card slot is closer tp the keyboard then the 15". This is primarily because the 13" doesn't have the speakers on the site that the 15" does. Where this becomes a problem is if you are thinking of buying one of those compact SD to SD Mini card readers to permanently leave you SD card plugged in for additional space. Problem with the 13" is that they don't make anything to "hide" the SD with this small footprint. Even the compact SD card readers (and usb) stick out quite a bit. If you have it in your lap or want to through it in your bag without removing the SD card this could be an issue. If you go with the 15", then it would hide just about flush with the laptop and you would probably never have to remove it, allowing you to use it as permanent storage.

2. The RAM is non upgradeable in all the new MACBOOKS. I suggest if you need more then the default 8GB then you custom order from the store.

Overall, I am extremely happy with this as a secondary travel/work computer.

5 out of 5 eggswork laptop

Pros: Fast. Easy to use if your able to learn fast. For work it's amazing plus the app you can get are great when you have a sec to relax.

Cons: I have had this for a while and it's still hard keeping up with where all my minimized windows are

Other Thoughts: In all great for pretty much anything. Pricy but, if your looking to buy somthing smaller then a notebook with great power to match the size this is perfect for almost everything
