5 out of 5 eggsGreat Tablet for the price - just don't expect a Note 2

Pros: -Fast after root/SetCPU
-Cheap ( I got mine for $5.49 After Rebate and Coupon)
-Does exactly what I need

Cons: -Slow if not rooted
-Very little internal storage

Other Thoughts: This tablet is good for the price as long as you don't expect a Note or Nexus

4 out of 5 eggsVery cheap

Pros: >Price after rebate: $6
>Works out of the box
>Easy enough to root and install Google Marketplace apk
>Comes with a stylus which is almost mandatory for it
>Reads micro SD cards and almost any type of external USB storage via the OTG cable that is also included.
>Wifi (b & g only, no n)
>Once you install marketplace and DL Opera mini, browsing the web is very fast.
>Does most of the things that typical tablets and smartphones can if they had no cameras, no bluetooth and extremely limited resources such as CPU power, RAM, NAND space, etc.
>Overall, it is the best sub-$10 ever. Maybe the only sub-$10 tablet ever - or at least in the North American market.

Cons: >No cameras
>Outdated version of Android which makes it very limited in what apps are compatible with it. Once you get Marketplace installed, though, you can install launcher "skins" which emulate Android 4.1's launcher and lock screen which does make it feel newer and easier to use.
>Lacks many other features which are standard on even the cheapest smartphones and tablets such as GPS, bluetooth, 802.11g, mini HDMI, etc.
>Very outdated hardware even for 2011 standards:
>Single core 800 MHz CPU
>256 MB DDR2 RAM
>4GB NAND; very little is usable, though, for apps
>2400mAH Li-Poly battery with only ~3 hours life
>Resistive touchscreen; no multi-touch
>Coby went out of business so:
>They no longer release updates for their tablets
>That 90-day warranty is useless
>Their support website is offline

Other Thoughts: This is an excellent buy if you caught the deal where it was $6 or so after a rebate. At the current price of $23 it is a complete waste of money. It might sound like a great deal at $23, but it isn't. Save at least $30 more and buy something with a minimum dual core CPU, Android 4.1 and capacitative touch screen. If it is $10 and you have some tech knowledge and a PC with a USB port, you can make this thing usable. Without at least installing the outdated Google Marketplace (now known as the Play store), this thing is barely usable at all. You could also root it and try to update Android, but it might struggle to run newer versions because of its single core CPU. Keeping it with 2.3 is probably best since it is functional as a very basic browser/reader as it is. The touchscreen is one of the reasons why it is so cheap. This is the same type found on devices like credit card machines in supermarkets and banks. They are more durable than capacitative screens which are found on 99.9% of all other smartphones and tablets because they can be made out of plastic instead of glass. They can also be used while wearing gloves but the drawbacks far outweigh the advantages especially when used in a consumer level tablet. Using your fingertip to operate it is very frustrating especially if you are used to something like an iPad (which I have; an iPad2). The stylus makes it a million times more responsive and accurate. Basically, the 4 stars I gave it were because of the price. If I had paid $23 for it, I would have given it maybe 2 stars. If I had paid the MSRP of $50, I would have given it the minimum 1 star (which would actually mean zero to me).

4 out of 5 eggsCheap refurb

Pros: Cheap - $10 after rebate. Nice, as even if I didn't like the tablet, it came with $10 worth of accessories (cover, USB OTG cable, power adapter, etc.)

Better than expected response time - I had really really low expectations. While there's some lag, it's not as bad as I thought. Page load times are OK, boot time isn't terrible.

MicroSD card slot

USB OTG

Cons: First time charging I thought it came with a faulty battery or charging circuit. After an hour or two of charging (it won't charge over USB for some reason), it would say 100% battery life, but the battery would drain in 5-10 minutes. However, after leaving it plugged in over night, it now seems to be working as intended

What can be gotten from other reviews:

Google Play needs to be installed separate

4GB of storage is just enough for Android itself, there's just over 200MB free storage stock

Resistive touch screen isn't as fine tuned as a capacitive screen, but works

5 out of 5 eggsReally good!

Pros: Not as slow as I thought.
Played HD youtube very well with a moded app (search youtube by theos0o)
Installed google play store ( google coby kyros 7012 play store it should be first link).
Really sturdy and would not break if it fell.
Streamed online movies and tv shows with no problem using MX Player.

Cons: The ram is not 256mb its actualy 160mb. The internal memory is 256mb the rest is used as an SD card.
Wasnt so good with playing games.
Not all apps work as there is no google play services.

Other Thoughts: Was my first tablet and a good one at that. Really worth it if you put in the time to modify it. At first i didnt like the resistive touch screen but now I prefer it over capacitive. Even though I sold it I regret doing so, it realy was a good tablet.

5 out of 5 eggs9.99 AR Gets it done

Pros: Cheap
Works
Carrying bag is of surprisingly good quality
Includes extras (cleaning cloth, earphones, stylus, etc)

Cons: Didn't work with my carrying case w/usb keyboard (my fault not neweggs)
LCD Resistive Touch Screen is a bit difficult to work without stylus, not worth losing an egg as it specifically states this on the product page.
Rebates are always a hassle.

Other Thoughts: Didn't work for my needs, but for ~9.99 AR it can be a good clock, radio, etc. The tablet might be refurbished, but it looks and feels brand new (even had a screen protector already in place).

1 out of 5 eggsDONT

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Break easily. Don't even breath on these things they will break. I've gone through two of them. They are not well constructed (tough). If you so much as drop one on the bed it has a chance of breaking. I don't mean the screen I mean something inside. Save your money, buy a nice name brand unit.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Kyros comes packed with a reusable protective pouch + a short USB cable, useful for other small electronics you may have on hand.

Cons: Remanufactured Kyros may or may not work even after recharging the battery several times over three days. Finally tossed it in the trash.

Other Thoughts: After several days of trying to get it to work I accidentally dropped it on the floor, then after realizing how good I felt, I dropped it on the floor several more times + added a wall bounce. Very therapeutic & well worth the $8. paid

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Little Tablet

Pros: Got this <$10 after rebate.

Cons: Resistive screens can take some getting used to if you're used to newer touch screens. Have to press a bit harder - a rubber tipped stylus really helps with this.

Comes w/ "off brand" apps for downloading apps and books. These can be replaced with google play and others with a little effort.

Other Thoughts: Considering that this is an older (3+ years), refurbished tablet, I've found that it performs quite well as long as you accept its limitations.

The hardware in this will not make it a good choice for videos or newer games/apps. However, out of box it is fine to use as a reader/browsing device.

Adding the google play store isn't too difficult and gives a great deal of flexibility and utility to this device. Again, just understand the limited hardware in this thing when buying and you should be fine.

Also, the specs say battery life is ~3 hours but I've been getting closer to 6-8+ and I haven't even messed with the power settings/native applications yet.

3 out of 5 eggsDon't try to run apps on

Pros: Cheap, plays videos and music fine. Also OK for viewing pictures

Cons: Horribly slow for apps, does not come with google play, packaged app store horrible

Other Thoughts: Great if you just want to download MP3, MP4, avi, jpgs as a multimedia player. In terms of running apps, runs most either too slow or doesn't run at all. As others have mentioned, resistive versus capacitive touch screen, so you need to use a stylus to get decent control
