Great deal.
- Pros: For the price this computer is great; I bought it for my sister while she attends college. Plays movies, Open Office, relatively light weight, looks nice, browses internet.
I have not had a complaint yet... knock on wood.
- Cons: could be lighter, junk software -- had to spend time preping it for her, and would be nice if it had a higher resolution
HP=Huge Problems
- Pros: Touchpad is responsive.
- Cons: My new HP Compaq laptop died suddenly, and I had to ship it back to HP for warranty repair where it has been sitting for over a month. Their customer support is terrible.
Replacement of my old Desktop
- Pros: 1. 2.0GHZ Dual Core CPU is fine for me, especially with a laptop. It will run enough games just fine.
2. 2GB of RAM is a fair amount. I might upgrade to 4GB of Ram. CPU-Z says the RAM frequency is 333MHZ, if that helps anyone. :S 3. 160GB Hard Drive is good enough, but it's not great. It's sata 3.0gbps and 5400RPM. Im usually transferring Data from my PC to my External (USB) at 6-8MBPS. 4. Screen is a huge upgrade from my 15" Dell CRT screen.
- Cons: 1. The Outside case is Very glossy black. It's a fingerprint magnet like none other.
2. The Video Card failed on me twice the 2nd day I used it, but I lowered the settings from Quality to Performance, and I havent had an error since. 3. The DVD Burner likes to not work, I guess you could say. Well, It works, but It doesnt detect Cd's and such. 4. The touchpad has a tendancy to stick, therefor I plugged in an External USB mouse.
- Other Thoughts: 1. This Video Card is a nVidia GeForce 8200M G.
2. Since I didnt want to risk overheating, I put 2 Playstation 2 game Cases underneath the back of the laptop on the right side (so it doesnt block the vent). It's like a laptop stand, I guess you could say. 3. My Ethernet cable is on the right side of my desk. But the ethernet connection on this laptop is on the right side, I had to re-think my Ethernet wiring from my basement just so my cable could reach the ethernet plug in on this laptop. 4. This laptop is just fine the way it is, but I'm thinking about putting 4GB of Ram into it, and possibley a 7200RPM Hard drive. This thing would FLYYYYY. 5. I'm a gamer. According to websites that scan my hardware, this Laptop can run Need for Speed games on the Recommended settings. It can run Oblivion, Fable: The Lost Chapters, Scarface (If Scarface played on Vista [but it doesnt]), The Godfather, etc games on Reccomended settings without alot of problems. I found that to be a pro. =]
