Toshiba gives you great bang for the buck with their Satellite A135-S4527 notebook. It's powered by a Pentium dual-core processor running at 1.73GHz. That's backed by 1GB of DDR2 memory and a 120GB hard drive. The 15.4" WXGA screen with TruBrite technology gives you a great picture under almost any conditions.

Dedicated media buttons control the DVD Super Multi Drive. This drive can read and write to 11 of the most popular media formats. That way you can listen or watch factory discs or your own compilations. Of course you could do something as mundane as data back up with the drive. The Toshiba Satellite will let you do it all!

Pros: Well made laptop
Nice screen
Solid feeling keyboard
All port are on the sides and front

Cons: Has Vista Home on it.
Cannot upgrade past 2 GB of comes with 1 GB which is not enough, you need at least 2 GB to run Vista Home smoothly.

Other Thoughts: I picked this up from a customer who upgraded to a new laptop. I re installed Windows and all drivers, did away with the bloatware, and turned off some unneeded Vista features, and now this little lappy runs pretty quick. I have thought about tossing in a SSD, but haven't decided if I want to waste any money on this Vista Machine.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome notebook!

Pros: Great machine! Light, awesome monitor screen. Just love. I had bought a Dell E1405 and this is twice the machine as that. I paid $500 more for the Dell now I feel like I got ripped off by them.

Cons: Nothing really

3 out of 5 eggsNewegg can't compete with themselvs

Pros: Newegg delivered merchandise really quick. Damaged by UPS.

Cons: Price changed from seven hundred to seven hundred fifty, and Newegg can't sell this notebook to me for seven hundred no matter what.

Other Thoughts: Well, service at Newegg dropped from Excellent to Questionable skipping Horrible. Think twice before purchasing from Newegg.

5 out of 5 eggsI now know what I've been missing!

Pros: Light, great sounding speakers for a laptop, screen resolution is phenomenal, quick even with Vista, easy to transfer old computer files, sound volume control and headphone jacks right in front of the computer. Everything is easy to reach-usb ports on side instead of the back. Love the volume controls and video play/fastforward/rewind/stop buttons right on the keypad.

Cons: The booklet warns you to wash your hands after handling the power cord due to lead- that's scary because I have young children both under the age of 3!
The Alt. button seems to be where my old delete button was on my Dell, so that's been a little akward getting used to.
Lots of junk programs to be removed, but didn't take long

Other Thoughts: I LOVE THIS NOTEBOOK! I had a Dell Inspirion 2200 for the last 3 years and always had problems with it. Some programs wouldn't allow the windows to come up even with newly installed drivers, browser updates and tuneups, and turning pop-up blockers off. I'm not a high tech person, but I know enough to usually get by. Having this Satellite has made me see just what I was missing. 3 years ago I paid Dell about twice what I paid for this and it was heavier, slower, had less programs. I will always use Newegg because it's cheaper, faster, better service, and has the reviews that I need.

4 out of 5 eggsGood stats for the price

Pros: I had a big, overpowered 17" laptop before this. In comparison, this one runs much cooler and quieter. Didn't bother with Vista, installed Linux first thing. Sound didn't work after a fresh install, but that was fixed in a day with some patches. You get 1 gig of RAM, dual core, and a 120GB HD for a very good price.

Cons: The keyboard layout is really strange. The power and media control buttons take up about 2.5" of space on the side that should have been used for the keyboard. Windows and right mouse button in the top-right, ins and del at the bottom. Also, volume control is a wheel at the front of the laptop, I sometimes brush against it if the laptop is on my lap, which is a mild nuisance. Battery seems a bit loose, but I have not had any problems yet.

Other Thoughts: This may be a Linux thing, but the headphones jack had a lot of noise initially. Had to mute the mic input to fix it.

5 out of 5 eggsGood laptop for the price

Pros: Price, Ease of use, Weight

Cons: Vista runs around 768 megs of the gig of ram out of the box. Dumb down the setting and make it look just like xp and it barely uses 300.

Other Thoughts: Un-install the widget feature and windows defender. They are useless and waste ram.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice Laptop

Pros: Excellent system, works great with Windows XP. If you do want to load XP, be prepared to do some searching for drivers.

Cons: The XP sound driver was difficult. The system kept locking up with the first sound driver I tried, but ended up getting the right one.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Buy

Pros: fast shipping, everything as advertised (no surprises!), run smoothely right out of the box

Cons: iexplore has crashed twice since i got it... it may be an issue with vista though.

Other Thoughts: Eventually i am going to put in another GB of RAM to make everything better

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well

Pros: Lots of features. Great deal. Can run XP (be prepared to search long and hard for drivers)

Cons: Vista didn't work with my video programs, at least not with good quality.

Other Thoughts: I got it as a graduation gift. So far its worked fine without issues. Downgraded the XP after the first week. If I ever want to go back I can use the restoration disks.
