Pros: -Compact & lightweight design -Screen is bright and colors are crisp and clear -Comes with (1) 2gb stick instead of (2) 1gb sticks
Cons: -No firewire port -Left "Ctrl" key is switch with the "FN" key which is really annoying but I will adjust to it.
Other Thoughts: For those having trouble installing xp the drivers are found on the Gateway website (surprisingly) including the sata drivers to slipstream into xp. Here is the link: http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/search.asp?st=pn¶m=T-6345u

Pros: Cheap and fast. Just as all other name brand laptops, it comes with several pre-installed programs that you'd never use. After unstalling those, it runs like a champ. It even boots up pretty fast with Vista. Keyboard is quiet, and the touch pad works smoothly. Great purchase.
Cons: too much useless pre-installed softwares

Rating: 5/5Awesome machine for low-end price
Pros: Decent battery life (about 3hrs heavy YouTube), quality build in keyboard/scroll pad, decent looks. Great CPU power, video not too bad, is similar to nVidia FX5500 using quick glxgears benchmark. Dumped Vista for WinXP Pro - everything works except for metal multimedia keys by the display after finding the correct drivers... volume slider by display does work, as does Fn keys. Made a nLite sIipstream disk using the XP drivers and SP3, and installed without a problem. I also dual boot this with KUbuntu 9.04 - don't have backlight level working yet, but everything else worked out of the box! Very sweet! No more wireless problems using either OS.
Cons: Vista. Rarely connected to my wireless network even with SSID broadcasting, even after installing all available updates. Also, can't buy this lappy without Windows installed to avoid M$ tax.
Other Thoughts: Glossy areas can be fingerprint magnet. This machine does not get that hot, no more than any other Core2 lappy you can play with in a store. Don't block the air intake on the bottom (duh). Display slightly washed out when viewed off-angle. Speaker volume slightly low at max, but very acceptable.
Can I have another for the sale price you had last month? Pretty please?

Rating: 5/5only one support call in 2 months
Pros: Nice size to weight ratio. PRICE-bought on sale back in May for 399$ + free shipping.
Cons: Thin body= more warmth.
Other Thoughts: I bought this for my 14 yr. old niece as her 1st notebook, which she runs non-stop. Only 1 problem with wi-fi connecting, if you would reboot after bumping the wi-fi switch off the wi-fi would not come back on. I was able to fix in bios/setup. Change setting for wi-fi start-up to ON, the default setting is Restore to previous. Good thing she has me for support because Gateway's Sucks.

Rating: 5/5Great laptop for money
Pros: Great specs for the money. This computer should fit 90% of population that do everyday tasks on comp. If you are just internet browsing, watching videos, pictures, music, school work this computers is a must have. Good dual processor, enough memory (can be expended to 3 gb limitation by Win), big hard-drive, multi memory card reader, and nice wide screen.
Cons: The only thing that I can complain is that Gateway is not letting me register for Windows 7. And dealing with Gateway support center via e-mail is close to impossible. I gave up.
Other Thoughts: Great everyday comp. No heating problem if handled properly -working on hard surface. Vista sucks on every comp, Windows 7 would be nice, but Gateway is misleading people.

Rating: 4/5Figured out the serial # registration problem
Pros: None yet... haven't played with it long enough. Will add another review when I have. This is my first Vista OS and I can truly say Vista sucks eggs......But not Neweggs! Will be installing W-7 soon as I have time...
Cons: OK. I discovered that when Gateway registration asks for the serial number they really want the number on the bar code. When I tried to enter the serial number as most of you have found out it gets rejected. They asked for a 22 digit number.....I looked for any number that had 22 digits, and low & behold!....The bar code number fit the bill. I entered
Other Thoughts: that number and Voila! I was registered! Those knuckleheads at Gateway should tell you what they are really wanting to register your laptop!...... One egg off for the registration mystery.
Hope this helps.
