5 out of 5 eggsGreat for the Price

Pros: The price is really awesome! It is a tablet that is small, compact, and powerful. Able to take out the CD drive and place another 6 cell battery in it. Windows 7 32 bit is great. The speakers on this are quite loud better than my 3 year old 15.4 inch laptop. The laptop is smaller making it much easier to transport to class. Active digitizer and hand writing recognition is extremely accurate. This tablet has a dual core processor unlike most windows tablet slates.

Cons: The battery was DOA and only would hold a charge for 20min even though I followed neweggs instructions to charge it for 8 hours before use. Bought a replacement and the battery last for about 4-5 hours. The fan is a bit loud but not that noticeable. The fingerprint reader does not come with the software so it is worthless, however I did not plan to use it anyway. It does not have a web camera, however there is a microphone that works well for online audio conversations over the internet. I wish the pen would be stored inside the computer rather then attached by a screen, however the current setup works sufficiently.

Other Thoughts: This computer is great for poor college students, however if you can afford one of the windows 7 tablet slate computers with a wireless keyboard I would buy one of those. I plan on getting a modular battery to replace the CD drive so I can have 10 hours of battery life. The computer can have a total of 12 cells which makes is far better then any slate tablet pc. Despite the pros I still gave it 5 eggs because the price is great for a powerful tablet pc.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat PC but gets HOT

Pros: I've had this exact model for 6 years now (got it as a freshman in college) and it still works fine, as do most of my friends with the same model.

Cons: The only problem is it gets REALLY REALLY HOT. I have to leave it on a bed/desk/table now instead of my lap or it will start to hurt. Also i lifted it up last night to put it away and it almost burned me.

Also the fans always seem to die out after a year, mine made a ton of noise before dying completly, so this may be why it gets so hot. The computer freezes realtively frequently now, but that's after 6 years of use (6 years of it getting really hot during use). Overall though very reliable compared to other laptops all my classmates had.

5 out of 5 eggsTOP OF THE LINE

Pros: Like brand new. Fast. No problem out the box. I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone. I spent 1-2000 for ally my other tablet-pcs. This outdoes THEM ALL.

Cons: Absolutely NONE

Other Thoughts: I plan to getting more. Out of the box is is absolutely BRAND NEW APPEARING.

4 out of 5 eggsA Workhorse That Has What I Need!

Pros: Dual Core @ 2.2GHz + Windows 7 Home Premium + very good display = GREAT Workhorse, and allows me to play the games I play on my (older) desktop. This isn't a gaming rig (+ I don't play *newer* games), but it runs Civ4 very well (which slurred a little on my first tablet). Intelligently laid out (position of power cord, USB ports, larger open ports have covers). DVD (read only) / CD-RW built in (actually swappable with an optional battery) plays DVDs very well (just use your own headphones). Bluetooth is a plus. 250GB (actually about 220 usable) is super sweet.

Cons: Battery: nearly DOA. Hunted down another battery which costs $45 (I originally despaired: initial searches were turning up $100+ batteries). Stereo speakers are weak. Keyboard *feels* flimsy (either they are flimsy or weren't replaced).

Other Thoughts: This is my third tablet. I bought it specifically because I wanted a little more firepower. RAM comes in 2 x 1GB config, bought a 2GB chip for $25 to bump it to 3GB (still, it already runs very well!). Ordered a dock for it (about $30).

I typically buy refurbs and juice 'em up a little - extra RAM, larger HD, etc...; I do it that way to spend the money over time. I've had really good experience with docking (my first tablet's dock allows me to plug in TWO external monitors - VGA+DVI - providing for a solid computing experience, hoping this one does the same).

Bottom line: this will probably become my main system for awhile (it's that good). It has the same power that I *currently* have in my desktop (minus the ability to record DVD) in an attractive, portable form with a *very nice* tablet screen. If the battery even had a reasonable amount of life left upon it, I'd give it 5 eggs. I'm satisfied!

4 out of 5 eggsgood for the cost

Pros: As a cheap option for an artist who wants to use a graphic tablet laptop this seems like a pretty good buy. Nice price, good memory, decent processor. I like how the stylist is leashed to the screen. I don't have to worry so much about losing it. Even with a free photo manipulation program like GIMP the stylist/tablet mode works decently.

Cons: Since it's refurbished it's a bit rough around the edges. It gets hot quickly, but this is my first laptop so I'm not sure if that's typical. The stylist isn't totally precise, but it's still decent. Figuring out things when converted into tablet mode takes some getting used to.

Other Thoughts: This is my first laptop. I've only had it a short time. Despite that, I am pleased so far with the results and had been worrying before it's arrival that the tablet/stylist wouldn't be as good as they were for doing artistic projects. Like I said in the cons, the stylist isn't the most accurate, but it's still easier than using a simple tablet pad and having to get used to staring at the screen and not the "pen" while drawing. This laptop/screen is small, but that's not a totally bad thing when you want to cradle it in your lap in tablet mode. If you're a starving artist like me looking for a good, cheap, graphic tablet laptop, then I would thus far recommend this.
